@jedillama9 I think that they might be referring to the solo at 2.21 which is played with octaves on the top 3 strings.

@CheckThisSaw Yes it is. I went into my music shop looking for a first guitar and this was suggested to me. I bought it as a package with an amp, pick, etc for £200. The guitar on its own is £150.

@narnode You are almost right. Instead of playing 0 on the B you need to play 4 on the G. Please check out my video lesson to see how it's played. The tabs are taken from the official American Idiot song book. Thanks.

Thanks. I've had this amp for about 2 and a half years and I haven't had any problems with it (touch wood!!!). If you are looking for a first amp and don't want to spend too much money then this is perfect. Marshall's have an excellent reputation and they are used by so many guitarists. They suit practically all styles of music. Hope this helps. Good luck!

why did you use any effects on this cover from your marshall MG30FDX? otherwise its a good cover

I originally tried it with a bit of reverb but I thought that for this song it would sound better without any digital effects. The clean sections would have sounded better with reverb but you can't turn the digital effects on and off with the footswitch on the MG30DFX. Cheers for the comment though.

what guitar has a better punk green day sound i know the amp gives the sound you want but im looking over all on guitars fender strat ,squire strat ,epiphone les pual, or gibson sg

I don't think there is a particular guitar that is good for giving the 'Green Day' sound. I've had a look on the internet and there are websites that detail the gear used. It seems that over the years they have used Strats, Les Pauls, SGs. I think it's just down to personal preference. Hope this helps, and sorry for the late reply. I couldn't make the change between the parts fast enough. On the CD and live they are 2 different guitar parts. The part that I play should really be played with a clean channel. If you want the chords they are:

Listen to the CD to get the rhythm and count how many times you need to play it.

Erm, I'm not sure. I played it along with the CD and it sounds like it's in the right key. I got the music out of the official tab book so it should be right. I appreciate the comment though.

It's in the right key,

but by octave he means like instead of playing something on the third fret you play it on the 15th fret
