  • Thumbs up for TK shirt!

  • @Windows446 :D

  • I might get to go here tonight for the haunted house, they have, so I will properly ride this.

  • Oildraulic, not Oiltronic. Nice shirt.

  • Thanks, but it said Oiltronic.

  • Wasn't this General Elevator company bought out by Dover?

  • No, they were a subsidiary. I think it was formed from Dover, but I could be wrong. I have a book on the history of Dover, so I will look there for more info.

  • There's an elevator on the UNM campus dating back to 1968 which uses these exact fixtures

  • General Elevator was founded decades ago in Orlando by a Mr. Rhue. At one time, they sold "Oiltronic" elevator packages to independents. After falling on hard times in the late 80s (family/business squabbles), a couple of entrepreneurs purchased it and expanded it to offices throughout Florida. The current incarnation is General Elevator Sales and Service with web site generalelevatordotcom General pushbuttons were garbage. Those look like G.A.L. replacements.

  • A nice elevator, although i find the light wood tacky. EPCO WS Haloline fixtures.

  • The fixtures are not be EPCO. I know this. They are of General's own line.

  • Ah.

  • If they only put a Schindler QKS-14 door operator on that, it would be just about a perfect elevator!

  • True, but I still think that it is a terrific elevator even though the door is noisy.

  • Nice elevator, and you look nice in your ThyssenKrupp shirt.

  • Thanks!

  • You're welcome.

  • Fixtures look like the ones used in the first Meredith elevator I recorded (Epco's).

  • Yes they do. The hall call button does not have a keyswitch above it though.

  • Also, the General Elevator logo on the car station also says Oiltronic on it, just like in the Merideth Elevator. Now I have a book on the history of Dover Elevator that TK gave me, and I will have to look and see if Merideth was a distributor for Dover because General was.

  • My Dover Elevator History Book says nothing on Merideth Elevator, but it does say that General Elevator Company is a subsidiary of Dover Elevator International.

  • I figured there wasn't much of a chance, because awhile ago, I looked up Meredith on Google (can't post links here, sucks). Meredith was it's own, and still is, under another name, same owners. My new Meredith video is different looking than the Twin City Plaza one.

  • I remember this elevator its a nice one

  • Indeed. Next time I go there I won't even shop I will just ride this. It is too bad General Elevator isn't around. This is a very good quality lift with smooth start and stop.

  • Next time I go downtown pittsburgh I will take the subway to station square so I can ride this again. General elevators are ment to have smooth start and stop. This was modernized with epco buttons

  • This elevator here? No. Those are original buttons. It just has an EPCO gong. It may have had a bell at one point. Also, those aren't EPCO fixtures.
