  • I wish I had a 109G-2.

I'd fly to my grandmas house and give her a hug and steal her vicoden.

  • Super nice video - thanks!! Wanted to see Walter's landing; video really just showed his "roll out". Was it a "three pointer"? Or, a "wheel landing" (with the tail wheel coming down fairly early?) Beautiful aircraft - no question about it.

  • @mmichaeldonavon

hm dont know, didnt see it too

  • WOW! This is the GREATEST bf-109 video I have ever seen! The G10 is in my opinion the best looking 109 variant. And it sounds awesome too!

  • Hello I'm from Hungary . there are plane very beautyful I like it!!! anno we have got this plane. in ww2 Hungarian royal air force I don't see it in live... :( near in the city to be was plane museum .but , here not be ww2 plane . alone one sink il-2 sturmovik battle airplane. but it is beautifull :D

  • @tamte100

hi, in which city is the sunken IL-2 ?

Hungary is not far from Bavaria; perhaps you can travel to Manching where the historical Bf´s are stationed.

  • @kubanskiloewe the answer sned you youtubs profile. i there can :( th plane now here : hungary, szandaszőllős, air museum.

  • @tamte100 you search the link the on internet : this is write in google : "szolnoki repülő múzeum " this on website you click the "arhive" there you to find it

  • @tamte100

wooow ! great detailed pictures about this IL-2.... it´s thickness of the metal is impressive.

  • @kubanskiloewe yes ! the plane relly fascinating :D

  • @kubanskiloewe where are you from ? from england?

  • @tamte100

    no germany

  • @kubanskiloewe oh, i see :)

  • spitfire and mustang were no match

  • Was this not the first super-charged fighter in the world???

  • @xpingjoc

puuh, good question...I really dont know because at the end of 1918 some german engines run with superchargers but still on testing i think. search for .enginehistory

; but the 109 was first operational with direct fuel injection.

  • Me-262 engines beat all listed here heheh.

  • @88Phobos Still.. I like more the propelplanes, if they get enginefailure you CAN still land, or even engine+ tailshot to pieces if lucky. In jets EJECT! is onlyoption.

  • Wot a machine!! this has to be the finest Warbird flying today, only the FW 190 A5 at Maine field could come close, as it has the only BMW 801 powered Fw190 airworthy,,,,Magnificent!!!!

  • To me this looks like a K4 with the Erla haube ??

  • i like these old warplanes :D

  • nothing like a pistin engine to lift the soul...... wonderfull tx guys... ;^)

  • @petete21521 piston* sorrry mispelled it.... LOL

  • I wish we could see an airworthy 109-K4......i would love to see the wheel panels all closed an the tail wheel retracting and of course the taller stabilizer.

And i have one question too: The MW-50 sistem is operational in this plane ?

If yes, can it be used at low altitude ? Thanks and congratulations for the superb video !

  • @Admhiper

Years ago, I thought I read about a possible K-4 project, or just parts. I've not heard anything since.

I can't state for certain if MW-50 systems would be restored as operational. Today there is no need to push the rare Luftwaffe engines that hard when they are incredibly expensive to rebuild and get fewer hours than a comparable Merlin between rebuilds.

  • Dieses heulende Daimler-Benz-geknatter ist einfach haarsträubend.

Die hundertneun ist einfach nur geil...

  • Daimler Musik =)

  • Despite being a Brit who loves all WW2 aircraft, i have to say that the Bf-109F,G & K models are my absolute favourite aircraft of all time! There is something so emotive in the engine sound (as good as a Merlin!) that makes my forearm hairs stand on end. I used to be an Aircraft technician in the British Army and though helicopters were fun, I'd have loved to have had the chance to have gotten my paws on a Gustav! What a machine - so functional, deadly and elegant. Well done Willy!!!

  • @kneeslider47

    Hi there,

thx for Your unbiased and honest thinking about the Me(rlin) ;o)

If You like to hear another nice DB engine...look on Youtube under

"VSCC Mercedes W154 Demo" nice words the british chaps are saying I think

  • @kneeslider47 Its the daimler bez engine my friend. The FW 190 have the BMW engine wonderfull too. Germans made the most beautifull machines.................

  • Well it's isn't an original WWII era plane, but it's still amazing...

  • is the DB605 designed to improve the Merlin V12? As far as i know the Luftwaffe prefered to fight on low altitude because the former DB-engines did'nt performe very well at high altitudes. is this correct? whats the story?

  • @76RV

perhaps we could say that over the whole wartime Daimler Benz and Rolls Royce where most times head to head with some advantages shifting any time when a new modification or improvement comes to service.

At the end the JUMO 213 A and E must be counted to the best V12´s too; unfortunately there is only one in a late 190D which runs ...but not flyable. ... search in youtube for "190D engine run" and you´ll see what hard work ist was to start these big engines by cranking a handlever :D

  • @76RV a few time ago i read that the german engines were better on high altitude than the british ones, im not sure if that is correct but i red this in an article about the war over london.

  • @76RV a few time ago i red that the german engines were better on high altitude than the british ones, im not sure if that is correct but i red this in an article about the war over london.

  • @Duploking1

not so easy to say because it´s not only the power of the engine at a rated altitude (think early Merlins were better in that); it´s more the combination and hamonic trim of engine, propeller, controls like pitch, fuelmixture, compressor and their easy useability which makes a Plane to a Fighterplane.

  • @kubanskiloewe yeah youre right :)

do you have a link for this vid? i would like to watch it :)

  • @Duploking1

here in youtube is a vid interviewing a german pilot who flew the BoB and he mentioned that the advantage shifted even when a new improvement get in service,he called it "Schuß" f.e. the german GM1 system which gives power above the rated altitude for 5min.

  • @kubanskiloewe

But GM1 and MW50 could only be used for short periods without engine damage. "War emergency" power for the Merlin could also only be used for 5 minutes max without damaging the engine. The altitude advantage came with better supercharging and better fuels, which the Allies had. Late war German fuel was nearly equal in quality after the Germans were able to reverse-engineer fuel samples and additives from crashed Allied planes.

  • @Duploking1 In the Battle of Britain The 109s fitted with DB601s had an advantage at high altitude over the Hurricanes. Spitfires were on almost even terms with the 109 at 5000+ meters.

The biggest advantage the DB601 had over the Merlin was mechanical fuel injection, allowing Luftwaffe pilots to perform -G without starving their engines of fuel. THE most powerful fighter at high altitude was the P-47 with an 18 cylinder twin radial twin turbocharged engine rated at 2,000 HP at 30,000 ft..

  • @th3lunchb0x thanks for the information :) i think the cruising range of the p 47 is very admirable

  • @Duploking1 especially as against the bf

  • It isn't true. The DB engines performed very well at high altitudes: to proof it is enough to remember the huge numbers of B-17 shotdown through World War II. Still today the real number of US bombers destroyed in day bombing offensive isn't oficially admitted because were too high.

  • @76RV The D series engines like what the G-10 and K-4 used (DB 605 D) were designed to run on C3 fuel (called 100 octane but tests show it was equal to 130 or 140 grade fuel). It was designed for higher altitudes. The g10 reached it's max speed at 7400 Meters (around 25k feet) the same height as the p51. And obviously performed well at these altitudes. I won't say one engine is better than the other because I don't think it matters honestly. both great pieces of engineering.

  • @zontral They did that for two reasons 1) The P-51 and 2) to get at the bombers bombing the shit out of Germany.

  • beutifull i would take this over any spitfire....this plus hartmann=top ace of ww2

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  • Schwarz Zwei! Listen to the beauty of the engine sound....Daimler-Benz 601...Der Deutsch Merlin!

  • @billyconnearly

    in fact it´s a DB605D but anyway....a Daimler Benz....the 601 series where used in early 109´s like 109E and 109F

  • THIS ISN'T NOISE, THIS IS MUSIC FOR MY EARS !!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm glad this was uploaded for everyone's viewing pleasure. There aren't many of these remaining today, and fewer still are flight worthy. Thanks for uploading.

  • @grenzdebiler1

Bei dem Sound Hol ich mir einen ;)

    Hast recht fucking enlisch

  • Gives me goosebumps, wish my 70" wingspan RC model would have the engine tones like this. Simply fantastic to see these in the air again. Nice!

  • whats that weird sound just before the engine starts?

  • @therealbamlee The gyrating mass, I think.

  • @therealbamlee

yes eltfell is right; that´s the clutching inertiawheel which could either be brought to speed with battery or by cranking a hand lever

  • @therealbamlee Supercharger:invented by a Frenchman I believe?

  • this 109 dances in the sky it flies greatfully and the sound of the 605 is awson

  • @pudransemarikas

    pls let politics out here....

neither a plane nor a pilot needs a swastika or any symbol to show a good performance

  • @kubanskiloewe Richtig!!!

  • @pudransemarikas

I agree that it's pretty lame to take off the Swastika. Thank God I live in the States where we can rebuild these aircraft and use their correct markings for the period.

  • @Xtragicfever

i have to admit that EADS give her a new dress away from original warschemes; find that ok and it fits to the other EADS 109G4 especially in Formation that would be a nice to look at.

  • @Xtragicfever typical of the new german pussies , i hope the real germans are still alive and they will come back , you know what i mean?

  • Einfach nur Klasse, sagenhaft!

  • I talked to Walter at ILA 1995. Cool chap. Excellent pilot.

I assume the good pilots were more rare than good planes in the western front on german side ?

  • Beautiful Aircraft, excellent flying

  • Just thinking, this 109 would have more power now than when it was new due to being able to run 100 octane now.

  • @paul6t4

think i read it´s a DB605DB (90octane+MW50system) but anyway ....the Pilot´s did not fly those old and very rare and expensive engines on max boostpressure; i heard about 1,1-1,2 bar pressure.

  • @paul6t4

its not easy to identify a DB605AS and DB605D....but there are important differences....the 605A has always problems with lubrication and oil foam because Messerschmitt doesnt care (very close installing in the airframe!) about Daimler´s directive of oil amount; oil whizzers helps a bit but the newer 605D had a 50litres oil tank and the DB605A series only 39 !

  • @paul6t4

Later engines were ran on C3 fuel, which was 100 octane. With MW-50 they made more power. Luftwaffe scientists were able to improve fuel from analyzing Allied samples. Today, these planes run on 100LL avgas and probably make less power than with average WWII fuel which was in the 115 to 150 octane range. All of them are ran conservatively to prolong life between expensive rebuilds. (Except the Reno racers.)

  • What a glorious noise i practically get a heart attack every pass it does!

  • why does'nt anyone give this pretty bird a descent name?? the squadrons in wich she served are gone and she's all alone..... it does'nt have too big.....in small black characters.....just above the exhaustpipes....."HELGA" would be very nice.........just a thought! ;-)

  • @76RV Helga!!!???? I can call you a cocksucker;-)

It is a warMACHINE and it`s got it`s number not like all those brutal lulu P47`s

and pinups painted on Machines of death

  • @stonebasse Actually ..the Pilots did paint the names of their girlfriends ..wives ..etc ..on the side of their 109's

  • the109 what a plane!

  • wowww

  • it was te most beautiful plane of WWII for sure. even more then the spitfire

  • @ kubanskiloewe

Super, danke für die Info. Wieder was gelernt! ;)

  • The Mustang and P38 cleared the skies of all German PLANES,never pick a fight you can not win..

  • @ClarksonsinUSA hell no! and germany lost the war? tell us something we dont know yet, yank :D

  • @muhlol just thought I would remind you.....

    ;)

  • @ClarksonsinUSA wath!! are you an idiot!! just shared numbers of fighters on alied side!!! dont talk about thing you have no clue on!

  • @MortenCbr sore loser...

  • @ClarksonsinUSA ! you still know a shit !!

  • @ClarksonsinUSA mustang was powered with a british powerplant sir without it the plane would have sucked ass.

  • @diveplane actually the P-51D, was powered by the Packard V-1650, a two-stage two-speed supercharged version of the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine..Unique in its design....

  • Was ist denn mit dem Spornrad los? Hatte die G10 nicht ein einziehbares Spornrad? Oder hate das nur die K-Serie?

  • @Scheltokeeper

Geiiiiiiiles Vid!

Kann mich Weilwulf nur anschließen. Keine Musik, kaum Gelaber. So muss das!

  • Super! Der Flieger gefällt mir :-)

  • Wow, an airshow where there no announcers babbling away and loud music playing. Very novel and very , very right.

  • hi,

the Messerschmitt Stiftung (EADS Heritage) did´nt make airshow´s, they have open day any 2 years and show´s only their historic Planes at the EADS Manching airbase; so these are more a presentattion with little military touch and no public showtime.

5 Sterne !!!
