i have always felt like yield is pearl jam's dark side of the moon(except this one is about life instead of death). not many hit songs but if you put them all together, they sound amazing. just like mrlucasriley said, "cohesiveness" is the perfect word to describe this album. you have to listen to the entire thing to appreciate it......ten and vs are the complete opposite. full of singles but no unity(or at least not as good as yield).
I agree with the votes for "Yield." Years from now it will be considered their best album (if it isn't already). "Ten" was certainly more commercially successful, and has a lot of great stuff on it, no question, but "Yield" had such an ambience to it, such a cohesive feel, and the kinds of songs that grow on you 'til they stick permanently. I don't know if "meatier" is the right word, but you just felt their maturity on this album. Thanks for uploading!
Yield is their best album with no doubt! All their albuns are great but this record has something especial that was started with the previous No Code album. The bass melodies, the riffs, the power of the drums and the great Eddie's voice. I always wanna be "faithfull to you"...
Not sure why you got so many negs. Your entitled to your opinion. There are unfortunetly too many pricks so called PJ fans who think the band are flawless. There worst record by a country mile is there self titled one. Easy.
I'd say their worst album is Binaural. The self-title one has a lot of good tracks; Life Wasted, World Wide Suicide, Unemployable, Gone, Army Reserve, and Come Back are great. The only truly bad one is Parachutes. Severed Hand, Marker in the Sand, and Inside Job are still good. I'm glad they release Binaural still because it has it's fair share of awesome tracks. It just has too many bad songs whcih is why IN MY OPINION it's the worst
@DIMHL I completely agree with you that Binaural is their worst album. I like a couple songs off there Grievance, In Thin Air, and Light Years (the demo to this song is even better than the regular version). The production was just muffled and bland and I think that is what drags the album down so much. I loved the whole Self-titled album. Vs, Vitalogy, Yield, Self-titled, and Ten are probably my top 5 right there.
@stmburg yeah man, every album has its moments, but yield is what got me pearl jam hooked, its the album i lay stoned and alone and passing out to as a teen, theres tracks in every album that mean a lot to me, but that album owns a part of my youth. im just glad this band didnt cave in, eddies songs are still as human and heartfelt as ever, however you read them ;)
Yield and Vs always do it for me

this is a great song, but YIELD is not their best work... YIELD isn't a bad album, but in my opinion YIELD is PJ' weakest work...

One of their most inspired and all time great songs. The older I get, the more I debate it, it becomes clearer that YIELD is their best
