@MnM7431 He died at 71 (rather young for 2009) and had heart problems since his 50's (probably from drug use). I'm just saying he wasn't the picture of health. I love the man but on this issue I agree with science *good hygiene=good health.

@GoochLewinsky Yeah? As far as I know all his health issues were heart-related, caused by a hereditary condition and exacerbated by cocaine and alcohol use - very little to do with being a bit lax about hygiene.
And he lived to be 71, having performed consistently since the late 50s right up till the end. Hardly a bad way to go.

@GoochLewinsky Er ... why not? He stopped the cocaine in the late 70s and stopped alcohol and prescription drugs in 2004. The heart condition was genetic. His death was not related to his lack of paranoia about germs.
And he was probably telling the truth - for all we know, he may not have gotten colds etc. often at all because he had a good immune system, that's all he's saying.

i live my life according to Carlin and I let my kids do whatever. They always seem to find gum somewhere and chew on it and it only makes me laugh. And yet somehow they don't get as sick as the other kids at their schools....

My parents have let me eat some of the craziest stuff you've every seen, fed to me by my one italien grandfather (who makes everything by hand, even cuts up the meat and everything, straight from the pig, no processing) who rarely washes his hands, plus the stuff they themselves have given me, and I get sick maybe...once every 2-3 years, and even then the next morning (sometimes after only a few hours of sleep) I'm perfectly fine.
