mine makes the exact noise!!...but i got a job and i haven't played my 360 elite as much as i used 2...i think u have to play several hours for the noise 2 go away
can anyone tell why my xbox sounds like someone put a tiny little rock ( like the size of a bb gun pellet) on top of a piece of metal that is vibrating really fast its like so annoying

absolutely normal, but you have to play 1-2 houres a game like gears of war or other good game that use much power of the console, after playing 1-2houres the fans will rotate faster and mor louder same on PS3. On PS3 Play Call of Duty 4 and after 1 h 30 min than repost a video , than i can tell you if iz normal. greets D.

mine sounds like a tank. The white 360 i had before was very quiet, just a little louder than a ps3. But my new elite is super loud.. probably 4x the loudness of my other one. Basically the fans are running at full power all the time. my older 360 only got loud after running for a while. I have friends that have the elite 360 and they dont have the same problem. there is nothing technially wrong with it besides the fans running at full speed.
dont listen to anybody...that noise is normal, mine does it, my dads does it my friends 360 does it too, if all three of ours does that noise...then it HAS to be normal....or at least...a very rare coincidence
My xbox 360 elite is the same my mates say that it is so load compared to their's but it freezes too so I am taking it back and getting a new one but keeping the hard drive
thanks because i've heard that elite do a lot of noise and that is why i tried the ps3(60 gb) bu i'm getting xbox elite 250 gb with modern warfare2 :)
Bull. It's even louder when playing games unless installed on the HDD. This system sounds normal, unfortunately. My Jasper sounds exactly the same. Blame the cheap craptastic fans.
btw installing games to your hardrive makes games quieter, you don't have to listen to it spin around, also maps load faster and so does the game

I changed the thermal paste for the CPU and GPU chip. Much more silent now. I think its normal for an unmodified console though...
