  • 52 people are stupid. If you think this does not require strong musicianship, you are mistaken. Mozart was not able to play every instrument, but he managed to write music for each instrument

  • Now you can ship your mail around the world, if it fits it ships for one low rate. We'll even come pick it up off your door step. we are the United States Postal Service XD

  • good man ;)

  • i like it. and i 'like' it.

  • best monome tune i have heard so far. Really cool

  • I am the op-er-a-tor of my pocket cal-cu-la-tor.

  • Really nice dude. Not only does this take musical talent, but it takes computer programming and producing talent as well.

  • beautiful!

  • WOW....that is amazing...I love this! Lol add this to the list of reasons I like technology and its many advances ...did you record any of the sound/ melody pieces or is it pure computer generation? Im curious is all :D So awesome~

  • @xxmatsukikurosuxx i recorded/played the loops myself, then just triggered them here in this video. thanks man!

  • this is like really good mellow sims 3 music

  • As a life time music lover and 25+ yr student of the most beautiful/ potent means of communication, I was quite impressed with this device and the time applied to its creation. Still, I do have a few thoughts regarding the processing potential of the component, the power / power expansion of the LED "nodes(?), and the machine's possible transition into a low-cost, highly effective, LED lighting unit. Does anyone have any feedback for an End Of Life NON Profit, theddtrees on te tube?

    thnx

  • @ddtreez If you want a low-cost Monome then build an Arduinome. They are not hard to make, parts are about 200 dollars in total or less depending on the material of the case; if any at all, and all instructions are on monome dot org. I decided to just buy one to support the original builder and because they are built with very high quality materials and just look nice. :P

  • being a musician is keeping in time, u and went far and beyond in doing that.

    XD

    ^_^

  • @HighV0ltage74 Well the uh... the machine keeps everything in time for him. Not saying it's not musicianship, just saying xD

  • is this all through the computer?

  • @elizacclark1 yep!

  • cool groove

  • I really like the title of this video. It makes me think of new beginnings...sky is the limit. May all your frienships be filled with love and many blessings.

  • How much did this monome cost

  • Strangely reminiscent of Water Music by Hot Tuna.

  • Some people don't understand that monome's is more complicated and has more of a learning curve that most if not all "real" instruments.

  • sick track man! :)

  • Any poster who says that Modulogeek needs to play a real instrument is obviously a buffoon. Machine or not, it takes real musical talent to come up with the progressions and melodies in a song like this

  • I had an old cheap Casio keyboard that had built-in features like this. I used to hook it up to a digital delay, and create all sorts of weird melody patterns.

  • Loved it, epic.

  • @Jackal9911 Where did the god thing come from???

  • @ravager0909

    the original message is spam

  • @Jackal9911 , Don't be mean.

  • That was really good. Add some words, it's got plenty of room for it!

  • Yes, cuz a mononome has been out since the LATE 70s when rap/hip-hop/urban/street started it's charge to the forefront, beginning as a subculture and ultimately rising to it's infamy...

Actually, no, the monome came mid-2000's and has thus inspired all music genres - as a piano, a tuba or bassoon have also in their own time. Usage of technology holds no genre. Love of the genre or music in general, though, is infinite. Peace

  • this reminds me of Owl City and Postal Service, both of which I LOVE!!

  • Awesome... Reminds me of Postal Service.

  • cool

  • Some posters have been telling modulogeek to learn to play a real instrument. To those of you who do not know him personally, may I just say that he plays mean guitar, bass (both electric and upright), drums, and keyboard/piano. So, let us not be hasty in judging these types of videos, especially if we weren't privy to what went on behind the scenes. Just a friendly reminder we could all use. :)

  • I enjoyed; reminds me a little of Owl City mixed with a couple great dance hits that maybe Kaskade or someone from Om may have thrown their flair in and have mixed.

    Good job man

  • That was amazing. Great job man.

  • it was awesome :].

  • :0(

  • can i get tabs to the begginning guitar part??

  • It's an awesome looking device. Could someone explain how it works?

  • Someone i know has one of these, and its actually pretty difficult to get used to (partly cos we were trying to play "Lights Out" on it whilst pished :). )

    But yeah, good wee tune

  • What's a monome? Does it actually make the music, or just pretty pictures, 'cause it didn't look like it corresponded with the music to me.

  • Awesome! A synth choir, but y so serious?

  • Bigdeezy74; Wow, someone is a great big douchebag.

    Could it be you?

Yes. Yes, it could be you.

    And it is.

  • No high FIVE!!!!!

  • @Bigdeezy74, would you mind not posting so much, I'm trying to listen to the song.

  • Then listen to the song my comments are not prevent you from listening to the song.

  • cool!

  • Man.... Children should not be on the Internet. They think they're being cool dropping the f bomb all the time. All they are doing is making themselves look like twits. BTW, great vid!

  • Good job, sounds great. The loops are fantastic.

  • Great job, sweet beat 10/10

  • hey thanks for saying that - i love postal service!

  • First Jam? Very nice.

  • Love it :)

  • This is stupid. What's the point?

  • Comment removed

  • NO "F" WORDS PLEASE!

  • can u add lyrics and vocals to this? i think it would make a great song :)

  • as a matter of fact there's a version of this with some nice vocals :) i'll try to render a decent cut hopefully soon.

  • @modulegeek: great, thanks!

  • that was cool!

  • I liek mudkipz!

  • wtf happened

  • @eateatmydick that was an interesting comment...

  • wow! good job! :D

  • who the fuck is cussing?! im not fucking cussing! your a fucken liar fucking lying about people fucken people andtalking about them fucken cussing, shit! =P

    (.....joking...)

  • i have no idea what's going on here, but it sounds great!

  • im not trying 2 be mean but what the hell are you doing?

  • interesting.. search for "star fk karmara" if you are a fan of instrumental music.

  • PLEASE NO "F" WORDS!

  • This thing looks like both a crazy powerful mixing tool and the most awesome gadget to mess around with.

  • Fuck this flashing light!!

  • Nevermind, just read DaTaFiEnD7's post, haha xD Pretty cool!

  • How exactly is this played? Does each button make a sound, and certain ones add effects??

  • yes, essentially, though it can do more than that. check out more monome stuff at the related vides section to see.

  • the link you put in the description is bad (the first link)

  • sorry, corrected.

  • Daedelus was playing something like this live. Very Cool.

  • Or... you could learn how to play a real insturment...

  • i dont get it

    how does this work

  • pure, electronic modern electronics

  • each button acts as a programmable button, you can put loops and other sounds onto each one and then program everything from pitch to volume to duration and timing on each one. kinda hard to explain just takes alot of interest in the subject and time.

  • nice song

i never heard about that monome..its nice and cool !!!

  • looks like tetris

  • this is stupid

  • Now ANYONE can be a boring, mediocre composer.

  • But anyone can be a remedial asshat.

    True story.

  • what on earth is that?Close encounters of the 3rd kind?

    nice personal MPC touch pad.crafty.

  • excellent composition, how bout' some down and dirrrrrty industrial?

  • Damn Nice Man, Damn Nice

  • wow- now geeks can compose music too

  • sooooo its prety much a win win situation ?

  • where could i get one of this N how much do they cost?

  • i don't get it..

  • greetings friend

  • @ LanceDirk:If you don't understand something, Google it at the very least. Just type 'Monome' and hit enter. It only takes two damn seconds...

  • what are you the comment police? He can ask questions if he wants to. STFU

  • i want you to "stfu" all over my face! oohhh yeah

let it run down my lips and into my mouth... :O!

  • With all the thousands of good looking pics on the net why did you go with that one for your backround funnymunci?

  • ...stfu=shut the fuck up

so you want him/her to shut the fuck up all over your face....

  • @Feddytk421:Yes he can ask questions if he wants to, there's nothing wrong with that. But, if you actually bother to go back and look at what he wrote, you'll see that what he wrote wasn't a question at all...Now what where you saying about me being the comment police? I think you ought to look at yourself. ;)

  • He wanted to know what a monome was and you said he should google it because it only takes two damn minutes. and about comment police...touche.

  • asses like you on youtube ruined the site, shut up before the Polite Police show up.

  • @PuppyStalker:How am I 'Ruining' Youtube? (You're easily upset, aren't you?)

  • tight ass beat

  • I don't understand how this thing work or what the lights mean in the least after watching this.

  • Basically it's nothing but a box with light-up buttons connected to a com. This guy has it connected to a computer and programmed to start/stop loops, etc. I don't get what the lights do either, that depends on how the computer is programmed

  • It's not the size of the tool that matters, it's how you use it :)

  • omg this game used to annoy the crap out of me when I was like 8 =P

  • LIGHTS OUT! GREAT GAME!!! f-in pro!

  • sounds nice

  • Modulogeek, Everybody here whether they know it or not wants to know, WHAT Happens When You Turn ALL the Lights On??? If you don't reply, you might as well be slapping all your viewers in the face. ty.

  • Yes, because not doing what random people tell you to do is equivalent to a slap in the face.

If you do reply, you might as well be slapping yourself in the face.

  • Go watch yer gay anime dip shit.

  • search monome on YTube.

  • ehh lame?

  • what is this?

  • LOL isnt this a song called beginning of a beautiful friendship ... YOUGUYS ARE LIKE FUCK YOU BITCH AND WS I TALKING TO YOU? ROFL THAT MADE ME LAUGH...

  • This is awesome! I have the same laptop btw.

  • Bigdeezy74,

    I Totally Agree with you.

this guy is pretty awesome. but just about anyone could do this. and people do have different opinions.

People express their feelings and who they are in different ways. obviously this guy does it this way.

[and i'm not saying anyone's wrong. so don't take it personally]

This is pretty cool. I Like It =X

  • This is ok but check me out I can play actual instruments lol

  • Yes Capt. Ego I'm sure you can but at least this is tolerable to listen to.

  • agreed, stumpitage. thats why this vid is featured, and the mrpantymalt has like 200 views.

  • cool!

  • what is that?! i want one! 0_o

  • Nice videos c: if you ever get the chance watch mine im sure that you'd enjoy them

I'd also appriciate it if you sub it would mean alot to me

    -Raheel

  • I think this guy is the best musician ever to exist! Prodigy!

  • wow, he is the most talented musician on youtube. o_O

  • Don't get me wrong, it sounds cool. But again, nothing special.

  • Agreed, it's just ableton live. Anyone can do it.

  • if an orchestra didn't have the dude standing in front of it, but he wrote the music, would you still call him a fool?

this is just like being the frontman of an orchestra, and that is a job many people make a lot of money doing.

So no, i wouldn't say this isn't an instrument, and i would also say that it does take skill to use, and to make a cohesive song from.

    nice job!

  • is that like a bigger mpc? can you program your sounds in it?

  • wow.......my aunt has always had one of those.....i used to play with it when i was little but i never really knew what it does other than when u push the buttons they light up.....hehehe gee do i feel dumb -_-

  • omg stop hatin ppl dis is a cool instrument and it sure is different and in a good way. i like ur music i think its cool, dont listen to all the haters out there.

  • OK people, to make it easy to all of you! : you cant realy call this a instrument like some of you do, because you dont, pressing buttons then it come music out aint a instrument. BUT, yes non-haters there is a but, it takes a lot of creativity, and makes great music. easy enough for all of you?

  • forget everyone else, this is awesome and takes tons of creativity. youre obviously proud of this and so am i :))

  • Bigdeezy74, I'm not sure if you know how to read, but in the description it is stated that all of the samples were created and recorded by modulogeek.

JFFjustforfun, You're right. It makes you good at an instrument when you can play the same scale over and over again.

    /sarcasm

Making music like this requires a ton of creativity. If you think you can do better, then prove it.

  • At least I have videos posted and actually play real instrument. Keep coming at me with your worthless insults. Unlike this little toy here it actually takes time to learn how to play guitar.

  • are you talking to me or another guy?

  • Oh please, just stop. You're acting like a child. Go hate somewhere else. I suggest blocking this person as soon as possible, modulogeek. Haterade must be a popular drink over where this person lives. XD

  • that's like saying its harder to make music on a sequencing program than a guitar. Totally different things. Please don't compare the two, it doesn't help your argument.

  • still takes talent dude. No matter what, it still takes talent.

  • hard work and creativity mate

  • dude i bet hes better then you and i bet you cant match the tune

  • btw, nice music

  • Oh would you assholes shut up already? Not all instruments need some child prodigy to play them! Enjoy the music and stop bitching. modulogeek, I think this is amazing, so don't listen to all of those haters. They're just jealous. And Bigdeezy74 needs to shut their mouth cause they're really annoying.

  • your really . I'm only one person here .

  • well i said something good about u so..

  • I'm talking about the other people on who obviously are experts on music and what requires skills and talent. NOT!!!!

  • Bigdeezy talkin about talent when he is doing covers of shitty songs like du-hast hahaha.

  • stfu sean, he atleast play a instrument, and hes good

  • maybe lrn2playnub was talking about the "trance is gay" stereotype?

doesn't matter though, he's just a flamer who sucks at trolling

  • hack that monome to play Tetris on it. Or use it for music, whatever :D

  • i think I have seen Trent Reznor use one of these.

  • looks like a computer for the 50's or 60's lol

  • I need this wonderful instrument.
