This is perfect tension. So many riders set their chains up too tight; there is meant to be a little bit of slack. Ideally you will be able to move your chain about an inch up and down with you finger (whilst stationary of course).

thank you. if they ever did skid their chain would slip all the time and eventually their cog would wear out. Having tighter chain tension ensures that your chain will hit the cog/chainring in the same place every time.
