I lived in caherdavin limericks over 30 years ago and the place was loaded with tinkers and knackers and the air was filled with coal dust complete shit hole.
He was such a great actor. We had to study "The Field" for the Junior cert. It was great, I loved it. It's quite sad though. . .I'm so happy that Richard Harris was Dumbledore, it makes me proud to be Irish, because he was even better then Michael Gambon. Dont get me wrong, Gambon is a great Dumbledore, but I'll always see Harris as the original Big D. =]
@AngryPeaXXX I just have a question, is there anyway i can find The Field, the play on the internet, because i have to study the movie too. Thank you so much=]

dont talk about Richard Harris like that you fucking cunt, if you talking about Michael Caine you can fuck off, Harris is a million times better than that fake piece of shit with his fake accent thnkin hes hard. Harris enjoyed his life and he died laughing. Upon leaving the Savoy Hotel on a stretcher he said "it was the food!" he lived a life of pure fun. And he was a hard bastard, a talented actor and a proud Irishman, like me. So you can fuck yourself.
River2walk, I won't argue with an Irishman on this, but I once spoke to John B. Keane at his pub in Listowel about the inspiration. The 'Land Wars' were a regular thing in Kerry, Cork and everywhere else from the time of the famine to the early seventies. I think it is based on a variety of similiar incidents, all with the same theme.
The "Field" was based on a true event which took place in county Kerry, Ireland around 1960 or a little earlier, where a farmer from a remote area was suspected of killing his good friend and neighbour over a tiny strip of land. The case could never be proved. Thanks for posting.
It was based on Dan Foley And Moss Moore from Reenmore in county Kerry. Dan Foley murdered Moss Moore because Moss was protesting about Dan moving his boundary fence two yards into Mosses land.
I've only seen him as Dumbledore, he was the best exactly like how he is described in the harry potter books. Michael Gambon doesn't do dumbledore justice like richard did
i quite agree with you, he portrayed him as a serene calm and balanced man, right as dumbledore is depictedin in the books. from HP3 onwards dumbledore's been crappy.
if you've only seen Harris as Dumbledore search Richard Harris Parkinson which is an interview of him with Michael Parkinson when he was a lot younger. Hes very funny
Men with red hair don't go gray, they go a glorious white! My middle stepson has red hair; I was hoping my daughter would get red hair like Richard! Instead, she got his eyes! I swear, it was because I adored him so much.
Great clip, thanks for posting this. Too bad the movie studio that produced this brilliant movie didn't give it a better promotion budget, studio pulled it from theatres really quick even though Richard Harris was nominated for an Oscar. Sean's interview is wonderful, just wish it was longer! If thre is any missing bits of Sean's interview plesae post it. Colleen in California
Years ago I saw "A Sporting Life" and just loved Richard Harris. So to see both RH and SB in the same film! I don't have the film but saw it on one of the cable ch. I wonder if anyone has the Irish stamp that has John Hurt, Richard Harris and Sean Bean on it?

True, but Michael gambon does a good job filling in for Harris as Dumbledore in my opinion.

I completely agree.
When he did it, it made Dumbledore seem like he was so kind and like he had answers and advice.
Then Michael did and he became all creepy and strict, but idk, maybe it's just me.
