Chcialbym zobaczyc kiedys Schlobitten w swojej dawnej swietnosci
Take it. Its yours now. It was grand once, a home of a prosperous and industrious people. The German Prussians built it. The laughter of generations of good people filled it. Kings came to visit. Napoleon stayed here. You destroyed it. I was born nearby and saw you torture and killed my grandmother. The bones of my ancestors are forever nearby. You desecrated the graves. You should really just tear it down. It is nothing to but a reminder of your hatreds and savagery.
I know the history of this place very well. My German friend used to spend holidays there during the Allied bombings of Berlin. However, she understands the fact that the atrocities were committed on both sides. Look at today's Warsaw, nothing remains of its glory because some savages from your country decided to destroy everything.
I am also a native of Ost Preussen - my ancestors were hunted down by Christian knights like the Native Americans. But we survived.
@ronaldpk2000 My ancestors were amongst the hunted, too. My ancestry is a little mixed, but common for the area (upper Saxon, Kasubian, Prussian (Masurian) Russian (Pskov) touch of Swedish -- on my mother's side. The "Poles were always the people from "up the rivers". Let me say "Hello". I'm impressed! You're actually able to trace your line to before 1300? Our Prussians " would "roast captured brethren alive in their armour, like chestnuts, before the shrine of a local god".
@ronaldpk2000 The building had survived undamaged. I went back once with my grandchildren to show them were I came from (mother's side). My comments weren't made as charges of atrocities by nations. Oma lived near the church at the northwest edge of the village. We never learned what happened to her body or the others, but we think they're in a mass grave north of the breeding stables about 1/2 km southwest of the main palace. To me its a grotesque grave marker.
@historatia Thanks for your comment that touched my soul. Ost Preussen like the rest of our part of Europe was a mix of cultures. I just returned from Riga where I had tears in my eyes when I contemplated St Peter's Church and its German heritage. It reminded me so much of Allenstein and my heritage. Yes, I have Baltic blood running in my veins among others. Whilst in Latvia, I visited a place where legendary Lacplesis fought with Dietrich, so reminescent of Der Ring den Nibelungen.
@historatia I am sorry to hear what happened to your Oma. Polish people raped and killed my sister because we were born in America. I was mistreated in communist Poland for being an "imperialist". I was persecuted in the U.S. for being a "communist" and called a "Pollack" (in fact, my aunt was persecuted by the communist authorities) What can I say - ordinary people are cruel and heartless regardless of their ethnicity or political convictions. Their ignorance was a cause of our suffering.
Obrób i rozjaśnij trochę zdjęcia.A tak wszystko super.pozdrawiam
