  • 2:20 onwards is sheer bliss!!

  • The last picture of Lord Krishna in his Great avtaar ( after Geeta Updesh to Arjun) is so magnificent in this video that it just seems to create a sense of completeness. Somehow even the portrait gives the sense of being so minute in front of the lord. I can't even imagine what impact it would have on Arjuna. Bliss it is . Pure divine bliss. My all time fav sholka and my all time hope :)

  • Why is there a "Single Muslim" ad on the right of the screen? Lol.

  • thanks for the trans I always sang this song but never knew what it actually meant..because even without knowing I was chanting it, even tho my brain cud not understand maybe my soul did :P

  • both the top comments are correct. He is talking about humanity as a whole. it is interesting to see that every religion has a parallel storyline that there will be a time when a Godly presence will step down to correct the wrong. Hindus just thought of it thousands of years before everyone else :)

  • jai shree krishna

  • Progress means to get out of warring zones; war leads to loss, depletion of resources, and loss of life. Wars are essentially masculine in nature, women just become poor and expolited, and children are malnourished etc. But on priniciple, when the enemy incites u on grounds of priniciple, and despite many warnings, pleadings, they dont back off, there has to be only one way out!!!Also, to protect ur interests, if u must fight, so be it, even NOW!!!

  • I've seen this show when I was a kid. I've always remembered this song.

When ever I see something morally wrong happening ..and I get angry but I cannot do anything to stop it..(because of stupid laws and the modern day society which supports morally wrong stuff) my mind plays this song. Then I become calm...thinking someday the correct time would arrive for people to act. Hopefully ...

  • thanks 4 uploading i really liked it

  • Jai Radhe Shyaam ^_^

Really grew up watchin' the Great Epic ^_^

  • They had Mahabharat on Indonesian television in the early 1990s. Mahabharata and other Indian epics are still very popular in Indonesia thanks to the wayang traditions which were created during the age of the Hindu kingdoms.

  • I love this title song...very meaningful.. It reminds me of childhood days.. Thanks!!

  • thanks so much. really like the shloka part

  • I have so many memories with my Maa. Every time I hear the song I recollect all of those happy memories.

Thank you for putting this up.

  • When the BBC had this show in the late 1980s they used a different opening theme (which was an instrumental if I remember right) and a set of titles featuring clips from the show itself rather than paintings. I don't suppose anybody has uploaded that on here as it is the one I remember from my youth.

  • @bhasinuscuscable

Ohk...I didn't knew we were talking about God here...and am not sure how that came in...also am confused about the illusion part you are referring to.

However, its just belief, you have yours and I have mine. But, if names aren't important, would you name your child as 'idiot'? I believe what you name your child does matter, not cause it will change your love for him, but it matters cause you love him.

Though am planning to name mine Darth Vader...

  • @bhasinuscuscable

Ohk....It is clear that you didn't understand a thing about what I was talking, also you did not check to what I was referring to...

However I find your overwhelming urge to reply completely understandable.

Also, to the point you made, I humbly disagree. I believe that name holds a lot of power.

  • Whenever righteousness vanishes o descendant of bharata, unrighteousness grows then I will come to support/help the righteous people and to vanquish the unrighteous people and to re-establish the righteousness I will come every time, every age ,every era is what these lines truly mean as said by Krishna to arjuna, the descendant of bharata

  • @jaikugoku

Didnt Shree Krishna referred to Arjuna himself as Bharat?

  • The shlok in the end- yada yada hi dharmasya....

I wish it would keep going on forever

  • For those who rated dislikes, must be Muslims.

  • @yeshu26uk Please don't stereotype.

  • BR Chopra's masterpiece. The casting, the acting, the direction, everything is perfect and all attempts to recreate Mahabharat after this have failed in comparison. Truly this effort of BR Sir is timeless and it is only befitting that it is of the greatest epic that such a serial was made. @abymuzika it is not India that is referred to as Bharata but humankind in general. God is not specific to any country or race. At that point of time Bharat vansh meant mankind in general.

  • very nostalgic

  • @bhasinuscuscable ummmm..........not HINDUS ONLY--------EVEYRYONE! gos belongs to everyone not just hindus!!!! lol

  • I used to go to my neighbors house to watch this.. still can remember those days..

  • refreshed some old memories ........ that lovely sunday mornings....as soon as the b.r chopra symbol started & the song of it .......then 'mahabharat' that sound really....use to make it feel as a sunday.....really .

  • No it doesn't mean India... this is the Name of Arjuna.. Krishna addressing him.... in this shlok yada yada hi dharmasya:

  • Does it really mean "India"? Why would God only care about dharma in India, and not elsewhere in the world? Could there be another meaning, otherwise it's narrow.

  • @AbhijitDu : no it doesn't mean India .. its the name of Arjuna ... krishna addressing him

  • kya sunday hota tha..really i miss it

sab log subah tayyar hoke dd1 dekhne baithte the.even chote chote bacche bhi..

    memoriessssssssss

  • this is LEGEND....wait for it......DAIRY!!!!

  • "EPIC"............

  • please please please someone translate the rest of this song not just The B Gita part i'm trying to learn hindi and love this show but cant pick out the words

  • @Widdowson2020 if you watch the episodes here on utube posted by rajshri---with english subtitles--you'll be able to pick it up very quickly, because if you already know some then picking up more is easy--and as you pick it up you'll eventually realize what they're ACTUALLY saying--and not the mere translation!! LOL!

  • what a days Thnx for uploding

  • Amazing days those were

  • reminds me of my childhood

  • cool

  • Getting back to music, I think this song is based on Raag Megh. Any one throwing more light on this?

  • @bhasinuscuscable :- You are right my friend the answer is ISKCON which is spreading like bush fire in all countries ....thanks to the almighty LORD KRISHNA

  • @Rossoneriful

    jai shri krishna!

    radhe radhe

  • lol why are u giving the verse of yada yada hi dharmasya a wrong meaning..The verse is from Shrimad bhagwat geeta..where not a word like hindu was mentioned. dont talk like a muslim!

  • bhasinuscucable i m a hindu 2 and i think they had a better way to say that, but no one's god will be happy 2 hear that people are fighting over religion, god is of everyone not one person...they just all look different but they are the same...i wish u understand i m not trying 2 be mean... :-) everyone's god is the same and they all should be respected....i love this song btw i watched the whole movie, its really good

  • @giridharnagar Truth adapts in form to the mind of the receiver, but remains Truth in essence, thus making every religion a form of the same Truth that is God... or something along those lines?

  • very happy wow sounds have power . sure its heaven to hear doordarshan take me to my child hood

bro i am telling you true incidents

  • need more volume...

  • Im from Sr Lanka. This went on TV with sinhala subtitles. I was about 9 @ that time. Loved it from the beginning....

  • When I used to watch this TV serial we dint even have a TV, I and my grandpa used to go to a neighbour's house where many others also gathered and used to watch it. As a kid the fight scenes were really amazing to me, after a few years when once again it was telecast I watched it again and enjoyed it even more. Thanks to an Italian friend of mine to whom I was explaining the Indian culture, I once again fell in love with the greatest Indian TV show ever.

  • if you've ever done bikram yoga teacher training in the last 2 years this brings up memories of sleepless nights!

  • Loved the Mahabharat and the songs in it

  • @abhijit184: I so relate with you man, I was brought up in a joint family and on every weekend, all us brothers and sisters used to fight with our granny to watch Jungle Boy ! This is so nostalgic ! :)

  • Absolutely man - infact more than the serial, I remember all then people who used to see it with me and have passed on. My grandfather used to read the Gita twice a day and I would sit at his feet and he would explain the subtleties and implications of the dialogs.

My grandmom would be praying during the title songs - which we found funny as kids but now realize why.

All in all a wonderful way to spend Sunday mornings with the family

  • this is nostalgic, i remember my childhood days with this, actually my family members used to watch this , and i used to hate it coz jungle book was also at the same time at around 9:30 am , I am 23 now and after reading bhagwat gita i understood why mahabharat is great............... KUDOS TO KRISHNA THE GREAT . PLZ COME BACK AND SAVE MANKIND........

  • yada yada hi dharmasya = jab jab dharm ka

glani-r-bhavati baharat = apmaan hoga bharatvarsh mein

abhyutthanam adharmasya = adharm ka vinaash karne ke liye

    tadatmanam srijamyaham= main susajjit hokar

paritranay sadhoona = sadhuon ke uddhaar ke liye

vinashay-ch-duskritaam= aur dushton ke vinaash ke lie

dharmasansthapnarthay= dharm ki punar-sthapna karne ke lie

sambhavami yuge yuge = har yug mein main avtarit hounga

  • Whenever dharma will be disregarded in India, (then) to curb the adharma (bad deeds/forces), I'l appear in disguise, to support/ strengthen the sadhus ( saints/ good people) (and) to destroy the negative people/forces (and) to establish dharma, I will come (in this world) in every age.

  • yes, meanwhile, I also read the gita. thx anyway.

  • @abymuzika

    Whole world, not India.

Lord Krishna is not hindu god.

  • @abymuzika

god gave conditions...he will come to help sadhu..

but in this centuary thr r no wise people

  • @abymuzika thx so much

  • @abymuzika

    In India? why only India?

Krishna is master of the whole Universe. And serving Krishna is highest dharma for every nation and every living being.

  • @abymuzika glanir bhavati bhart in this sentence bharat does not mean india but Arjuna bhartha means decendant of the great king bharat (arjuna) tadatmanam srijamyaham not in disguise but in his original form

Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion--at that time I descend Myself.

  • @abymuzika best translation

  • @abymuzika abhyutthanam adharmasya means 'rise of adharma' and not 'adharm ka vinash'

srijamyaham means 'aham srijami - i create myself'

  • @abymuzika thanksss friend....i was just abt to ask abt the meanings...thankss aloott...
