That's so cool you live by ponds and get to see hatchling's yah sometimes you got to let nature takes it's course but at time's it pull's your heart strings and you wanna save it I know I would ponds around here just have alot of res I think alot of them people dumped once they got to big someone I know found a hatchling painted turtle so i'll keep my eye's open around the time the egg's start to hatch I do the same just watch the tank for hrs...lol
wow clyde would of had a big place...lol...wow 125g that is what koopa will need when he grows up....where did you find koopa at...yah a raise would come in handy
i live around a bunch of ponds and I usually don't take them in when I see a baby snapping turtle, but Koopa was crossing the road and I knew where he was going there was no water. So he was either going to get squished or die in the dried pond to where he was headed.
I'm glad I took him in, I watched his new tank for 2 hours straight today. I tried to play Warcraft but I felt sitting on my couch watching the fish swim in the current of the new badass filter was more fun than playing a paladin.
you should of just jumped right to the 40g that way you could of saved on just skipping the 30g I was gonna get the boys a 20 but given the option for a 30 I went for it especially as big as a snapper gets...lol yah I did the same I bought a 50g filter and it is to big I wedged a vcr tape in to take up some of the gap but the filter never worked right...but like you said you'll be set next time
It was Karma man. I bought that cage for Clyde like 4 Days before I found Koopa. It just happened to be a turtle tank and it was on sale. And since Clyde can't hop but two inches max the height was no problem.
When I went shopping yesterday a sweet 125g tank caught my eye. Eventually... I will have to save up for one of those or make him a personal Koi Fish pond outside my window....
IT's a 30 gallon tank with like 8 to 10 gallons of water in there. I got a freakin huge filter and it doesn't fit the aquarium right, but the way i see it the next size i'll be getting is a 40g/L so I'll be set.

Very nice tank! Did you take your pets to the vet from the lizards? Trust me, you'll be glad.

I did, and they're both fine. He said what you said about Clyde, and I was pretty dumb for feeding him a lizard, but damn it was hella cool.
They said since Koopa was from the wild he was AOK for eating an ocasional lizard but not as a staple in his diet.
It's about to be winter and I won't find any more.
THX :D
