It's just that reptile --> human evolution belongs in the pages of Marvel comics, not science. The sci-fi comics just speed up the information-adding process a bit.
@ibanezsam4 I guess you skipped the dedication? Day believes in an invisible sky daddy, and worse he has a particular flavor. He can't defend his god directly since he does have enough brains to know you cant defend myths. He would get his ass handed to him. At least other theists have the balls to defend the myths of the bible. So yes, he is defending Zeus, Apollo and all the other irrational religious beliefs humans have held - in a very weak and cowardly way.
@ibanezsam4 I wonder. Do you think Vox believes in virgin births, or Noah, or humans living in fish for 3 days? Does he think Exodus 21 are the words of the creator of 100 billion galaxies? Is he YEC? I wonder how he *logically* argues for Christianity over say Islam as the correct version of god? Does Vox think Numbers 31 represents his god?
@csadler so completely disregarding the remaining 100 odd pages of damning text to only go over the dedication (you are very single minded it seems)... lets just run with that and then remember that richard dawkins is currently under the belief that aliens seeded earth for us to grow off the backs of crystals (scientifically speaking that is literally insane). and you seem unable to cope with the fact that only time vox ever uses god in reference to himself is the dedication (darwin did the same
@ibanezsam4 "he is quoted as saying "i believe the earth was seeded by other being and allowed to evolve."
Now tell us, if you are honest, what question was he asked in order to get this response and who asked it? If you answer this honestly you will find out this is not what he believes. The record is quite clear on this.
@ibanezsam4 (possible dup). Please show us the question he was asked to get this response as well as who asked it. Is it your contention that he * believes* this? If so show me the complete text and where you got it. If you don't you are a liar or and ignorant quote miner.
@csadler okay, youtube blocks external links (understandable considering the amount of spam it would would probably generate) attempting to post link to your personal profile
@ibanezsam4 So nothing on your claim that Dawkins * believes* life was seeded? Come on now. What was the question asked and how did he answer it in total. Or I will take the non answer as proof you now understand how wrong you were. Or do you still contend that he *believes* this. If you have a link give me enough key words to find it in Google. And no * creationist* propaganda please. We all know how they love to lie for Jesus.
@csadler holy crap man, can you not do research yourself? did all your professors hate you? must have.. you see, in the legitimate article i linked to you, it gave you the context and the direct quote from the source. all you simply had to do was google the scene in said film (which makes me wonder if you read or merely glanced at said article) if that in and of itself was not enough. i can link to more blogs if you wish. but you should haul your own ass. builds character
@ibanezsam4 What link? And I *have* read the entire context.
"Stein asked Dawkins under what circumstances intelligent design could have occurred."
Stein was pushing for an answer. So Dawkins said
"Dawkins responded that in the case of the "highly unlikely event that some such 'Directed Panspermia' was responsible for designing life on this planet, the alien beings would themselves have to have evolved,"
So *no* he does not *believe* this. Even you can't be that stupid!
@csadler not really, he in an attempt to cover up the last 30 years of the human genome project's findings in cell complexity, i.e. one cell holding more information than a public library and dwarfing the capabilities of current Intel processors, is now saying "oh yes the complexity of earth based life forms could have come from er-er outer space!" while the rest of the world with a brain goes "holy shit, he gets paid for this?"
@csadler its hilarious that he has to to put the ending note on that quote "the alien beings themselves would have to have evolved" because the case for darwinian theory is getting worse, but his reputation is entirely based on this waning theory so he has to say "yeah its not working so much here, but y'know a place it can work? outer space!! yeah where's my check?"
@csadler now i sent you a 2nd link last night, you'll like this one because it has scientific reasoning in it. y'know that thing pseudo-intellectuals like you worship at the alter of? yeah that thing, read the 2nd link its more snarky and shit without having to do with a church (its a blog). if anything i can start posting it on your page again and make a secondary comment here saying i have, just in case you go delete happy again

@csadler oh my god you are a complete moron, i said youtube blocks links in the comments of videos and then i successfully linked them to your personal page (as evidenced by you reading them, and then deleting said comments off of your page cuz they ain't there. i check). are you really so butt hurt that you can't take dissenting opinions on your page? i've noticed the conversation has changed since i sent the book review over, that got deleted too. funny how that works
@ibanezsam4 I read NO links of yours. Just where are they??? I *never* delete any channel comments - quick look there would show even an child like you at least that much.
@csadler i would love nothing more that to put like 50 comments on your page right now and watch you delete all of them, but that can be reported as spam. so i might just do it here. you like to save comments that say "burn in hell im not talking to you! wahhh" but when someone starts sending you links and calling you out you have to protect your "youtube cred"? how spineless can you be? and you accuse me of having no balls? its like a eunuch dissing to a porn star
@csadler i've posted 3 directly to your page, someone feeling butthurt over there? how could you reference an article in a video comment and not have seen the very article i posted on your wall (couldn't do it here on this video because i got an error message). you gave yourself away earlier in your comments when you said you read it. didn't know honest "men" believed in censorship
@ibanezsam4 I read it by doing the *Google* work and *finding* it. You know you can't post links and you are *so* stupid you can't even figure this out. No wonder Vox is your hero.
@csadler oh you fool. you fell into that perfectly. last night at roughly midnight i posted yet another comment on your profile with link attached, low and behold it isn't on your page this morning. you continue to deny i do post these and have called me a liar. so last night i made a video of me posting said comment which i will be uploading after this. i will share said video on your page, and this one if im able. and with the creationists in your comments i think. have a good day
@csadler seriously, do try and read at least the first half of the book, avoid the later philosophy parts if you must but its healthy to read a rebuttal to your own views. even if you dont come away convinced you at least can evaluate your own opinions for the weak parts (thats my old philosophy teacher talking). i mean really, your own faith in nothing can't be sooooo weak that it would be easily shaken by one book could it?
@csadler further more your reactions are that of a five year old making me think you're an only child who always got his way from his vegan bisexual parents who insisted on making you happy throughout your frivolous existence because they didn't have the balls to spank you. furthermore you have a superiority complex founded in an opinion (which remember are like assholes) that is held by 20% of the population. which oddly trends closer to a mental disorder than it does a dogma (i have the stat
@ibanezsam4 I thought my tone was ok? But funny, this is the type of reaction you do get when you remind the *believer* the content of what they believe. Now look at *your* tone. You question my parents, call me an asshole and question my mental status. And all I did was mention Noah, Exodus 21, Numbers 31 or the fact that there is no evidence proclaiming one version of invisible man over another. Try not to un-hinge again. Its most un-becoming.
@csadler nah it was snarky white man lingo for the most part. the kind of "humor" that is only entertaining to deliverer whilst the witnesses to simply look on and think "virgin"
@ibanezsam4 Do you believe in the global flood and Noah with his boat? How old is the Earth? Do you think its moral to have slaves like Exodus 21 says? Are you brave enough to answer? :-)
@csadler i believe in mass event of cataclysm. and, in fact if you read the original hebrew the implication in the verbage is that the earth was already present "created the heavens" section. so chalk me down as an "old earth creationist"
@csadler he does believe but does that change the content of the book you never read and are simply cherry-picking from internet quotes???? does it?? does it?? answer forthcoming anytime soon?
@ibanezsam4 Not in the slightest. But it does show that he is smart enough to not battle head on the true claims of religion as he knows he would get crushed, just like all do who have faced Hitchens for example. And then, the Godly jump all over this book making claims for it that the arguments made in it don't support! And I bet he knew this would happen. At the end of the day there is no evidence for a theistic sky daddy. A Deist has some chance, but not the Theist.
@csadler no need to debate when he is simply refuting what dawkins/hitchens/harris have already written. plus he wouldn't if he is a self described Christian there's a verse that goes something like "..like casting pearls before swine". needless to say it can be critiqued, i'll post another link to your profile.

oh dear crap, wow....yup, ur right i'm irrational..... im sorry i dont believe in the sky wizard........and that he made this universe, or planet in 7 DAYS..........
Randomicity. What the hell are you talking about? If you're commenting on my " Gnostics " post, they had some eccentric views, but their disavowal of literalism and their conviction that the acquisition of divine knowledge is individual, stands as their best traits. Give me other specific examples from any of my posts on Day's book, or any of the other fields you say I know nothing about, and I'll be happy to slap you down. Bring it on please!
Thanks di66en6ion for your response. Day's book was certainly grist for the comment mill. The whole faith versus non-faith wheel continues to spin,on the web,and in dozens of new books I've read since his effort. On your point,I think there's a big difference between Utopianistic ideals and zealotry. We can aspire to the best possible ends, but no ideology can guarantee them. Religionism and scientism arrogantly try to guarantee the ends. That is always folly.
I highly recommend " The Family " by Jeff Sharlet. While I object to some of the hyperbole of Days " unholy three ", the face of american Christianity is examined in this book in withering detail. The " Family " or the " Fellowship ", as it was once called, is a made in America fundamentalist movement that operates in the back rooms of government. They see themselves as "the new chosen, congressmen, generals, and foreign dictators" who meet and plan a global Christianist utopia. Be afraid
O.K. Vox, no more atheist bashing. Clearly they are to soft a target. It's time for you to throw down with heretical thinkers from your own faith, like Marcus Borg, Tom Harpur, John Shelby Spong and a host of others. There isn't just one picture of Christianity. It has led a colourful and complex life. The diversity within Christianity is proof of that. It's not atheism or religion that is dangerous. It's absolutism or utopianism that is the toxin and it poisons all equally.
Vox's arguments can be spread apart as easily as they are focused.
It's being conciously anti-dogmatic that most people lack imo. Utopianism can be a good thing, if you didn't have people that wanted to make the world a better place we wouldn't have a lot of advances in the field of sciences that save so many lives every day.
Almost done days book. So lets see if I've got this right. Satan probably governs our world and science is blind to this. But God in a one off revelation in the 13.7 billion year history of the cosmos, on an obscure planet, to an iron age race, in the form of an incarnate God man, is all we need? Modern man is perhaps 200,000 years old. We just got here! We've barely begun the next great phase of evolution, that of conciousness. Oversimplified religious visions are not all we need! Sorry!
I generally dislike the rational response squad for the way they structure themselves socially but they do have a good post ripping this book's arguments to shreds.
Day refers to the Gnostic Christians as " heretics"? These first century Christians were closer to the truth than the literalists will ever be. And Bart Ehrman, author of "Gods Problem" and other books as an "apostate"? The further I get into the "Irrational Atheist" the more I think this man needs to consult with contemporary scholars and historians from within his faith, who are challenging his pretty damn close to literalist theology! I might suggest Tom Harpurs "Pagan Christ" as a good start.
Page 159 from days Irrational Atheist & I paraphrase, "A fish squirrel boned a monkey...Satan shrieked "let Dawkins be" and brought forth a meme." The footnote follows,"Should the families of Harris,Hitchens or Dennett need a similar epitaph(after the presumed deaths of the three)they may rest secure knowing that my poetic services are available." No "sermon on the mount" Jesus for this dude. Just what kind of " Christian " is this guy? I'm starting to smell a " non-denominational" skunk!
Gotta love hate literature...hey these men may have their personal quirks (doesn't discredit them) but at least they aren't burning women for witch craft or exploiting children.
read the damn book. I dare dare you to say that the author isn't being rational in the book IF you read it. But you're probably TOO SCARED to read it because you want to CLING to your faith in teh New Atheists.
every word you anti human is a testament too how puny and weak your god is. if he NEEDS wing nuts like you to defend him constantly. And don't say it's out of love of your slave master because that would be an insult to his obvious vanity.
Just in case I am to be accused of penning what appears to be yet another angry diatribe from an angry atheist... I myself would concur. But let me remind you RE-LIG-OUS, at least I'm directing my anger at people who can presumably fight back and have not instead chosen YOUR preferred victims, children.
I hope all the bad things in life happen to you!
-Sincerely
Your conscience assuming you have one you f'in monsters!
@6StringPhilosopher haha, as if believing that I'm an ape-man and that nothing came from nothing is any less absurd than the belief in a creator. What kind of philosopher are you? Do you know what philosophy means? Literally, the love of knowledge. That is, all possible knowledge, and not just the knowledge that supports your own biased presumptions.
When your not eating Jewish babies (as is instructed by the Koranus) or marrying 6 year old girls or banning children stories with pigs in them or cutting the hand off of people stealing bread to feed their families or having pageants with children carrying M-16's spouting hatred. What do you like to do with your time PIANO? What's your favorite anti human pro murder activities?
You can't argue with religious people, don't you understand? If they responded to reason, they would be athiests and there would be nothing to argue about :) So for all the athiests out there, don't waste your time trying to argue with someone about their belief system. That's why it's called a "belief system". You can belief whatever you want, just allow me to not believe. Thanks.
The author employs ad-hominems against all atheists (atheists are parasites), but reserves especial vitriol against Dawkins (an old grump with asperger's), Hitchens (a drunk), and Harris (an extasy-popper who hasn't finished his Ph.D).
He redefines science to suit his purposes. He presumes to know more than people who really do know what they're talking about. There are many more problems with only this small sample of the book that I would not recommend the reading any of it.
LMFAO..its vox day. He just wants to be the next Ann Coulter. Nothing to see here..move along...move along...

Bring it on please!
freakinphil 2 years ago

It's absolutism or utopianism that is the toxin and it poisons all equally.
freakinphil 3 years ago
Vox's arguments can be spread apart as easily as they are focused.
It's being conciously anti-dogmatic that most people lack imo. Utopianism can be a good thing, if you didn't have people that wanted to make the world a better place we wouldn't have a lot of advances in the field of sciences that save so many lives every day.

I agree

Di66en6ion 3 years ago
The only thing the RRS' response to The Irrational Atheist "rips apart" is itself.
Randomicity912 2 years ago
Day refers to the Gnostic Christians as " heretics"? These first century Christians were closer to the truth than the literalists will ever be. And Bart Ehrman, author of "Gods Problem" and other books as an "apostate"? The further I get into the "Irrational Atheist" the more I think this man needs to consult with contemporary scholars and historians from within his faith, who are challenging his pretty damn close to literalist theology! I might suggest Tom Harpurs "Pagan Christ" as a good start.
freakinphil 3 years ago
Ah, another moron who is clueless about contemporary scholarship in just about every field. Kudos. Few people can so effectively own themselves.

I'm starting to smell a " non-denominational" skunk!

read the damn book. I dare dare you to say that the author isn't being rational in the book IF you read it. But you're probably TOO SCARED to read it because you want to CLING to your faith in teh New Atheists.
marcdaddy33 3 years ago
"CLING to your faith" Seems like an ironic statement.
Aether91 3 years ago
Hmm, I'll go read it and rip this authors arguments to shreds.
There are so many misconceptions about atheism these days it's pathetic. You have already shown at least two misconceptions.
Di66en6ion 3 years ago
every word you anti human is a testament too how puny and weak your god is. if he NEEDS wing nuts like you to defend him constantly.

The person who believes in invisible beings and fairy tale land is telling us we're irrational?
6StringPhilosopher 4 years ago 9
@6StringPhilosopher haha, as if believing that I'm an ape-man and that nothing came from nothing is any less absurd than the belief in a creator. What kind of philosopher are you? Do you know what philosophy means? Literally, the love of knowledge. That is, all possible knowledge, and not just the knowledge that supports your own biased presumptions.

- "christians are stupid"
- "atheists are delusional"
You can't argue with religious people, don't you understand? If they responded to reason, they would be athiests and there would be nothing to argue about :) So for all the athiests out there, don't waste your time trying to argue with someone about their belief system. That's why it's called a "belief system". You can belief whatever you want, just allow me to not believe. Thanks.
Signed, An athiest.

I don't think I'm delusional, but if were delusional, I wouldn't be well qualified to assess my delusion or lack thereof.
How about we turn that around:
Moslems are delusional.
Am I even 'allowed' to say that?
