it occurs to me that the second best tactic for dealing with a line of police using excessive force, is to grab individual officers and drag them into the midst of the protestors, and oh, let's say disarm them then handcuff them to stuff and leave them there.. I said second best, it's not a perfect solution, but its better than returning the violence, plus the remainig officers are less likely to tear gas their own along with the crowd.

They should file a lawsuit against the cops that were beating them there, or the police department, for excessive use of force, and for those who were injured, assault resulting in injury. Let's see if a jury will accept the police (as defendants) being in their right to use that force (shown in this clip) or if it's abuse of power.
I'm betting the latter if this ever went to trial.

Heres how I look at it, I love the police, I respect them immensely for putting their ass on the line to stop criminals and going into dangerous scenarios and sometimes very little pay, but honestly the police need a better system of consequences, we are in a crises where I am sure a lot of people need a job and are willing to do it perfectly, if an officer decides, "hey I'm attacking someone innocent", they should get fired and replaced with someone better.

That was nothing compared to Berkeley in 1972. The cops were giving love taps compared to what happened back then. They didn't even use tear gas. Back in 72 they used so much tear gas the whole city of Berkeley was coughing and had burning eyes. The cops in the video never even went into stomp and drag mode. it occurs to me that the second best tactic for dealing with a line of police using excessive force, is to grab individual officers and drag them into the midst of the protestors, and oh, let's say disarm them then handcuff them to stuff and leave them there.. I said second best, it's not a perfect solution, but its better than returning the violence, plus the remainig officers are less likely to tear gas their own along with the crowd.

I agree with what the protestors are doing, but pushing too close, yelling in the cops faces...if you get into anyone's personal space, inches from their face, you are provoking an attack.
They really do have most of America supporting them. We're all frustrated and tired of it. But they need to stay focused on Non-Violence, including Non-Provocation. No destroying propery either.
The cops aren't the enemy. They're feeling the cut-backs too.
If they stick to this, they can change the world.
