I think I should mention that this is actually a cover, the original is by Lowell Fulson, on the excellent 'The Old Blues Singer' album, it's got Steve Cropper on it, loads of great songs and riffs! Love Kim's playing though, his style was inflluential on mine when I was getting the hang of it, and he's got good taste in his choice of songs.
This guy has to be at least 60 in this video. He basically ruled over Savoy Brown - and its changes - for years. I was just reviewing some SB tunes when he was at the helm and ordered their "Collection" CD. Shit -- just awesome. Really enjoy this tune. Seems effortless, doesn't it. This tune is funky but hard. I'm going to learn it and spit it back out.
Excellent vid, MusicUCanSee. Damm I had to wait till Sept 2007 to 1st see Kim, your right, what a gent he is. To hear the whole Foreigner start-up from him. Wow!
Talkin with a legend like Kim took my mind away from all the bad stuff goin on.
@killerincognito---S Lyrics on Line, I have found lirics to all the savoy songs I needed and I believe the hteir are not to many songs they don' have. INDIANA383
All right Kim! Sounding as good as ever or better!!! I have every LP and still spin em often! If you have not seen Kim Simmonds play Live in the flesh you simply have NO idea what you are missing...no joking! He can and most likely will play anything! Beyond words! Thanks for posting and sharing these videos.
Yep, Kim will rock the fillings out of your teeth...and a heck of a nice guy, I regret not taping the chat session we had after the gig at the coachhouse but I was so happy to be talking to one of my all time heroes I didn't even think of it at the time. I did get some really cool photos of me with the band though so the memories are secure.
Still creating great new music after 40+ years, and sounding better now than ever. Too bad so many people stopped listening years ago. Kim is an underrated genius.
Not everybody stopped listening...theres still us...it's when FM radio hit the skids that the true rockers of days past vanished from the public eye. The music industry is in a hell of a mess right now and going through some major changes, it'll be interesting to see how the business comes out of this on the other end, hopefull they'll find a way to make it worth the artist's time to even bother making records and touring...right now it's a losing proposition for starving artists.
Used to watch a band in High School play She's got a ring in his nose and a ring on her hand from the '69 Blue Matter LP. Lot's of scorching solo's from Kim over the years.
61 goin on 29..the man hasn't lost a step through the years, in fact it's my humble opinion that the music he's making right now is the best he's done. 'STEEL' rocks, there are at least three hit records on the album which unfortunately won't be discovered by the 'mainstream' because the corporate marketing geniuses have their heads so far buried bands like Savoy Brown can't even get a record deal anymore. Thank you mp3's and internet bootlegging.
Still putting on good shows, the crowd is always pleased, Like when he blew Johnny Winter off the stage a few weeks ago in Albany, NY!

Almost as good as the Steve Loney song with the same title.
