As @MALAKASNYC1 says, if the fish is eaten raw, then good luck! It is a tapeworm, so IT IS HARMFUL TO HUMANS. However, if the fish is properly cooked then there's nothing to worry about. Freezing the fish in a regular freezer will NOT kill it. For this you need to either cook your salmon to 131 F for 5 min or freeze it to -4 F (not an option on regular freezer)
On another note, DO NOT FREAK out & stop eating sushi from rest. Sushi is previously frozen to very low temp for this same reason
I was reading something else on line and it said it was not harmful to the one thats eating the fish. FYI so everyone on here should do more research before judgement.
I just pulled a dead worm from the first bite I was going to take of my salmon! I googled as well, and came across this, it looked exactly like what I pulled from my salmon. Even though my salmon was prepackaged and frozen, and I cooked it. I never want to eat it again! Holy smokes thats sick. Also, found right below skin. And I'm a sushi lover! :-(
I have just opened a can of Ocean rise wild Pacific Red Salmon and as i was taking the skin off and breaking it up for my salad i noticed these funny ringlike things close to the skin between the layers of flesh, i kept on looking and found 3 and all looked like this but were dead! thankfully! I thought i'd Google it as i do anything and found this clip. Definately not going for the salad now, maybe a BBQ is on the cards! how do you take that sort of thing back to the shops for a refund?
I just took back 5 packs of salmon to our grocer for a refund. FREAKED me out when I saw that worm wriggling in my dinner-to-be! I can't eat salmon now. I loved sushi, but it will take me a while to get this out of my head!
people tellme they don't do any harm, I say bullshit anything thats that small, requires food, and lives inside other living things, has to do some kind of harm.

As long as it is cooked it cannot harm you . Raw fish with this worm can really Fu up . THis is why i stopped eating Salmon Sushi .
TUna does not have this but Cod does .
Throwing the filets on ice will bring out the worms then put up to the light and pick out . LIl red spots are the tell
