  • This woman is out of key

  • I can help with the luggage.

  • and a comfortable silence between her and me - she contributed to songs to the Hank Garland soundtrack - in case you have not found out yourself yet -

  • Cool video:) I love madeleine peyroux

  • Awesome video !!!

  • I first heard this during the credit role on the Simpsons. I just love the laid back and relaxed pace. Her voice is perfect. I could listen to her all night long.

  • I recently heard Madelaine Peyroux for the first time on Jazz FM in Toronto and was immediately a fan. This unique rendition of a classic song with her smooth vocal style is very relaxing, and a perfect accompaniment for the evocative Homer

paintings you have chosen here. Just wonderful! Thanks for posting!

  • She and Zooey Deschanel have similar voices. Very sweet!

  • J'♥.Merci

  • one love

  • God, she is so lovely. What a voice, what a talent!

  • Oh, so very nice! I seem to love everything she does!

  • WELCOME SUMMER!

  • She sounds so reminiscent of Billie Holiday......The Winslow Homer Paintings are a nice touch.......one of my favorite New England Artists. Andrew Wyeth would be a good choice for any other videos you might add.

  • .... :) just smile to you, Caro Blue... :)

  • Great cover of this song. I'm so glad I discovered Madeleine. Nice to have the paintings there, too.

  • Madeleine excelente, como siempre

y esas ilustraciones de Homer y Prendergast son que ni mandadas a hacer

    Bien por el video

  • That was a perfect sax solo. Every note was thought out. Reminded me of Paul Desmond. That dude never wasted a note.

  • @Blu3J4y

I can't get this sax solo off my mind. I've been listening to jazz since 1966..and I have never heard anything so sublime. (Gary Foster?) (well, we know what cannonball could do...) I have isolated it to repeat, so I can learn it...on guitar..or piano. It's such a culmination of hard work finally turning into this conversational loveliness...Tom Waits sax player in the seventies (Frank Vicari) could also sound like he wasn't soloing, but simply expanding the song. A real master.

  • shes better in french

  • Madeline es magnifa en sus interpretaciones <3<3

  • simply not as good as frank sinatra. sorry

  • @cel1888tic nobody cares

  • @Judingo Just stating a fact

  • @cel1888tic Yeah, I know, Franky is pretty bad ass, but she's wonderful to.

  • this lady is truly ..wonderful....have her CD's.....each time I hear this.....I want to listen more and more......so soft and unsual voice is magic

  • Trully beautiful.

  • Simlpy beautiful

  • love this version of ....Summer Wind......

  • I love the collection of paintings. Very appropriate and fitting the mood of slower lifestyle in the countryside and romance potential.

  • Her voice just grows on you...reminds me of a spring evening in my native New Orleans with the air thick with the scent of night blooming jasmine, a tall cool glass, smooth jazz in the background and a comfortable silence between me and her. A man can dream, can't he? :-) Thanks for the post tangled!

  • @atimtambaby you are welcome fellow New Orleanian :)

  • @tangledupincerulean

I should have known!!! Lakeview boy here (from when Lakeview was a middle class subdivision). I swear this reminds me of strolling through the gardens in City Park and the Jasmine plant in my back yard.

  • @atimtambaby nice dream...

  • @bluesborn Thanks for the kind words. To a die-hard romantic such commentary is heartfelt. Warmly, Al

  • This is one of the most romantic songs in the world, and the paintings you chose are perfect. Thank you.

  • The picture at 1:40 fitted so perfect there together with the sax! :)

  • I can smell the warm sunshine and cool breeze, wow!

  • Heard "gettin' more fun out of life" on the radio and she sounded

like a drunk. Is that the sound of the 21st century? Pretty voice but please take some vitamins and put some life into your performaning.

  • beatufil song!!

  • Fantastic voice!....I Adore this song x

  • Beautiful voice!... Just so good to chill out to x

  • Very nice video and I love very much her voice, she is a great artist!

Thanks krysana my friend and tangledupincerulean for sharing. shephren

  • Saw her at the Blue Note back in April when she came to NYC, she was simply divine. Sounded incredibly like Billie Holiday, save without that pitiful and sorrowful twist to her voice - but then again, Billie was a blues singer for a reason.

She has such a wondrous sound to her vocals, they're slightly raspy but she manages to keep that in check. Her voice carries and flows with the music, and it accompanies her pianist - Michael Kannan - VERY well because it sings just as Michael's chords play.

  • A beautiful summer day, sunbeams through on open window, eating icecream in bed and this song..There's nothing better!

  • Bellissimo ..ed è dir poco . Un video che mi ha rasserenato , e dio sa se neho bisogno ! Grazie chiunque tu sia grazie infinite . Un bacio tenero a chi me lo ha inviato .

    Walter

  • Madeleine...

    her voice...

    her style...

    is just perfect...

    and the paintings too...

    thanks tangledupincerulean!!.

  • You are very welcome :)

  • Mercer formidable, Madeleine unforgettable

  • i lied in down in the grass with my bf,

and we listened to her songs.

    it was beautiful.

  • Frank Sinatra knows how to sing this song. This woman does know also. She has rhythm, soul, inflection, phrasing, melody and energy. Other than that I'd say you don't know what jazz is about.

  • I agree. She sings it 'cool'

easy, breathless, like she's not workin'

Isn't that what summer wind feels like on your face

soft and cool - it feels good

    just like her voice

  • Negative today aren't we? :D

  • lol...Love this song and her... love it!!!!

  • music to work with, music to love with....someone special.

  • soothes the soull...heals the heart

  • Cover of a 1965 Song by Mayer and lyrics by Johnny Mercer. Beautiful lyrics...kind of an old standard style of melody. Quite Lovely.

  • Just in time... This makes my poor heart feel good..

  • I'm in love with Madeleine!

  • I shall duel you for her heart!

  • this is so great. thanks

  • nice...very nice,thank you...peace...m____

  • Sublime

  • Does anyone know the name of the painting of the couple dancing in the moonlight? (1:50-2:01) Love it!!! And the song of course. lol

  • Summer Night 1890 by Winslow Homer

  • The sax solo is eargasmic mmmmmmm

  • Both music and the artwork selections make this an excellent and most enjoyable video. Thanks for posting it.

    Thanks for the invite, irma.

  • Such a lovely video. I wonder if you could learn to work your program so all the pictures are the same sizes and without the white postcard frames?

  • Frank Sinatra did it best.

  • He's not my type, sorry. I love Madeleine's voice.

  • Heard Martin on the Simpsons sing the first line, when everyone leaves his swimming pool and Nelson steals his shorts! haha love this song, im straight on iTunes!

  • Madeleine's version of this song is absolutely sublime, beautiful and balmy.

  • brutal

  • PLEASURE.

  • Excellent presentation of Winslow Homer (+ Prendergast) paintings to accompany; better than the presentations i've found searching for Homer so far, which mainly show partial paintings. I like Madeleine Peyroux and am glad to hear this, but perhaps from familiarity i still prefer Frank Sinatra's version. Good work, anyway

  • probably Monet I think

  • Some are Winslow Homer and another American artist who I disremembner, but I'm pretty sure you're right about some of them being Monet. Thanks for the nudge. Jo

  • Paintings by Winslow Homer and Maurice Prendergast

  • Love this girl with her honey haunting voice...does anyone know the artist in the video??

  • i'm not sure about all of them, but many are winslow homer.

  • Thanks, you're right. I googled it. I can't remember the other artist, but they are both very expensive to buy in print!! So I'll just keep looking in charity shops and second hand stuff. Jo

  • Paintings by Winslow Homer and Maurice Prendergast as I typed in the video description. :)

  • I love this song it takes you to another time and Madeleine's voice is so invitingly sensuous What a talent

  • Hey don't give it a thumb down!! If you've listened to early Billy Holiday, before she got wasted, you'll hear the same sexy hum in her voice, like very dark chocolate!!

  • ВСЕ ПО КАИФУ

  • Hmmmm....She sounds an awful lot like Billy Holiday in this recording....

  • Madeleine's version of this song is absolutely sublime, beautiful and balmy. When she ends with "my fickle friend, the summer wind" the summer wind has just about become a character in the song. Wonderful, I usually play this like six times in a row. Nice too, the paintings rolling through...

  • out of all the people that sings this song, including frank sinatra.. i loved it most when charlie green sang it on britains got talent
