and a comfortable silence between her and me - she contributed to songs to the Hank Garland soundtrack - in case you have not found out yourself yet -
I first heard this during the credit role on the Simpsons. I just love the laid back and relaxed pace. Her voice is perfect. I could listen to her all night long.
I recently heard Madelaine Peyroux for the first time on Jazz FM in Toronto and was immediately a fan. This unique rendition of a classic song with her smooth vocal style is very relaxing, and a perfect accompaniment for the evocative Homer
paintings you have chosen here. Just wonderful! Thanks for posting!
She sounds so reminiscent of Billie Holiday......The Winslow Homer Paintings are a nice touch.......one of my favorite New England Artists. Andrew Wyeth would be a good choice for any other videos you might add.
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
I can't get this sax solo off my mind. I've been listening to jazz since 1966..and I have never heard anything so sublime. (Gary Foster?) (well, we know what cannonball could do...) I have isolated it to repeat, so I can learn it...on guitar..or piano. It's such a culmination of hard work finally turning into this conversational loveliness...Tom Waits sax player in the seventies (Frank Vicari) could also sound like he wasn't soloing, but simply expanding the song. A real master.
this lady is truly ..wonderful....have her CD's.....each time I hear this.....I want to listen more and more......so soft and unsual voice is magic ..and thanks for loading..!..love the paintings...
this lady is truly ..wonderful....have her CD's.....each time I hear this.....I want to listen more and more......so soft and unsual voice is magic ..and thanks for loading..!
Her voice just grows on you...reminds me of a spring evening in my native New Orleans with the air thick with the scent of night blooming jasmine, a tall cool glass, smooth jazz in the background and a comfortable silence between me and her. A man can dream, can't he? :-) Thanks for the post tangled!
I should have known!!! Lakeview boy here (from when Lakeview was a middle class subdivision). I swear this reminds me of strolling through the gardens in City Park and the Jasmine plant in my back yard.
Saw her at the Blue Note back in April when she came to NYC, she was simply divine. Sounded incredibly like Billie Holiday, save without that pitiful and sorrowful twist to her voice - but then again, Billie was a blues singer for a reason.
She has such a wondrous sound to her vocals, they're slightly raspy but she manages to keep that in check. Her voice carries and flows with the music, and it accompanies her pianist - Michael Kannan - VERY well because it sings just as Michael's chords play.
Bellissimo ..ed è dir poco . Un video che mi ha rasserenato , e dio sa se neho bisogno ! Grazie chiunque tu sia grazie infinite . Un bacio tenero a chi me lo ha inviato .
Frank Sinatra knows how to sing this song. This woman does know also. She has rhythm, soul, inflection, phrasing, melody and energy. Other than that I'd say you don't know what jazz is about.
Heard Martin on the Simpsons sing the first line, when everyone leaves his swimming pool and Nelson steals his shorts! haha love this song, im straight on iTunes!
Excellent presentation of Winslow Homer (+ Prendergast) paintings to accompany; better than the presentations i've found searching for Homer so far, which mainly show partial paintings. I like Madeleine Peyroux and am glad to hear this, but perhaps from familiarity i still prefer Frank Sinatra's version. Good work, anyway

Madeleine's version of this song is absolutely sublime, beautiful and balmy. When she ends with "my fickle friend, the summer wind" the summer wind has just about become a character in the song. Wonderful, I usually play this like six times in a row. Nice too, the paintings rolling through...

Frank Sinatra knows how to sing this song. This woman does know also. She has rhythm, soul, inflection, phrasing, melody and energy. Other than that I'd say you don't know what jazz is about.
b2n3s7 2 years ago 5
I agree. She sings it 'cool'
easy, breathless, like she's not workin'
Isn't that what summer wind feels like on your face
soft and cool - it feels good
just like her voice

Frank Sinatra knows how to sing this song. This woman doesn't.
She lacks rhythm, soul, inflection, phrasing, melody and energy.
Other than that, I'[d say her performance is sub-mediocre.
