All babies do this. A crib is only meant up until 1 year and then a bed. A good side so that they don't roll out at night- REALLY well screwed into the base, under the mattress, and then they get out of the foot end in the mornings. Babies are little monkeys, and amazing how they can bend and climb-I hope yours didn't fall!
According to my mother, I did the same thing as an infant. If I couldn't get out of the crib, I took the whole thing with me by rocking back and forth. Bet she wishes they had video cameras back then.
It's SO hard to keep them safe. My daughter did this at a young age too. We got her a 'baby bed', so she could get out without endangering herself. She THEN taught herself how to shimmy up the door sill, open the safety lock, drop down a bit, turn the doorknob, and then she was 'off to the races'. She would pull off her jammies AND diaper, then take off. This would happen about 5 AM. We lived in an apartment complex, she would go knock at her baby sitter's door, wanting to swim! Crazy!
One time we were at my moms friends house and my little brother (2 at the time) was on the top bunk of my moms friends daughter and my mom and I were on the main floor and we heard a thump and so we run up the stairs and find him sitting on the floor crossed legged and saying " I jumped off the top bunk and fell on my bum" he wasn't even crying!!!!
When I was about this age my dad thought it would be cool to teach me how to do this. I ended up coming every night into my parents bedroom. Of course my mother cursed my dad. xD
i did everything i could 2 get out of mine i climb, un zipper the climb proof thingthat went over mine crib, bust down the gate at the door lol good times :) :) :)
swear, kids are born with the Houdini gene! I remember when my oldest first got out of her crib (well, first we knew of her ability to get out) one morning I'm sleepingly and hear "hi mommy" half asleep I just automatically responded with a "Hi baby girl" a second later the information caught up with my brain and my eyes flew open, and there she was with her in the doorway. lol Looking all proud of herself. Had to make a trip to the store for a child bed that

I remember when my oldest first got out of her crib (well, first we knew of her ability to get out) one morning I'm sleeping soundly and hear "hi mommy" half asleep I just automatically responded with a "Hi baby girl" a second later the information caught up with my brain and my eyes flew open, and there she was with her tiny self standing in the doorway. lol Looking all proud of herself. Had to make a trip to the store for a child bed that day lol
@firestarterri - cute story that was what happened to me..I just wanted to know how she did it and when I realized she wasn't swinging from the drapes or I couldn't move some other furniture, I had to get her a new bed...well I moved her into our bed for awhile..I was horrified of the thought of her injuring herself.
@gld2bmommie Yes, though I admired her ingenuity at such a young age, it also gave me a small heart attack at the idea of her having been in a position to fall. Kids are so amazing, people get so caught up in how cute babies are, that they forget sometimes that their little minds are moving a mile a minute like super computers learning and translating and ultimately acting upon a massive amount of data. That you were curious how your child managed her feat is normal, those
@gld2bmommie those who may attempt to leave nasty comments are being silly and ignoring the fact that you are standing at the ready should she have started to fall. Thank you for sharing a cute moment with us :)
haha! when i was a baby my mom told me i used to do this ALL the time then when my brother was born 2 years after me i taught him and wed run around! your baby is ADORABLE =]
Hey guys the baby wasn't hurt and now time for todddler bed
do like how she was putting her leg over then she ull herself up and discover she could escape from her crib and she did and did anyone hear the happy giggle little baby made when she was free ?
Apparently, I was doing this too back in 1968. Mom and pop heard a thump, and I walked out into the living room like "Ta Da!" My mom finally dropped the side of the crib down and I had no idea how to get out. XD
probably millions of babies today climb out of their cribs no need to panic you freaks why dont you worry about your own lives instead of negative about this babys life!
Oh my god! Now I know how my little sister did it all those years ago! It scared the crap out of my parents when she crawled into their room in the middle of the night... craziness!
I don't see why people are hating on this video, If she didn't sleep in the crib again then she obviously loves and cares about her baby a lot. She's adorable, And it's quite a shame because that is one beautiful crib! x
It may sound like a good idea, but I woudln' give into it. Once your smarty-pants learns that he can climb over the side, and now he is got much higher, he will do the same, yet now its a much higher chances fall and a chance of injury. They can realize that a toy, blanket, pillow can serve as a step to get higher. Please, do not be creative with the children. And instead of buying a bed right away, remove the old one and put matress on the floor
Please don't post nasty comments about this video. I love my baby with all my heart and I could not believe my eyes and wanted to know how she did this. I caught her when she climbed over and after this video, she did not sleep in that crib again.
@gld2bmommie My mom says that I climbed out of my crib at around around that time as well (I was running after other kids before I hit a year). The story goes that she was downstairs washing dishes when she heard a loud thump, she ran up stairs and found me on the floor. She couldn't believe I had climbed out by myself as well. She says I'd spend the whole day doing squats while holding on to the crib well before I could even walk (might explain my strong legs)
@gld2bmommie If I were u I would not care what a few idiots hv to say because the very ppl tht hv something 2 say hv probably done a lot worse to a kid. Its just easy for them to criticise you while they hide behind the internet. It is obvious to any person of reason that you LOVE your baby a lot, and what a lovely baby she is.
@tricksta555HD its amazing they don't drop dead banging their head onto the floor, okay, in this vid the people that recorded things actually catch the baby, but i saw on other vids, they couldn't care less and still find it funny ...

I remember thinking about doing this as a baby but I didn't. I think it shows the kid is a bit brave and determined.

Just an idea to future parents, when my little cousin tried this, his mom flipped his crib around, so that the higher side was in the front.
