  • my mother told me her sisters husband was friends with johnny cash

  • how can ANYONE dislike this? Even if you don't like Johnny Cash (which is already absurd), you can't say this is not great music.

  • There's more talent in one of Johnny Cash's nut hairs than in all of today's top 40 artists combined.

  • @ironsausage66 you dont say!

  • To the 4 dislike people: You don't know who I am but I know where you live and if you dislike this one more time so help me I will... Thumbs up if you know what show that's from.

  • 4 people who dislike this video, have never felt the blues

  • Wish we could have this amazing man back instead of the terrible "artists" now a days.

Forever missed and loved , there will never be someone like Johnny Cash.

  • Is this the coolest dude of all time? Yep.

  • @jimw350 I disagree. Cash sings it in a very no-nonsense way, not v emotional, just the way it is. I also think you shouldn't judge Johnny Cash based on a single performance at the beginning of his career. He greatly expanded his range later.

  • i fucking love this song

  • Johnny Cash Enough said i can't say anything about him that haven't been said a 1,000,000 times over.

  • absolutely love johnny cash its a shame we will never have a artist as good as him again but atleast he lives on forever through his music

  • wow....great song...a timeless classic

  • This guy had it!

  • Cash was THE MAN! Never gonna be another one, not even close!

  • new youtube account and i had to give my 1st comment to johnny and one of my top 5 cash songs :)

  • has got to be one of my favorite songs. so blue its cold.

  • omg he is the yummiest and the most talented ugh i love him<333333

  • So much cooler than Heartbreak Hotel.

  • it is real music

it's sad that today all is done with computer

  • @MrJuanhok No it isn't.

  • There are plenty of artists using traditional techniques. Too many people are just programmed robots who do what the industry tells them to.

  • I was a freshman in high school when this sog hit the charts. Always liked it but don't think it really ever got enough play time.

  • i'm coming jhonny!!!!!! :(

  • @IKurtC you in a bad way? if so God speed to you man!!!

  • @TheFarmerfitz thanks my friend

  • I don't give a f*uck what anyone says....JOHNNY CASH IS THE BEST!

  • @Pac3steel no one disagrees

  • 4 ppl went to the Home of the Reds.

  • Johnny was 24 or 25 years old here. We were all young once. :)

  • Eight years ago today. We miss you Johnny.

  • This appearance by Johnny Cash was on the "Country Style USA" TV show. It was a syndicated program produced in New York, and sponsored by the US Army. It was previously a syndicated radio show in the late 1940s that made the transition to television.

  • Johnny is the man and my biggest inspiration! This is one of my favs from the 1950s

  • Johnny BRAT MOJ!

  • the back up guitarist has no swag

  • @lxsosna Your saying One Of The Greatest Guitar Pickers of ALL TIME 'Has No Swagger' - His 'Swagger' is in His Playing, Absolute Magic....RIP Luther Perkins, The Quiet Man.

  • @lxsosna go youtube some lil wayne or some bullshit like that if you are looking for your "swag"

  • @lxsosna he aint pete townsend. he has his own style and sound. he doesnt need swag

  • @lxsosna First of all he WAS NOT the "back-up guitartist". He was the lead and after his passing, great guitarists, such as Bob Wootton, Carl Perkins, even Marty STuart copied his style!

  • @boobybella Who is ixsosna talking about?

  • @meynard1 Luther Perkins(the back-up guitarist that you mentioned) was the lead guitarist when Johnny cash and the Tennessee two and eventually the Tennessee three were in the height of their popularity. Luther was with Cash until he died, tragically, in a home fire.

  • they did a good casting job, the actors look the same as these guys

  • ITS JUST SO BLUE HERE!!!!

  • Великолепно,просто супер!Отличное исполнение!Просто смотришь и наслаждаешься!

  • Is it just me, or was Johnny Cash hot?!?!

I miss me some Johnny Cash RIP 2003

  • Why somebody laugh in 0:16?

  • @JohnnyCash1Fan1

Luther facial expression, just right after the solo they laugh again

  • @JohnnyCash1Fan1 It's part of his charm!

  • @regulators88 i'm not talkin' 'bout johnny, i'm talkin 'bout somebody in the public

  • @JohnnyCash1Fan1 Sorry, I thought that you were referring to Johnny!

  • I love that gritty sound the chords make, and that progression there for the chorus!

Wow...does anyone know if this song was released on an album?

  • @Tevleon Johnny Cash Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous

  • great intro its like a song for childrens

  • That intro is legendary

  • Yeah that intro was such a junior college talent show intro hahaha

  • i cant get enough of this song it suits me down to the ground, cash your the man!

  • This is the definition of music...

This was when it was real!

  • There are four people who I truly feel for. It dazzles me that anyone could miss the beauty of this song.

  • Purely a MASTERPIECE!

  • look at hte eyes of the lead guitarist (Marshall??)..they are saying"oh my god..it's right?"...i love johnny and his band...i love them,'cuase they are so genuine and true.Thank you johnny, thank you guys

  • @Lorenzo84no lead guitarist is luther perkins. marshall is bass.

  • My personality on stage is quite much like Luthers. I'm frightened of performing too. It's quite hard to do it while weeping, but i always manage to do everything like supposed to do. God bless Luther. :)

  • THE BEST

  • LUTHER IS GREAT ... Oh, btw Happy Birthday, Luther! ;-)

  • It's like Johnny showed the electric guitar player his part thirty seconds before the take.

  • this song make me cry dont know why

  • "so if you just lost your sweet heart" ... great song Mr. Cash

  • This was the first "blues" song I learned how to play and sing. I was 14 years old. It would take another 10 years and a wife walking out the door before I learned what this song really ment.

  • thank you, very much

  • thank you John

  • johnny cash is music he dosnt sing he hyms each song of his makes some one cry because he puts the feeling inside your heart !!

  • johnny cash is the shit best country singer of all time

  • this is one of my top 5 favorite cash songs i love it man! cash is king!

  • Marshall Grant, the bass player, gets absolutely NO love in this video. Everything else though is GREAT, even the mistakes!

  • lol i love how fake the farm background looks... wonder if anyone bought that they were playing in a corn field back in 57' lol.... my fav johnny cash song of all time tho.... gooooooood shit

  • Man, I love the tone of Luther's guitar.

  • I learned to play guitar from Luther Perkins and Cash......I love the way Cash simply strums the bass notes with his thumb....it came so naturally to me.

  • i wish that when people around the world thought of america, they thought of stuffl ike this. Not of a bunch of stupid, fat ignorant rednecks which we arent.

  • @RememberSoCal i agree with ya on that one!

  • @RememberSoCal I always think about the US through a music perspective... and that's the home of great music... call it country, rap, dance, house... all great music is represented in the states. respect

  • Wow he's young!!

  • great american song when USA was a not shit and not a meltining pot of shit michael a 25 year old iraq vet thank you johnny

  • @hurley242584 even then, the USA was a melting pot of shit. they were just about to do exactly the same thing in vietnam when this was recorded. much respect to you.

  • man i love johnny :,(

    R.I.P

  • Anytime I'm down on my luck, I blast this song on the set.

  • lamest guitar intro ever! still love this song lol!

  • @thatssogay88 Get out of here. Don't disrespect luther's guitar playing.

  • As I listen repeatedly to this song it brings me to tears, and I love it! True music from a true American legend. You're the man Johnny.

  • luther face :) jajaja

  • @claruchia when you wrote "luther face" did you referr to his stage fear, which is funny xD or did you referr to the Texas chainsaw massacre movie, where the villain is called "Leather face".. "Luther face, Leather face" haha or did I come up with that myself? :P

  • serious dude

  • Interesting info about the pickguard. I never heard of that but the theory makes sense. Great Cash song--one of his best. Luther was in rare form also

  • a pick gaurd

  • many thanks for the post

  • its the pic guard, when you use a pic sometimes it can hit the guitar and it protects the finish from scratches. they come in all shapes colors and designs, just about every guitar has one, most of them are white nowadays

  • Johnny Cash invented the poof

  • @TheReckonman

that is his pick guard. a lot of guiatr players used to prefer the larger pick guards in the older days, there was a theory that it deepened the tone of the guitar by reducing vibration of the top. that train of thought is long gone now. if you truly want to see a HUGE pickguard. look up flatt and scruggs version of Jimmy brown the paper boy.

  • wow! I didn't know that! thanks for the info!

  • Mr. CASH we will always remeber you thanks for those damn good songs

  • DAMN Johnny is the GREATEST!!! Long live CASH forEVER!

  • that guitar player looks a hell of a lot like one of the guys from mr. show!

  • That guitar player was Luther Perkins, Johnny's long-time guitarist until he burned to death one night. He's buried with Cash, June Carter Cash, and the Carter Family in the same cemetery in Hendersonville, Tennessee. For a country guitarist, pretty good company.

  • dont forget merle kilgore

  • LEGEND

  • The greatest American bard.

  • excellent song

  • this is music history, folks

  • Great stuff thanks for uploading this:)

  • Good song!! Thanks for posting

  • WOW its awesome

Johnny Cash is the man who split

    the music in something awesome

rather than keeping it too folkish

This is coming form a man who loves

metal, punk, grunge, and classic rock.

  • Wow.. thats song old footage

  • Such a great song... call it country, call it blues, whatever. This music is priceless

  • oh and w s holland..: )

  • LUTHER PERKINS AND MARSHALL AND JOHNNY"S STYLE OF PICKING MADE THE GREAT TENNESSE 3.. Awesome

  • ovaj nub chupo nezna ni pisat omfgggggggg xddd

  • awsome..... CAHS LEGEND

  • thx for uploading this version with video and all very nice

  • the guy with the e-guitar is funny

    great song!

  • .......thats the one and only Luther Perkins.

  • Funny to look at, I guess. ;)

I don't know how Luther Perkins was IRL, but in Walk The Line he was a guy with a deadpan face who rarely said a word, at all. Until they are in that hotel elevator, together with those cops, and he asks: "Say, officer, how did you get your shirt sostiff?"

  • I LOVE DIS SONG

  • yea the early stuff is great!

  • No violins, no background singers, just Johnny's voice and a good melody. Thanks for posting this.

  • Lovely echosonic amp sound.

  • I miss Johnny and Luther!

    R.I.P

PS: This song goes with A, B7, E Chords

  • and F #

  • Yep.

  • Funny how just playing a scale sounds cool. Less was more with Luther Perkins.

  • why was luther looking soo nervous looking to the side all the time, he was sounding great, lol

  • There are many theories. Some say he's actually scared, some say he's doing it as an act.

  • ohh dont give conspiracy theorys , it looks like at the beginning he is just playing about with johnny coz johnny smiles and then he smiles, but the middle looks like he is a bit nervous ...lol

  • he might just be paranoid too, cause this was juring the time they did amphetamines or how ever you spell it

  • thanks so much for posting this..i was born in 57 and grew up with all his hits ..i know every song by heart from my fathers collections...god rest him and john

  • tweeker

  • Original Johnny tunes are so freakin' good! I like his later stuff but he had such a raw sound in his early days.

  • I like his early stuff the best. Nobody can beat the Sun Record sound of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis or Roy Orbison.

  • Luther Perkins is funny :D

  • staraja i dobraja amerika! kak ja ljublju wsö eto!

  • Thanks for posting! Johnny and Luther never be anyone else like them.

  • Superbe video du GRAND JOHNNY CASH à l'époque Sun records.
