i thought it was good. pure skill. im not sure about some of you but usually in a shoot out(especially in national game) you dont want to miss a PK. im sure he was most confident to take it in this way. Western country usually values power vs power but Japanese choose skill and thinking faster than the opponent. they literary call it the "tenderness". After all, it was a good shot that is hard for most of us to do.

Endo is known as one of the best PK kickers in Japan. (Among the roster, Abe is also known as a good PK kicker, but it seems that those who experienced the loss in Germany went first this time; Takahara, Endo, Komano, Nakamura, and Nakazawa were all in the squad of the world cup.) Endo kicks PKs for his J. League team, and this is how he always kicks. But he only missed twice (by the same goalie) in his entire professional career even though other J. League GKs know how Endo kicks.

Why do you think so? You have to learn what is PK.I think you never play soccer,so you couldn't understand what a high level kick that was. Endo did use his great skill that he decided the direction of his kick after confirming GK moved.Only few players can do that.

First of all, it's football, not soccer. Secondly, I think it was a crap PK b/c Endo didn't put anything behind that kick. just a sly and sneeky way to trick the GK. I mean, yeah, a goal is a goal... but I don't think this PK deserves all the hipe everyone has given it. A real footballer boots the ball (not taps it like a pussy) in the opposite direction the GK dives, completely reading the GK and quickly manuvering to strike the ball into the back of the net.

I know it's hard to tell, but when Endo takes the PK he does NOT look at the ball; he stares at the GK and decides at the last split second which direction to kick. As you saw in the video Schwarzar was frozen and Endo's PK is the only time he didn't move, because he got caught off-guard completely.

for someone who plays soccer you have no idea about it. this penalty kick only the confident ones can take shots such as this. the aussie keeper is one of the best EPL gks. endo never looks at the ball during penalties, instead he concentrates on the keeper. you can see in the video the gk just about to dive to his left when endo changed his direction. he caught the keeper 'off balance' as admitted by the gk himself. endo is probably one of the best pk takers.

@jaychou1 I think this is a confident penalty, but I dont think it is groundbreaking or unique, there are other "confident" ones, Scholes ones set a penalty in one of the top corners.

The only nerve wrecking penalty is the Panenka one. I have seen Pirlo do a Panenka in a final on extra time and also seen Smoking Bianco nail more penalties than there are balls in a net bag.

Schwarzer? Abbiati, Rossi and Cudicini are worldclass.
