  • Oh well. There goes the media again trying to cram sympathy down the public's throat. Let's see...they didn't leave, and the mayor didn't know what to do. Also they forgot about Hurricane Camille back in 69. Look up Camille crybabies. 200 MPH and 30 foot storm surge.

  • Katrina

  • You're crazy if you don't think this could happen to any city in the US

  • soooo sad

  • Hey! I'm an English teacher in France and I would like to tackle the theme of Hurricane Katrina with my students. Is there any way you could send me this video? This would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

  • I wish I could have looted at walmart..LOL

  • Whites still have a LOT to answer for by what they did to blacks in Katrina. They herded thousands of helpless Black men, women, and children into hell holes and purposely denyed them FOOD and Water.

    THAT is premeditated Genocide.

You Devils let poor black folk ROT and STARVE for 7 days without Food, Water, Shelter, and medical help.

I only hope OBAMA Rapes you Devils a new one in taxes. It is time the wealth and resources are given to the people who need it!

  • @lamardarren Right-- there were NO Whites who were affected by this?? Are you kidding me? Hurricanes do NOT care about color or anything else. Yes, there happened to be more Blacks living in the worst-affected areas, but it would not matter WHO lived there; it killed indiscrimitely..... In the so-called, "white" towns all along the coast, this HELL happened. If you were close to there, YOU were affected, Even WE had people here from N.O.,

    WHY make this about RACE?

  • @lamardarren u sound stupd..im from new orleans that fuckin storm aint care what color u were..most of the nopd is black and they were fuckin over ppl left and right white and black..knock it off

  • they should have left chuck Norris in charge of the whole operation

  • This looks like it was recoreded in 1996.

  • Cool an AFN(American Forces Network) feed of a simulcast of NBC. I assume they use a direct feed from NBC themselves & not a feed of an NBC affiliate

  • I saw Mississippi after the storm and omg it was bad!!

  • I miss these opens and I miss Howard Reig.

    RIP

  • I miss him too

  • television children fed. Unborn living, living dead. (give them dirty laundry) well time has come today. There are things we realize. and we are busy being born, no longer busy dying

  • isnt WAPT an ABC affiliate?

  • So wat next???

  • This newscast came shortly after Howard Reig (the venerable announcer) retired from GE/NBC after 43 years of service, but NBC has him on retainer to come in and do unusual announcements, like this one for Hurricane Katrina. Since retirement, he goes into the Miami NBC affiliate to do special announcements (rather than live in NYC). Btw, the announcer who you can still hear at the beginning of NBC Weekend News with John Siegenthaler has been dead for four years (the late, great Fred Facey).
