  • How are you able to even be there with a video camera or whatever it is that you are using, here in new york we can not use any type of camera or cell phones even at any scene

  • @lilbill8806 I don't agree with the NY laws and think eventually those will be overturned. There is nothing like that here and I hope never will be. Being a member of the press/media for over 20 does have it's advantages, but anyone has the right to film from a public right of way.

  • 00:23 Simons move that gurney. 00:38 Dammit Simons get that outta here. 00:46 Simons I swear if you don't move that... "Okay Okay ill come help lift. LMAO

  • You should move your pump back into the warm zone and outa the hot zone

  • He was strapped over the shoulder with an "X" across the chest, one strap across his waist, and one by his feet. Then there are cot straps across him also. The video was edited or stopped a couple times that is why you don't see them doing it. LOL, the "new guy" you refer to that is holding the cot may have been fairly new, hard to tell cause he didn't turn around. It is funny she keeps moving it and pushing it away. They did a good job though.

  • If you notice, the pt was strapped down to the backboard after he was put on the cot. Why the head wasn't immobilized,I can't say. If you notice, all of our folks working around the car did have coats on. The gal without the coat on only got close to help lift the pt up. She may have been the driver of the medic unit, who supports the medic and doesn't get involved in the extrication.

  • @Quad4Fun1 you dont immobilize the head until the patient is strapped down on the back board caz if they roll when not strapped it will break there neck

  • great video..wow it is steady! tripod or you got one steady arm? 10 stars

  • Thank you. Did a little of both.

  • I think they did a pretty damn good job. There are little things we forget about like laying tools on the ground where they'll be in the way later but even i'm guilty of that! The only thing i saw wrong was the dude with out his coat on should have been wearing it. It's just a good habit to get into. I tell the guys all the time, "Full PPE at all times unless your in the rig or in FF rehab." Other than that, nicely done! Keep up the good work and ALWAYS buckel up!

  • In my opinion this is a "typical very difficult" extrication...well done guys! Only a thing: I'm an italian nurse (here paramedics don't exist :* ) and I'm interested in your techinques,I'm referring to head-immobilization on backboard: why you haven't used headlock cushions? Thanks a lot!

  • is it just me or did the guy who is holding the stretcher @ the beginning look like a new guy, he can seem to get it out of there way, the firefighters keep having to push it out of there way lol, nice save guys

  • anybody here work at central peirce fire and rescue?

  • Im a firefighter paramedic in washington state. I think these guys (& gals) did a great job, but it's easy to sit back and be critical on a keyboard, isn't it? Don't hate on fire medics. We're all in this for the same reasons and should support each other. Every rescue, fire and extrication is different. Those who are making negative comments and call themselves firefighters and/or EMT's should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Did either victim die? Looked like a pretty intense impact.

  • No. They survived.

  • Great! thanks.

  • Exactly, and what about C-Spine immobilization? Yes it's hard to do extricating him but put it on ASAP. Kinds why a few counties are moving to EMS and Fire in one house. IE: Howard County.

  • In my case, had they taken the extra time to strap me down I wouldn't have survived, as for not in full turnouts, or not following procedure to CYA I couldn't care less, I'm sure they broke lots of procedure to rush me to the hospital and crack my chest, if they hadn't I wouldn't be alive. Stop worrying about the bureaucratic BS and worry about rather the job is done or not

  • And when have you ever seen them do it, when they have less than 1 foot to get to the stretcher?

  • does it really matter, take the 3 minutes it takes to strap them in. What happens if the patient slides off or his C-spine is compromised because he isn't secure to the backboard. It's called C-Y-A.

  • they didn't even strap him to the backboard. Thats why the Fire Department shouldn't do EMS.

  • I completely agree with you. Also, the guys who weren't in full turnout gear are an embarrassment to the fire service.

  • the guys without full turnout gear were nowhere near the extrication. thus making the ppe uneccesary

  • You sound like a bunch of too much time on your hands volunteers. Get a job and let them do theirs.

  • Hey news flash!!! Unless youve been asleep for the last 10 years...EMS is the future of the fire department...even I hate to say it but it can be seen all across the country.

  • theres different kinds. ALS, BLS, etc.

  • What year did this happen ?

    What time and day ?

  • May 21, 2006 at about 4:30pm

  • wow, that's some serious video with the guy getting extracted. good shots!
