@91128man actually Tommy Lee Jones was supposed to be more like from the comics, it takes a lot of skill to play a super villian him and Carrey pulled it off perfectly
@litojonny That's because they weren't shitty at the time. At the time, they were doing the best they could with the technology they had. This movie was one of the worse batman flicks, but still.... Jim Carrey is in it. Old movie, new movie, Jim Carrey almost always delivers.
LOL.....anyone notice the statue behind Tommy Lee Jones looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Thats what led him (Arnie) to play Mr. Freeze.
BTW: It has been reported that personality clashes between Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey during filming annoyed director Joel Schumacher to the extent that he stated he would never again work with either of them, however he later worked with Carrey on The Number 23....
ROFL.....c'mon,Jones & Carrey had GOOD chemistry between the both of them.
Why do the villains ALWAYS attack at the parties in Batman Series? Check it out. Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Batman Begin, The Dark Night
@philsbirds5125 They wanted to tone the movies down for the kids, because the first two Batman movies turned out much darker than the producers expected. They wanted the third and fourth movies to be funnier and commercially safer, much like the Batman series from the 1960's.
Compared to the next movie, actually, this one wasn't that bad.
And Tommy Lee Jones could have rocked this role, but the writing was jacked up and he did what was prepared for him. But if he could have been in the DARK KNIGHT, he would have played that role to the hilt, no doubt. He's an awesome actor, legendary. It's a shame, Tim Burton's movies were good, but the 90's could have taken the movies to another level, but it didn't, and now we'll never get to see the best actors at their best in the greatest franchise. oh well, thank u Nolan for 3 good movies.
trust me he could go just as dark as he is comedy and that would be scary if u think about it. He would probably be to dark and be scary as hell with a little humor underneath. I bet he could get the Mark Hamill laugh down to the science too. Jim Carrey in the dark knight rises would have been EPIC, his presence would have drowned out everyone else. But we'll never get to see it. ever. UNLESS THERE IS SOME MASSIVE SURPRISES AHEAD, WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JULY 20, 2012.
I am Batman, The Riddler and Two Face all in one. I am THE ONE POINT FIVE, FARMER BILL and GOD's / Grand Galactics' secrete weapon called "Silent Thunder." ["The Last Theorem" Co-Imagined by Sir, Arthur C. Clarke and Frederic Pohl]
I HATE that Tim Burton didn't finish the series, and that they didn't let Tommy Lee Jones really act (brilliant actor) as the real Two Face, b/c he would have blown that performance out of the water. If you think about it, they had the perfect set of actors for this movie, it was that the director and the script was wrong, plus movies back in the 90's didn't always go to completely dark and gritty especially with comic book movies. If u really think about it these movies could have been good.
I think this is the most entertaining Batman movie. Just because it's cartoonish doesn't mean it's bad. After all, every Batman work has different styles.
Nolan's movies are too serious, Burton's movies are too dark, Batman: TAS is both dark and funny, 60's Batman is hilariously stupid, and this movie is cartoonish. I like all Batman works no mather how different they are. So I really like this movie. But my favorite one is always Batman Returns.
@nayruto Well, in my opinion seeing as I'm Batman obsessed he was a horrible Riddler. Edward Nygma is a very poised proper man. Intelligent and demanding respect, Jim Carrey didn't do so good. Then again this movie was horrible, because two face doesn't do good and bad everything. He flips his coin to decide whether to be good or bad in certain situations.
@Originalimperfection I agree. To me he seems more fitted to the role of the Joker... Although, I'm not sure if he can pull off the dark part of the character.
Apart from the Riddler's increasingly camp outfits, I like this film! In the same way I like the Adam West Batman series - people call it bad because they've been trying to take it seriously! (Insert 'why so serious' joke here...)
I love that scene with Tommy Lee Jones. Even though the movie was silly, and not as dark as Christopher Nolan's versions, it was really entertaining! The overacting in it just added to it. I kind of got bored with Nolan's dark versions.
@angemala To each their own but really the nolan films are superior in terms of writing, substance and execution. None of which this movie delivers on. I think this movie suffers the same main problem as with batman and robin too. Which is that both films try to do something serious in very silly campy films. In this film it's robin losing his parents and wants revenge against two face and with batman and robin it's alfred's illness. That and sillyness doesn't work together and it's just a mess.
@mummra4ever I'll agree with you that Nolan's films were quite well-written. I loved the Dark Knight. The characters were more hardcore and psychotic. So if you've got a psychotic villain, you need an equally forceful protagonist. I think I enjoy comedy and oddball humour more than I do serious drama - just personal preference. Although, if you want camp, let's not mention the Adam West version! LOL
@angemala I actually enjoy the adam west version as well as nolan's films. That more than this film seems to know what it wants to be. The adam west version was really more of a parody of batman than being a serious show. Because the comics at the time were just as silly as that version so the show was kind of making fun of that. So I don't take it seriously because it doesn't seem to be asking me to do that. Unlike with parts of these joel schumacher films.
I love Carrey as the Riddler. I always feel like Schumacher knows how to get the best out of his actors. I cant wait for his new thriller "Trespass" to come out! youtube.com/watch?v=1rolBdc_mjs
I love how he finds the answer to the riddle just to lose it
I love Jim Carey as the Riddler though, when i first saw this movie when i was like 7 or somthing I thought he was really like that in real life now i no better but Great Job Jim

Riddle Me This.... ~~~ When you want me, you cant have me. When you have me, you dount need me. When you need me, you cant get me. When you get me, you dount want me. I am what you tell a friend. I am a lie. I am a truth. I am kept in a hush. I am not a person that has a blush. You see with your ears. They say it with there mouths. You are told not to tell. They know that you will crack. ...what....am...i.... ^_^? .
@mybestfreindplank ah fuck ! I cannot believe it ! Now i saw in wiki ! But that guy give perfect voice of Jim Carrey , and if you compare with his joke in Arkham Asylum ( compare Ace Ventura with game , you'll see point ) its all perfect ! That guy doing perfect job ! :D
I think Jim Carry would fit the next Joker. I mean think about it. He can look just like Mark Hamill's Joker because of his face, he can play a comedian role and a serious role with a good side of creepy, he has the laugh down for Mark Hamill's Joker, and in the next batman, he could get his haircut by harley quinn after they meet, and then he'll look more like the famous Mark Hamill's joker. It's a dream come true for me!
Am I the only one who thinks Carrey was just too much like Joker, just with a different name? Also, has anyone noticed that almost everyone of the old Batman films had some sort of hot babe in stockings/leggings parading around?
@Danthepest1 Yeah. I think it's really just Jim Carry's acting and typecasting seeping through. It'd be hard to take Jim Carry seriously so they designed the Riddler to be more humorous. He, as Naman says, definitely has more of a sense of humor than Nicholson's Joker, which I still like though not as much as Heath's. Funny as it is, though, I think the Riddler's true personality in the comic books is a lot more serious and not really goofy at all.
@Danthepest1 These movie's have the Tim Burton edge that quite honestly, although they're good in my opinion, disregard the true nature of the characters. Batman outright does things in these movies that KILL the henchman, which is something his character should never do. He bombs soldiers to death in Joker's Axis Factory, and walks off while letting a henchman with a bomb explode in the second movie. The penguin was never supposed to be a monster, but was actually very refined and dignified.
@Zellig You seem to forget that Batman used to kill in the comics as well. As for Penguin being a monster in the film, Burton was trying something different, kinda like how Nolan took a different approach to the Joker, Scarecrow, Bane etc.
i personally prefer these older films (with the exception of batman and robin..) to the newer nolan ones. while i do enjoy batman begins and dark knight, nolan's batman films seem to take the franchise more seriously as opposed to the older ones.. batman forever was so cartoony, cheesy, comedic and that had a strange appeal to me. the original with jack nicholson as well as the one with devito as the penguin are classics. dark knight is the best of nolan's batman and that one doesn't surpass ^
You're missing out on three good solid films (BATMAN, RETURNS, & FOREVER) and one so bad its funny film (the notorious BATMAN & ROBIN). You can skip BATMAN & ROBIN, but I'd highly recommend the first three. While I love Nolan's films (and can admit they are better) the originals take advantage of being COMIC BOOK films unlike Nolan's realistic approach (which is great, but I like both takes)
Out of all the batman movie villians, jim carrey/The riddler is still my favorite villian. No offence to heath leder fans but,to me, he was too serious to be the joker. He looked cool but not "psychotic" enouff to be the joker
If there is no Jim carrey acting the riddler, everybody would have forget this shit for a long time

I think he did an awesome job as the riddler

Am I the only one who thinks Carrey was just too much like Joker, just with a different name? Also, has anyone noticed that almost everyone of the old Batman films had some sort of hot babe in stockings/leggings parading around?
Danthepest1 7 months ago
@Danthepest1 Actually, he felt more like the Joker than Nicholson did. And you know what? I was fine with it.

@Zellig I think they were going for the 60's Riddler for Jim. They had the body suit and everything.

@Jort007
