  • A new cover of this by Bluebird Parade (bluebirdparade.co.uk) is just about to be released onto the new charity album full of Specials covers. Check it out at the specializedcharityalbum.co.uk

  • SHE SAID SHE WORKED AT A CHICKEN FACTORY!

  • One of these days, unity will be the only option. Today, it is the last option.

  • I luv `dis

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • This song always reminds me of The Damned

  • Does anybody else find it impossible to keep your feet still listening to this:)

  • such a tune

  • i don't think "guns of navarone" is on my vinyl copy of "The Specials"......? that must be the UK version in the picture or something.

  • @JohnnyLovely2 i know thats not the UK version, it had the same songs as our US version. its some sort of compilation i bet. in the back of Willo's book he has all of the records ever released on 2 Tone. i bet thats listed there, unless Chrysalis released it

  • OMG was dancing to that vinyl last night!

  • i thought the lyrics to this song was "this is a drawing of a new area" to my surprise..it wasnt..and i have never lived it down..31 years later!!! :o

  • Of course it's a cocktail of punk and ska. They are after all musical cousins. Rebel music, folks.

  • Any one know where i can get the original "Specials" book, issued around 1982ish that was writyen by a fan and illistrated in cartoon form?

    The Brit....x

  • how good is this

  • reminds me of the young ones theme tune :P

  • ha ha me too, i love that show

  • thats a kool tune!!

    love it!!

  • Punk meets Ska superb!!

  • nope ska,ed all the way!!!

  • just ska fuck punk

  • Um, actually, it is a well known fact that The Specials mixed punk with ska. Watch or read anything on the history of 2Tone. It's mentioned repeatedly. They dug Terry Hall out of a punk band called Squad, for crying out loud. It was never "just ska" with The Specials. It was punk, ska, reggae, Jamaican blues, muzak, African drumming, etc. And this song is definitely a fusion of punk and ska.

  • @moonshiny74 totally. also, Terry and Roddy were both in punk bands before the specials. Terry's band was called the Squad. not sure about Roddy's

  • @dkgdbr I'm not too sure about Roddy's either. The first thing that springs to mind when it comes to him is the rockabilly group he's had for years.

  • @moonshiny74 even more are "Do The Dog" and "Raquel"

  • This is the second track they play on there current tour, The crowd goes fucking mental, I was right near the front

  • I am from Hamburg and have been in Brixton, great concert. Could you help me to find a song, it goes one (clap) two (two claps) three (3 claüs) four (4 claps) Can't find it anywhere.

    Thx a lot

    Michel

  • wow , way to be a hater, it was also me and my friend being a bunch of smart asses.

  • Saw them supporting Generation X at Derby Kings hall in Feb 78 (as the Coventry Specials). This was the only song I remembered afterwards. They were more punky then and the ska/2 tone thing hadn't started.
