OPEN DIFFS SUCK! helenaki8 is somewhat right, only a differential doesn't care which side it spins as long as it's the one with the least amount of traction or grip on it.

You can put the front and rear tire of an open diff truck on ice and tie it to a stop sign and it won't pull it over.

Buy a 4WD magazine and you'll find what you need to lock them up. I'd stay away from clutch plate limited slips tough. The Gear Driven "TruTrack" is a great limited slip though.
