video of young's double slit, with a shallow slit, and another slit approx 35 times thicker (deeper),then the lens removed from laser and shone through the slit,
VCat2006: calculating the point of contact before the slit would not create an interference pattern. This is because the particle, as a wave of potentials is just that. A single wave. The only way the interference pattern can occur is when you have a double slit. This is because the double slit turns the particles potential wave into two waves that interfere. In summary, the solid particle is behaving the way would expect waves to behave.
good clip but be careful, "What tнe #$*! Dө ωΣ (k)πow!?" is peppered with half-truths and pseudosciences, and they're not just limited to the stupid water bottle + written words thing.
If you can see the electrons, the same thing always happens. The electrons aren't conscious. They cant be 'fooled'. The effect comes from the photons you emit when watching them. They're not big enough to affect most things, but electrons are small enough for them to have an effect when they bounce off them.
You can see the electrons because you're firing photons off the electrons into the device. It doesn't matter if the device is clear as day or expertly hidden. If you're firing photons, the effect occurs.
Its not observing, but its just that if you want to see where electron is, you have to interfeare with it. And that interfearence effects how it reacts because it changes its energy.
What would happen if you turned on the light from a remote area and slowly walked towards the experiment, or lowered a camera?
From the information I have, the two experiments were separate, and no test was conducted where an observer was placed while the light was still being emitted.
Dumbass, the explanation is so fucking easy. Jesus is splitting the electron and putting it back together, but when Jesus knows hes being watched, he calls in Buddha, who is invisible but Buddha is lazy and doesn't do anything so the electron remains a particle.
Meanwhile, Allah is doing it with your mom and Shiva is constantly getting pissed off. Shiva will reach critical mass 2012 when he will release Xenu from his mountain prison and Xenu will direct Nibiru towards earth.
I got this quantum weirdness put on me when I was fairly young. I can't do the maths mostly because I'm just not that good but partly because I'm lazy (I could probably do some of it). I'm not sure this is realy that hard to get. things are made up of quanta. this exibits both particle and wave properties depending on what experiment is performed. I'm not so happy with their statement that observation has anything to do with it. the same thing would happen if no one was watching.
They make it sound new-agey, but really it's just the influence of photons on quantum particles which occur when you observe them and not when you dont.
I nearly got a BSc degree in physics and I know these things well but quantum physics has got results. I read about this in a science paper and its nothing to do with new age nonsense as thorungal puts it. it just has to do with accepting the limitations of nature. It looks like I'm going to have to remind some over and over that I'm not religious. Then again I think life is more complicated than that and so some are going to say I am wishywashy. Welcome to the online world of webtalk :D lol
lol cheers 4 reply. have you seen my web page. its pretty new but it gives an outline. although I believe our planet has been visited by aliens and some sort of govt coverup is going on, ive not found much point in trying 2 figure out more just yet as the rest of it is just alot of guess work and people who want to get the credit 4 the next big insight when they have no further evidence; and what on earth(excuse pun) is anybody going to do about it.
Well photons or whatever else they use to detect it. This reminds me of an annoying problem that new agers take advantage of. That we don't have direct access to reality, we have to make infrences from experimentation, which by it's very nature changes the result. This then tends to lead on to the inevidable insanity of ignorance that that movie (what the bleep) was based on. Quantum phisics rocks but believing that implies some sort of observer dependent universe is well insane.
I really liked the Dr Quantum cartoons when I first saw them, but after seeing the whole movie I've changed my mind somewhat. "What the *bleep*" is just a bunch of new age fanatics/cultists spouting of ridiculous claims as scientific facts.
I'm going to post the clips that are pertinent enough, and some of it seems like a implicit creationist movie at times. I'll post the objective, scientific videos that I can find.
OH SHIT! are electron matter or waves!? my Dad was talking about this... their is no objective reality, subjective reality affects objective reality, i tried to argue w/ him on it, but he's right, that's what's so cool.
Yeah seen this a while back. This is one of the weirdest things to quantum mechanics and physics. That when you reach the quantum level, nothing acts like previously thought, and even then changes.
"Lets get Spock to help us" he knows" he"ll explain it in exact datail"..

Feynman - I think i can safely say that no one understands quantum mechanics.

in order to observe the electron. you have to expose it to light which will have that effect. its not conscious. this video is fucking retarded

electrons are particles of energy, just like photons are. i don't understand why he ignores this fact

Okay, so why calculate inferference behind, but not infront of the slit slate?
VCat2006 2 years ago
Ah, it adresses that @3:00, so i'm guessing gravity of the slate affected the path of the particles. How did they measure which slit was entered?

what if the slit(s) were horizontal?

The pattern on the board would be vertical instead of horizontal.

what happens if you just hide the measuring device so the electron do not notice its being watch?

We have to be VERY careful about this one but it demonstrates very deep points:
1.The viewer can be mislead
2. There IS a rational explanation because measuring instruments affect the experiment
3. The explanation shows that science is strong but not perfect
4. Waves and particle theory show there are many different ways of looking at an apparent reality
5.So deep words are just not good enough in the form of endless counter-arguments

Here's the beauty, they are BOTH matter and wave, the same as light is both matter and wave.
It sounded crazy the first time I heard it, but it's all backed up by extensive experimenting.
The quantum world truly is fascinating.
