You need to get the License Card, once you have one you can upgrade your car.

The "Tune Shop" comes up randomly when you eject your license from the machine.

To get your Racing Engine you need to upgrade the engine 7 times. the last time you have a choice between a turbo kit, super charger or the racing egnine.

Racing Engine is best but I think all three are relatively even. Its all a matter of what you want your car to sound like really. Turbo or N/A.

well... right now. im kinda leaning to the supercharger but im thinking about a turbo kit. and my engine is a lvl 5 while everything else is like a lvl 2 through 5. so.. that shows that i have a LONG ways to go.

This was from a while ago. We've improved greatly since then.

We usually race Irohazaka or Tsukuba because their the most fun. Also having boost turned off makes the game alot more competative.

Irohazaka is more fun than Tsukuba.. Tsukuba becomes a place for S2000 and BNR 34 :( I still like to race on Irohazaka, Reverse, Wet if somoeone uses a strong car to bully me :P

Try turning it off and keep up with the pros, its not easy.

i started playing at the end of initial d 3. and then i started to watch the videos of initial d 4th stage and then when this came out i was like this is just like the anime. so im pertty good but its kinda hard for me to upgrade my car due to the random upgrade system.

This game is definatly alot more like the anime then the previous games far as the drifting is concerned. I've heard arguments that Version 3 took more skill but I dont care because I find version 4 more fun. The replays and camera angles are amazing too.

Ya I dont like that Random Tune shop thing either.

I have the Trueno, 80,000 pts and I barely get to the tune shop to use them.

i have none. ive been trying to figure that out also. and another thing. if you ever come down to texas and race me just be prepaired to have me turn off my lights at the beggining on irohazaka which is my fav course.

yes you can. just hold your little yellow button. but u must hold it for a couple of seconds or mins and the lights turn off
