NASA said that observatories as well as amateur astronomers would be able to see the plume. I have yet to find one outside source other than nasa showing a clear impact plume and not trying to confuse the issue with infer red jargon.

Well this explains why nobody saw a dust plume. The supposed size of the impact is absolutely miniscule, no way anyone with a regular telescope could catch it without being extremely lucky and keen sighted.
