  • So THIS is where they got the idea to the "Clarkson island" sketch

  • I met Mr. Whicker today in Cawsand, UK. I am from the US and didn't know how famous he was.

  • very funny lol

  • Surely the real AW saw this as a compliment to his well known programmes. There is no bad publicity etc. A real gem though.

  • @Finglesham AW loved this sketch. He included it on his Journey of a lifetime program celebrating 50 years of travelogues and reporting, so good i bought the DVD.

  • I think Chapman had the best impression. xD

  • Tony Jacklin golfclubs, secret handshakes, you wouldn't let me join would you, you excrement

  • @brabazon10 Well I'm sorry you feel that way, but we did want a bloc of flats. Nice though the abattoir is.

  • The timing is incredible. True masters, right there.

  • The suits look very nice! Must have been a large budget for wardrobe!

  • Brilliant! :D:D

  • "an island inhabited entirely by ex-international interviewers ..."

  • palin is the best Whicker

  • Infinite humor

  • This is one of my favourite sketches by them XD

  • @stitchesinyourface Is this one of Your favorite sektches by them?

  • @MrVordas For me, this is one of my favourite sketches in them.

  • this is one of my favourit sketchs by them XD

  • Pure, perfect genius. Python is the absolute zenith of comedy.

  • Thumbs up Forever for these priceless wonderful entertainers.Timeless

  • Aha!!! So that's where Geraldo lived.

  • i cant stop watching mp videos, somebody please turn off my computer :D

  • @alojz300 Yeah, they are a bit addictive..

  • Surprised they didn't build a Whicker man on Whicker Island.

  • "Well mainly for the interview".....the only none alan whicker on the island becomes one haha

  • "... who, I might say, are losing a winning battle!"

    Splendid!

  • Alan Whicker loved this and wrote them. John Cleese sent back an autographed photo of the troupe at Winterton (UK resort where it was filmed) Norfolk in full Whicker costume with a note; "here's the evidence". A bit of worthless trivia...

  • And sooooooo, from Whicker Island its fairwell and bonvoyage."

  • Father Pierre, why did you stay on in this colonial Campari-land where the clink of glasses mingles with the murmur of a million mosquitoes, where waterfalls of whisky wash away the worries of a world-weary Whicker, where gin and tonic jingle in a gyroscopic jubilee of something beginning with J

XD la Tropa de Monty Python Rulea

  • Harry and Paul's Clarkson Island sketch is suspiciously similar to this...

  • @andypandy474 That's because it's supposed to be.

  • best sketch ever!!! legends!!!

  • This never gets old.

  • Eric does it best!

  • I want to live there. XD

  • something beginning with j....

  • is this where clarkson island came from???

  • @thatkindofguy234

yeah at the beginning of clarkson island it says whicker island..then it moves on to clarksons

  • Whicker Island

  • Seriously, these characters, if they were real, could do PBS shows.

  • "For this, is Whicker Island..."

  • fantastic...

interviewing the islands only white man.

    in this colonial campari land....

    fantastic.

  • yes! thank you for uploading this

  • One of the most brilliant skits they ever did!

  • ...A race who I might say are losing a winning battle...

  • Brilliant pure genius.

  • It recently inspired Harry & Paul to do a parody called "Clarkson Island" poking fun at TOP GEAR's Jeremy Clarkson. In the intro, they pan past Whicker Island on the map.

  • ....Python genius.......

  • thats brilliant lol

  • !!!

  • "Waiting for the inevitable interview"

  • what makes this skit so great is the fact the man parodied simply laughed his head off and loved it. Alan is a legend

  • I personally would enjoy the music of repeat fees immensely!

  • i love it !!!! my island :)

  • " Father Pierre, why did you stay on in this colonial Campari land? Where the clink of glasses mingle with the murmur of a million mosquitos, where waterfalls of whisky wash away the worries of a world weary wicker, where gin and tonics jingle in a gyroscopic jubilee of something beginning with J. • one of the best!

  • ..and waiting for the... inevitable interview.

  • Harry ripped this

  • harry updated this

  • along with the spanish inquisition IMO the funniest two python sketches

  • LMAO

  • father Pierre rules!!!

  • So Alan Whicker was the British Robin Leach?

  • All that, and Whicker himself happily confessed to writing the Python team shortly after it was broadcast to say how much he enjoyed the sketch! :)

  • ROFL! Python rules! Although the original is undoubtedly the best I am rather fond of the 'Clarkson Island' paradoy by Harry and Paul. I love Top Gear but Jeremy Clarkson does my head in!

  • You'd never think John could be such a good impressionist!

  • Damn.....I spend 75 bux on the entire Monty Python collection, and still watch it on YouTube. It's just a CLICK AWAY.

  • haha same here

  • well me to but i didnt pay for it it was a gift lol

  • haha i do the same with movies

  • Haha! Pwned!

  • But I've been $pwned by YouTube as well. I looked all over for the "Elegant Universe" DVD, found it, and then came home and saw it on YouTube. :/

  • i watched the whole series on youtube but i bought the expensive set anyway, it's so much better coz you have your own set to share and laugh without having to count on internet loading.

  • I saw the Harry and Paul parody of this yesterday, great.

  • and so from Whicker island it's

    fare well

    and

    bon

    voy

    age

  • Best. Sketch. Ever.

  • that was hilarious!!!

  • People dissapearinhg off the face of the earth. Hilarious.

  • Gyroscopic jubillie of something beginning with J.

  • a classic of the seventies.

  • that was amazing

im gonna go to whicker island now!

  • oh that is a classic!!! hilarious. right up there with rival documentaries

  • This is right now one of my Top 5 favorite MP sketches, lol!

  • Oh, I LOVE the sharing lines and walking in front of the camera! An island made up of reporters? HAHAHAHA! :D

  • It must have taken forever to do this cuz of the sharing of the lines and when they had to walk in fount of them.

  • hahaha fuckin funny

  • Damn, Mike does it again. How long did it take to rehearse that line, I wonder?

  • bon voyage :)

  • I love this

  • Alan Whicker effectively invented the modern genre of TV journalism as we know it; the reporter doing the piece to camera, reporter walking and talking in shot, reporter as part of the story. He was an Army correspondent during WW2 - with the Army film unit during the campaign in Italy. A great man, great journalist - a real pro. He currently lives in Jersey. When asked once what six things he'd take to a desert island he replied:

"Two blondes, two brunettes and two redheads".

  • Who exactly WAS or IS Alan Whicker? I've always loved this sketch but it might help to know who they were making fun of . . .

  • He is a famous travel writer type. Except, in place of writing, he interviewed people on television. And he interviewed just about everyone. He now lives in France, I think, or possibly Jersey. Still wears the same clothes, I believe.

  • I guess they are laughing at Ewic`s style of talking:D Sweet...

  • splendid choreography! *lol*

  • This is my all time fav MP sketch! Thanks for that!
