Just saw Steven Page Thursday and didn't miss the rest of the band at all. He is it all. One of the greatest singers and entertainers anywhere. Barenaked who?
The big debate .. Steven P the real 3rd dimension of the BNL voice...oh sure Ed you were there too playing guitar and sining songs so you could have a piece of the limelight. But dammit really you going to say fine have Ed sing all the songs it don't matter to me. Well you are all godamm liars... C'mon Ed sings like Steve? Nay ... nay don't think so Timmy. They are just naked ladies now in my opinion. Here is the truth... Ed you will never bring the same sound Steve did...sorry that is the truth
Hey they lasted 20 years together alot longer then just about any band I can think of rolling stones excluded. I wish the four piece bnl the best. Those saying ed's voice is better or more expressive are out of their minds though . Bnl should retire the songs Steve sang on immediately
The band is nowhere near as good without him keep telling yourself that ....it will never come true. Stephen Page has one of the most unique and powerful voices in the business and Ed himself can not carry the band himself he doesnt have the vocals. R.I.P. BNL
@MrAdamp01 I've seen BNL twice since the split. They are doing just fine without Steve. Ed's vocals have gotten extremely powerful and strong from taking over since Steve left. Plus, Ed still sings all the old Steve classics and sounds great. Don't criticise them until you actually see them as a 4-piece. I like them better now.
@klynb If you don't like Ed, then stop complaining Steve's gone and just listen to his solo stuff. Seems easier than coming on videos from when Steve was in the band and going OHHH MAHHH GAWD I MISS STEVE SO MUCHHHHH!
@klynb Why do you keep deleting your comments? I can see them in my inbox anyways. Also, fair enough. I'll be the bigger man and walk away from this. Good day.
@klynb So both the founders can be gone? Doesn't make much sense to me, but whatever. We all have different opinions I guess. I'm not arguing about this.
@klynb You are missing out on timeless, classic BNL music... some of BNL's greatest songs were written and sang by Ed. Am I The Only One, Light Up My Room, When I Fall. If you check out the "bathroom sessions" on youtube you'd see what a great singer and guitarist Ed is.
@bboooobbyy I was a fan from Stunt through the breakup. I'm well aware of these songs. There is nothing wrong with those songs. If someone else would sing them, I'd probably find them awesome.
@klynb Ed was an integral part of BNL's original sound; instrumentally, compositionally and vocally. If you don't like his voice than just stfu, you're obviously in the minority.
@SterlingRe : It's so cool to read a comment like yours ! Really... We don't have to forget why we always loved the BNL ! And Steve is a (big !) part of it ! His voice, his musics and lyrics... He made a mistake ? So what ? He's just a human being ! I wish the best for him and the band (and secretly hope one day they'll be all together again...).
I'm so tired of hearing how Steven blew it. People have done such worse things in life and truly ruined their life. He didn't kill someone. Coke issues are throughout society, he's far from alone in dealing with this problem. BNL have had one hell of a run for god's sake. Steven always sounded amazing, he didn't ruin their gigs. The band will move forward. Who's to say they won't reunite at some point. He's a good guy and one of the most talented singers you'll ever hear. Focus on that.
I live near where Steven Page was arrested and now lives. He has done the absolutely right thing. He has kept clean, moved in with his girlfriend whom I assume he loves. Made his mark, made his money. Now settling down, made a mistake but who hasnt made mistakes? I wish him and his girlfriend well.
This will always be my ANTHEM. It just makes me cry so hard... but thankfully, Ed can sing it pretty damn well too... awesome, just nowhere near Steve :-(
I agree and I posted my recording of his actual last performance as a video reply. Steven will of course be missed as part of BNL, but I feel BNL will carry on well, just different! :D Go Fantastic Four!!!
Had the joy of seeing the band (all 5) on News Years Eve in Detroit. Great show, as always. Excited at the time 'cause they said they'd be back to see us in the New Year. Couple of months later Steve's leaving the band. Oh well; I wish him well in his new projects. Just wish they'd have sold the concert on a stick like other BNL shows I'd been at.
Steve looks so good. I still have to say I liked him better with some more weight on him, but he looks good and is healthier (hopefully). This is such a good song so I'm glad its here.

@klynb Yes Ed does still sound like Ed, but a much stronger Ed. He can hold a note much longer, and hit higher notes. Proof: /watch?v=he6S0SOY7d0

@ringoffirejc For years, I've skipped Ed's songs on BNL albums and politely held my tongue during concerts. Why would I want more "stronger" Ed?

@klynb That's really stupid...BNL would cease to exist without Ed. The other guys couldn't sing if their life depended on it.

Those of us on the Ships and Dip cruise in Feb '09 would disagree with this being the last BNL show :D. Maybe you meant the last LAND show.
