Oh horseshit! If these companies fold then it is an enema that is badly needed. Let them and all of the parasitical industries dumb enough to cater to them fail too. Bring on the depression! People, especially union labor, need to realize that money does not grow on trees, and nobody that runs tools should be paid more than $8.00 an hour. Piss on ya! Go learn some new skills or mow lawns - anything. It is still a business and if you want the government in on running it move to F'n China, dick.
The Democrats are losing points here. I say let the bloated three whither and die. Let the tool gophers making $40.00 an hour pound the pavement and learn a little humility. maybe change careers and work in a service industry job for $10.00 an hour. Try those swim-fins on for size and dance a mile or two in 'em.
It will not stop with GM FORD.The line with people's hands out is getting bigger each day so wear do they stop? And wear is the money coming from?We all are in deep shit!!
How many people could have stayed employed for Mulally's $760,000 of "personal" corporate jet use in 2007 alone??? Does he really care about the working families? I do not think so.
IN 2008, FORD GAVE OUT $80,000+ BONUSES TO ITS MANAGEMENT even though the company knew the upcoming years would be difficult. Now (in the SAME year) Ford is after tax payer dollars to fatten their wallets?!?!? No to Corporate Greed.
Yes you will, this whole country will. If they go bankrupt it will effect so many jobs including computer co.,cad engineers, tire companys, suppliers to tire companys, suppliers to big 3,newspaper and tv revenue, advetising and on and on and on. And it will effect the stock market.
Dude. Detroit does not equal all of American. If California asked for a bail out because the IT industry was failing to the Japanese IT industry, the uneducated douchebags of Motor Cirty would be first to say "fuck those IT educated assholes, expect money cause theys wents ta schoolz!" Fuck all you terd bags, no one gives a shot whether all you overpaid uneducated wastes of skin rot and die. Earn your money like everyone else fuck-face.
1) Without Ford or Chrysler or GM auto companies, America is in big problem, but the country is still AMERICA.
2) Without AMERICA, where can Ford, Chrysler or GM sell their cars to? Close the companies & go somewhere else, don't sell your cars to AMERICANS, you chickens. See who wins.
3) Incompetent CEOs of big-3-auto cannot make monies for the companies, when the companies are in big problems, they act like beggers (or kidnappers) to ask AMERICA government to bail them out. SHAME.
Who cares? Honestly, how the fuck can you sit back and take the penis to the ass like this America? I mean, they're completely distracting you from the real issue of them feeding your money to the fucking corporations that are responsible for putting us into this mess... You guys are stupid and I mean that in the worst way... Let the congress abuse your money by giving it to the cause?
You people are fucking stupid... Why the fuck would you get rid of Alan Mulally, the guy who kept Ford from being in the same position as GM? He's the God damn reason that they have more cars rated the highest in Safety AND INITIAL QUALITY than every other corporation, EVEN YOUR SHITTY Toyotas --- Land Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Majority stake in Mazda are all GONE from FoMoCo since 06, they are all a result of Fords DOWNSIZING, you can thank one guy for the reason Ford will survive this.
Some of their workers are the reason they're in this mess... They're paying UAW union workers 4x what they pay non-unioned workers benefits, Medicare, Insurance and performance benefits.
What you all are missing is we will pay for it whether they get laid off or not..We will pay for the $25 billion dollar bail out or for the unemployment. I say let them collapse and new business structures and ideas will thrive, concept car will come to life and you will really begin to see futuristic technology at is best...the 3 ANCIENT giants are barriers to entrant. They were told back in the 70's about gas. Brazil took note, now Nigeria is choosing ethenol and they are rich in oil.
I do get it but some of you do not. The issue, or big picture, is not the corporate jets, but the fact that all 3 CEO's knew they were going to DC on the same day and at the same time to be before the same congress hearing. Therefore, if they were truly wanting to show a foresight of monentary savings and insight into the future for their companies, they could have 'plane pooled' like so many of us do, w/car pools, more now than ever. There bottom line is for upper management and not the worker
"You don't get it! That's part of their job. They can't take a regular commercial flight:
You and many others just don't realize how important those people are."
Yes they are important. They served a vital role in running these companies into the ground. You can give me 28 million dollars a year and a private jet to do that, and i'll give you 27 million and the jet back. I can settle for a million dollars a year to suck at my job.
A-holes! Unmitigated a-holes. CEO pay scales are insanely out of whack, and crap like this needs to be a thing of the past. But an absolute MUST before we dole any tax money to these arrogant, self-entitled f-holes is that they sell the freeking jets and cut their compensation packages by a minimum of 33%. And, to be fair, Big 3 workers are going to have to share in the cutbacks, bringing them more into line with the rest of the manufacuring work force. It's reality check time for Detroit.
Wow, pretty humiliating to have listened to that. Honestly, these CEO's are not worth the money they are getting. It's theft. They didn't even have the forsight to have expected this "delicious irony" - everybody knew these 3 were so full of it that they raced to the airport to take photos. No vision. No passion. Just a pay cheque.
Nobody is worth the kind of money these self-entitled creeps make. This is the definition of corruption, and what is really sad is that some people can't even see that. Maybe someone who actually starts a company and builds it from the gound up ( like Bill Gates ) can lay claim to this kind of lavish compensation, but these CEO are not in that category.
RIDICULOUS NEWS! The private jet flight cost only around $20 000. Of course that's a lot for an average person but for GM it's nothing. The company is worth billions. The fact that GM needs cash in billions right now is irrelevant.
If GM is facing economic woes what are its other employees suppose to do? Stop driving corporate cars and ride bicycles to work?
it is not irreverent; obviously, the cost of the private jets is noting compare to what they are asking for bail out but it shows how out of touch these people are with current crisis. While every one is making sacrifice so our economy does not collapse these people still think they too good for a public plane.
ganda, You're missing the point. It's the fact that they beg for more money but are not willing to give up their luxurious lifestyle while their workers are in brink of poverty and losing their jobs.
CEO who don't care about the well-being of their employees are NOT "important" people. They are piece of shit.
GM has about 300 000 employees. Whom should the CEOs help first?
If the CEOs save 10 million and distribute it among its employees everybody will get a $33 salary increase. Now what on the fucking fuck are you going to do with your $33? Buy a new helmet?
me and you will probably never live to even see as much money as these guys have, not to mention see as much money money as these guys have to deal with. This doesn't mean that we, common people, should show no understanding towards their lifestyles.
The CEOs are certainly saving money but not the way you expect them to. Did you start riding a bicycle to work to save money? When you do probably the CEOs will start riding commercial planes. Got my point now?
I ABSOLUTELY understand these; don't talk to me like I am an idiot; I am an engineer & my company exports hundreds of millions $ a year & my projects and designs are a worth a few millions. I also have to travel aboard a couple of times a year to meet with customer and commission the equipment but I always travel on coach even tough my trips take more than 24hrs a way. One of the reasons is to save my company some money so others in my company with lesser important jobs don't get laid off.
multiply those trips by say 100 ppl x 30 times yr x 80 family members x 70 friends x 25 vacations x 60 business trips world wide x overseas expenses x storage fees x licensing x gas x upkeep x workers x surcharges.
For the plane trips per year it sums up to a few million assuming they travel once per day at least.
I can't tell you about the other multipliers because they seem to be more a product of your imagination than a part of reality.
GM had about 38 billion in revenue only for the second quarter this year. The company has over 110 billion in assets. Do you think that a few millions spend on flights matter?
News reporters are trying to play with people's minds and are succeeding!
So family, friends dont exist right? employees to fly the planes don't exist according to you? The don't take vacations? or go over seas? I can see your mind is easy to be manipulated and guided to see and believe anything. Any few MILLIONS they spend on anything is a big deal, if your in a financial crisis. Where did you take math classes?
Did you read what you wrote? If they have a profit margin like you say and assets out there ass, why do they need more money from me and others, the taxpayers.
You usually need to take business classes to fully understand that but maybe you have taken and I will try to explain my point:
Imagine a really massive moving train (GM) that's making its own gasoline (cash) proportionally to its speed. The faster the train moves the more gasoline it makes. This train produces monster amounts of gasoline (cash in billions)...
...Sometimes the train slows due to rough terrain (economic recession). If it slows down too much it loses speed and inertia and not only it produces less gasoline but it also needs more gasoline than usual to accelerate again. Therefore people who operate the train need to get some gasoline from somewhere other than the train or else the train will stop (bankruptcy).
First of all you seem not to understand the meaning of money. When it comes to more than about $10 million we are not talking about money but about power. The logic is simple: once the money gets too much you can hardly spend it on luxuries. You cant hide the money under your pillow, because you lose their value. You are given no choice but to invest the money. Therefore the only difference between having $10 million and having $50, $100 million (and more) is the power that (...)
...you get with your investment. That means you will own big properties and companies, make important decisions that impact other peoples lives. All the presidents are already given great power, especially the US president. We can pay the president $100 billion but he doesn't really need the money, because the only thing that he can do with that much money is invest it and get more power but he already has the power doesnt he? You are misunderstanding how big amounts of money work arent you?
I had to post this video because it just amaze's me the gall these CEO's and others have in the corporate world. I do not want to see any blue collar workers laid off because of the stupidity of company CEO's and higher management persons. In my opinion a place to start would be to take the top 2/3 of each of the big 3 corp. headquarters and out source those white collars right to the unemployment line and then lease out those offices.
A CEO's time is very important. They don't have time to fly coach class.

1. First because this type of saving will help nobody! save $19 000 from flights

2. they have to change their whole schedule in order to take a commercial flight
3. What if the bloody airport delays the flight as it often does? It's not reliable, is it?
