  • Does Erik always have a sward at hand? :) Maybe he knew that Raoul would come?

  • WOW! Phantom has skill, style, AND class. Doesn't get much better. :)

  • The phantom looks like Dracula. <3

  • BARROWMAAAAN!

  • He should have been like "This... is.... THE OPERA!!!"

  • hot

  • The alternative fight of Darth vader Vs Luke lol

  • threw the whole fight scene i was chanting: "Erik! Erik! Erik! Erik!" but when he lost his sword and when Erik was on the ground i was all "NOOOOO!!! It's war! Me+Erik vs. Raoul+Christine!"

  • @aidarulesthud Haha! That was basically my reaction. I mean, come on, you gotta side with the person who possesses awesome cape-swishing skills! :D

  • @liveforlife2494 i know right!?

  • this scene was so stupid. So Raoul had the Phantom at bay and let him go?!!? I can understand not killing him, but that does not mean you have to let him go. Why not turn him over to the authorities?

  • @warblerab There was no real way to do it. He had no rope or

anything and its no like he could take out his phone to call

    the cops

  • @Beowulf54rs He had Christine right there. He couldn't ask Christine to go get rope or get the cops. Are you really trying to tell me that when you have a murderer at bay like that, the right to do it to just let him go?

  • @warblerab No, but there was no other choice then to

let the phantom go or kill him. There would be no place

to get rope other then the carriage or to go into town which

is the only way to get the cops. Either way they didn't have

anything to hold bac the phantom that long to restrain him

or anything. He either had to let him go or kill him.

  • @Beowulf54rs what do you mean there was no other choice. Christine could have easily gone and gotten rope/the cops. As for holding back the phantom, RAOUL HAD A SWORD AND THE PHANTOM WAS UNARMED. Sure, if the phantom tried to escape, Raoul might have had to kill him, that would be the Phantom's fault, not Raoul's. Killing a murderer to stop an escape attempt is quite different than just killing an unarmed man that is just sitting there not resisting.

  • @warblerab Its a sword not a gun. The phantom had enough

time to wait for the right time to strike or run off. The city could

have been hours away or minutes away. Its would only take

3 seconds for the phantom to decide something. There were other

choices but only two that would work 100% Kill him or let him

    go for another time.

  • @Beowulf54rs "The phantom had enough time to wait for the right time to strike or run off." huh? What is he going to strike with??? THE PHANTOM WAS UNARMED. How is the Phantom going to run off??? Raoul had sword pointed right at him. Raoul could have easily run him through if the Phantom tried to escape.

  • @warblerab Again he had to let him go or kill him. Its

highly unliely even if he had to use his hands that the

phantom would not try to fight or run away.

  • @Beowulf54rs Raoul has a sword and the phantom doesn't. If the Phantom does try to fight or run away, he wouldn't succeed.

  • i love christine was watching like a movie

  • there's nothing more hot than to hot guys with spades

  • At 1:32 Sweeney Todd seriously needs to randomly pop up and slash Roauls throat ha!

  • @sillysilentclara396 Something tells me Sweeney and Erik would get along well xD

  • @sillysilentclara396 I would LOVE that XD

  • The ending is my favorite

  • if this WAS real, Erik SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wouldve kicked his ass!!!

    he's a great swordsman!!!

    read the book!!!

    you'll see what i mean...

  • Roul sword is from The Princess Bride!!!!!!! Go me for seeing that!!!!!!!!

  • thats was gerLD BUTLER AS THE PHANTOM OMG! I LIKE HIS ACTING EVEN MORE!!!

  • The thing that's irratating (But almost ina good way) during this scene is that you have NO IDEA who Christine is rooting for. Since she loves both of them (Kinda) you don't know if she wants Erik or Raoul to win. I'm sure if Erik had been the one to kick Raoul's sword away she would have responded in the same way thought.

    ("No Erik! Not like this!")

  • christine is one of them lucky bitches....two guys fighting over her..just damn lucky

  • The shots are all horrible.

  • What will happen if the fight scene was very different. When Raoul and the Phantom are going to draw their sword for the very last time. Before one of them is going to be the last man standing!

  • Was the arm slash on Raoul real? I really don't know if it is or not

  • @MrSherlockholmes02 Are you wondering if Gerard Butler as Erik/The Phantom really slashed open Patrick Wilson (Raoul)'s arm? I doubt it, they usually do it with special effects because very few people want to be intentionally hurt in the making of a movie. They probably did it with fake blood in a pouch attached to Patrick Wilson's arm or something--just a guess of mine. But you're right--it's very hard to tell.

  • @MrSherlockholmes02 Ha ha ha...what is that a JOKE? --Aren't you the famous detective Sherlock Holmes? And your telling us that you can't determine if the wound in this movie between two actors is Real or Fake? Come one Holmes.... use your little grey cells .... It's Really Elementary

  • Notice around 1:23. The second just before the camera switchs over Phantom, Raoul smiles ( not planned ). You might not be able to see it good on this vid. TV works better.

Then when Phantom shoves Christine over ( earlier ), as she draws back she too smiles.

Gerry's co-stars must find him pretty funny looking when he's trying to me angry or serious in this movie ^^)

  • @RedRosesLast4eva omg he does smile lol just noticed that :)

  • why does he want war on both of them Cristina just SAVED PHANTOM'S LIFE

  • luv phantoms face expression @ 1:29 *sigh* so hot

  • @bestaccountofcourse My favorite bit of the Phantom in this whole movie :D

  • It's a shame that this fight scene is counting very short! But it's very epic!

  • "Now, let it be war upon you both."

  • Except for the element of surprise and sheer craziness, the Phantom was at a disadvantage when it came to literally everything else and yet he still managed to kick Raoul's ass most of the fight.

  • TEAM RAOUL BETCHEZ XD

  • If I were Christine, I would have killed Roul and ran off with the Phantom ((:

  • Yeah! Kick his ass, phantom!!

  • The Phantom might have some vision damage from his disfigured face, maybe that is why he lost.

  • SURPRISE ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know if it was done intentionally or not, but I like how when the Phantom is on the offensive he's like one big shadow from his cloak whirling about. It's cool touch.

  • @MrWezlum18 I think it may have been intentional, since he has the whole cape-whirling thing going for him in other scenes of the movie as well. One thing that struck me was how the Phantom was pretty much silent throughout the whole thing...making him a shadow or a ghost of some sort :D

  • @liveforlife2494 a shadow or a ghost of some sort. . . how apropos.

  • Hey, did the Phantom do his own stunts?

  • @bellydancebabe1234 Gerard Butler did some of his own swordfighting as the Phantom, but if you look closely, you can see some shots where it's clearly not him. So for this scene at least, they used stunt doubles.

  • Now, let it be war upon you both.

    Scary, creepy, smexy.

  • I am so team Raoul.

  • Team Raoul!!!!! -3 :)

  • @bellydancebabe1234 WHY?????? :( Come to the phantom.....!

  • Now Let it be war upon you both...

    EPIC

  • total "oh shit" moment.

  • you why the phantom loses in this fight ...cause always holiding his fuckin' cape ....

  • @M6RC6N the cape actually works though

  • Raoul just need to butt out. Seriously...

  • My fav part is when the phantom has his sword stuck and pushes raoul aside

  • @Batgirlrocks3000 Mine too! His facial expression is *so* sexy!

  • @GothicAnnamal i know right,the phantom is sooooooo H-O-T!

  • I laugh at the begining of this fight, because I can just read the phantoms mind when he jumps down and takes 4 seconds to grab his sword.. "Oh hold on, let me get my sword.., ahh there we go!" "attack"

  • at 0:07, is it the Phantom or Raoul shouting out? thanks!

  • @tensandtens I never thought of it before, but listening closely I actually hear two...probably Erik (the Phantom) and Raoul, in that order. If I heard correctly, Raoul's the higher-pitched one you hear when his sword hits the ground around 0:08.

  • @liveforlife2494 you're right! thank you so much! =D

  • @tensandtens No problem! =)

  • Now. Let it be war; upon you both.

  • Say... you say this has your favourite shot of the Phantom ever - which one are you referring to?

  • @DelphanGruss When Erik (the Phantom) is on his back glaring at the camera. Although I'm more than a shallow fangirl, it's still a perfect fangirl moment XD

  • @liveforlife2494 I'm a fanBoy - and for me, my favourite shot of the Phantom in this scene is him swooping down from atop the mausoleum. It's so tremendously bad-ass.

  • Why didn't Christine just take the horse & leave while they were fighting? Geez...

    TEAM PHANTOM. <3

  • Man... every time I see this scene, I just want to step out and hit Raoul in the back of the knees with something blunt so the Phantom could kick his ass. He's an irritating, poncy, blonde-haired git, and the Phantom DESERVES that girl. He certainly put in the god-damn effort...

  • iF this was real, id love to go back in time to give Raoul a haircut

  • You're out of your league Raoul. You're crossing swords with a Spartan King! Still, if it's awhoopin' you're awantin....

  • @shadowfox1383 *laughs* I never thought of it that way. Looking at the big picture, Erik dished out harm and suffered none.

  • Go Phantom (Erik)

    Raoul is such a pussy

  • Go Phantom!!!!

  • I hate this film, the sword fight is the only thing I like in the entire thing.

  • This is kinda random, but how did he keep the mask on? I never see a strap.

  • If you're talking about Gerard Butler (the Phantom), he kept the mask on with double-sided sticky tape. If you're talking about the Phantom as a character...magic!!

  • @liveforlife2494 haha thanks!

  • Sure! =)

  • I was just thinking about that! I just got finished watching it and now I have been searching random things about tPHotO.

  • I forgot Phantom of the Opera was made into a movie.

  • Hehe.. lol I read the description and I got the joke about your "favorite shot".. I highly agree... LMAO

  • This is one of the worst movie sword fight scenes I have ever witnessed.

  • Wait, swordfight? The version I'm familiar with has the Phantom throwing fireballs at Raoul.

  • @86zebras You're either thinking of earlier movie versions or the Broadway musical. The most recent movie version of this has a swordfight in place of the fireballs.

  • It sucks the Phantom loses! But I guess Raoul had better training (since he's rich he can hire profesionals) and the Phantom may have been out of practice. Who can he spar with? Still, this is a great scence!

  • they could have just ended the movie right there since the phantom LOSES.

"and I would have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!"

  • @Deepdesert We're watching the phantom of the opera not scooby-doo.

  • Pues yo me pongo de parte del Fantasma...Ánimo Erik! Que tú puedes con Raoul!

  • this sence has so many things wrong with it... I mean the phantom could have kicked raouls ass. I mean come on he is the freakin opera ghost! I could understand if christian begged the phantom not to kill raoul if he got the upper hand and then raoul take a cheep shot and then they ride off together but i can't belive raoul getting the upper hand.

  • Actually, Raoul is probably better trained than the Phantom--you can see from his hair and clothing (from that time period), he's clearly in the militia. The Phantom basically knows stage swordfighting--who'd he spar with in that lonely cave? Madame Giry? That wouldn't prepare him for going up against a fully trained soldier--which this Raoul is.

  • in this version I would agree with you this phantom is a pussy I half expect him to say killing Josheph was a acident I am not used to killing people. (Charles dance quote kinda) But the phantom charator to most was a assine in pershia and one of his names was the angel of death. and sorry for the bad spelling.

  • @Druzica18 Yeah, well... I was hoping that when Christine stopped Raoul, she would go with Erik ( The Phantom ). And the question about him sparring with Madame Giry already has its answer : he would never hurt her, since she's the one who saved him as a child.

I just wish the movie had more scenes of them together conversing, and confiding instead of her always watching him from afar.

  • @Druzica18 Quite right. I imagine as well that, given his heavy cloak and the deformity which his mask hides, Erik's movement and depth perception would be slightly hampered. There also is the factor to take in that Raoul recovered quite quickly from his wound, which I imagine took Erik by surprise.

Not many people can take a blow like that and still fight, much less take the fight straight to the Phantom.

If you also look carefully, you can see the difference in their footwork.

  • coolio

  • i love this scene thanx for uploadin' it mate

  • Sure!

  • Thanks for uploading, it's one of my favorite scenes as well!

  • Sure! Thanks for commenting =)
