@gordoncampion The water cannon is a traditional airport 'salute' used worldwide to mark special arrivals, often including the first flights on new routes.
@Cybergrycer haha that's absolutely wrong...and in addition the engines are opening to the side after the touchdown, that happens only by an airbus a330-300!
@ThePole1989, you'll find Emirates' fleet details on their website. They do have A340-300s, but only the -200 variant of the A330, which they normally use to launch new routes.
I thought the quality was pretty good. Sure will try to fly to Durban in future, to the new King Shaka airport. Will they close the old one or use it for Comair flights?
thx for the camera man thx a million i was looking for this video i was the first officer on this flight an we were exited to see durban .. what a beautiful destination..
@cappiecosta thanks for commenting! That was an awesome landing on a short runway in those conditions! I agree Durban, great destination. At least next time you fly to Durbs, you can land on a much longer runway!. Cheers!
I was on this flight,we left Dubai at 10:15am and arrived in Durban at about 5.20/30pm on 01/10/2009,i wish there was more footage, would have loved see my family and i getting off. We got free goody bags from Emirates on exiting the airport.
O btw you referred to the quality of the vid in the description... I think its fine. In comparison to some of the other SA aviation videos on the tube yours is FULL HD mate! We need more like you on the Ytoube. Thanx a lot & keep them coming.
GREAT STUFF MATE!!! Love the way everyone rushed to meet the plane. I can just imagine them standing in front of the door waiting for it to open, adjusting their ties, going :"I hope their nice". What a great sight... such a great plane at Durban. How many times a week is it scheduled? And when you came in with the A340 that day did they also park it on that same stand?
wasnt tht water cannon a bit redundant

that's an Airbus A330-300 and not an A330-200!

@ThePole1989, Emirates do not have any A330-300s in their fleet, it is a -200 as described.
