If it's only a 1X dilution (1^10) then there is actually some of the active ingredient in there... it's not a homeopathic dilution.

Two things are required to "fully" understand a phenomenon: First, the establishment that the phenomenon indeed is real, and second, a plausible mechanism explaining said phenomenon. Now, Homeopathy advocates claim that science is unable to explain it. This is true; there is no plausible mechanism for Homeopathy. However, this has no bearing on the ability of the scientific method to test whether or not it works. Homeopathy hasn't demonstrated that it even works in the first place.

I think the point I am making is that homeopathy seems to be an ideology not a tool. Why do people cling to it as if it were a meaningful part of their personality? If someone pointed out several good clinical trials showing that my Asthma meds didnt actually work I would stop taking them and look for better ones that did. I wouldnt launch a personal attack on said person as if the guy had just called my mother ugly.

It would be a great idea, no side effects, no overdosing, no lethal drug interactions, what could be better. If it was shown to work in replicable good double blind clinical trials then the medical community would embrace it with open arms. The only conspiracy here is that you are being charged a whole bunch of money for sugar pills. Which let me remind everyone are mostly produced by the same drug companies that produce main stream drugs.

It keeps failing trials, the correct response from the proponents of homeopathy would be to shrug, perhaps swear and change your opinion, chuck a bad idea and look for a better one. But instead they just engage in special pleading and demand more trials. Trials incidentally that are normally paid for using tax payers money, unlike standard drug trials. If worked it would simply be absorbed into standard medical practice.

What surprises me is how committed people are to homoeopathy, when there is evidence staring them in the face. Why defend something that keeps failing all the tests. Scientific medicine learns and grows, homoeopathy just ignores contrary evidence and carries on regardless. Aside from the fact that the homoeopathic theories are akin to sympathetic magic and really don't have a realistic mechanism. Homoeopathy has been given the benefit of the doubt and tested as if it were any other drug.
