  • Nice! I love this song! I'm seeing Journey and night ranger again with foreigner. I can't wait!

  • please make a tutorial i'm a huge fan of Journey, it would be awesome if you could! (:

  • This is amazing. I'm a young Journey Fan trying to learn how to play, and you are inspiring! Thanks so much, you have a lot of skills!

  • ur awesome

  • Wow... im 14 and i love journey more than my parents probably more than well a lot of people but his piece was inspiring.. can u make a tutorial? much appreciated

  • Don't try suicide nobodies worth it! Nice playing though!

  • What's with the wrist bands?

  • Man, this is so brilliantly played! Too bad it's not complete! You are very skilled!

  • love it! I am (v slowly!) learning this from watching you play... cant find the sheet music ANYWHERE but i can just about see what keys you are hitting... would be brilliant if you were to re record now that the you tube time slot is longer! be great to find out how you ended it :) might even post my own vid but you'd have to put up with my mistakes (think i need more fingers :p) frickin brilliant song one of their best!

  • Good Job

  • Hey.. i love it !! :D

  • Great Job!

  • Cool.

  • i really love the dynamics in your playing...I could sing to it...hmmm wish you would have the whole thing....need the whole thing please ....cries

  • so awesome !

  • sounds awesome! What Journey music book did you get this song from?

  • very good job!

  • OMG!! THT WAS AMAZING!!!

did u write ur own music 4 this??

  • no, this version was from one of the Journey books and is therefore not close to how Cain plays it. I don't usually like doing it this way but for some reason at the time this is how I learned it.

  • oh..its still kool man..i wish u can play piano 4 my band..we dnt have a piano player or a vocals haha

  • @blackratsnakes

Which book? None of us can find it! Help! (thanks!)

  • It was called something like "Journey Greatest Hits" Sheet music. It's not quite how Jon plays it, but sounds ok as an instrumental this way.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • To BRS, is there any way you can upload your entire version?

  • I don't have the entire version recorded, I knew at the time I couldn't fit all of it so I ended shortly after I hit stop.

  • Que bonito se escuchaba, lastima que se cortó el video, igual gracias.-

  • Thank you. At the time I couldn't figure out to record more without the file becoming too large and fitting on youtube so I had to cut it short. Glad you liked it.

  • thanks :)

  • thats so cool man good job

  • Thanks, I like your user name.

  • great job man

  • This one is so fun to play, especially with the bass notes leading up to the chorus.

  • good stuff.!!!

  • Thanks, kick ass tune!

  • you rock man ! mother father is such a cool tune ! and you do it wicked ! cheers to you !

  • i thought i heard a influence of perhaps elton john and cat stevens !

  • hello there ! nice piano werk man you sound awesome ! i sing along with it and then it ends, i wish it was complete ,but no diss to you it is great ! i here some other influences

    let me know who !

    steve nanaimo bc canada

  • Thanks for singing along. I'm sure I could record a complete version if I had to. Not sure who my influences are, I typically get inspired watching famous musicians play piano like Billy Joel and Jonathan Cain. I also like many of the original piano songs I find on youtube.

  • Oh can't forget Bruce Hornsby although he is tough to emulate.

  • I love this song...you have done a wonderful job with it. I only wish you had sheet music for it, since I play by sheets, and yours is a version I'd like to play...

  • very cool! do you have a tutorial video?

  • I don't think I'd make a very good teacher. Hopefully people can see some of the notes as I play. I often use youtube performances to help with songs I'm learning.

  • do you have music sheet or chords? is this correct? i got it from the net, but these are just pure chords, Em A/C# D G/B C She s its a lone, an empty stare F#/A# B E/G# A mother's face she wears Em A/C# D Where did she go wrong, G/B C the fight is g one F#/A# B

Lord help this bro ken home

  • yep I just worked those through on the piano, they look correct.

  • Very very nice. Wish I could afford a proper joanna like what you have.. or even fit one in my bedroom.. or even get the wife to agree to me having one. Cheers.

  • I'm still paying it off but it was worth it. They used a crane to hoist it over our balcony and get it onto the second floor. Love Journey, a lot of the not so popular ones too.

  • Nice job! One of my favorite Journey songs that not too many people know. Thanks for doing this!

  • Love the song, lately I've been playing along with it. I love how it gets intense on the last verse.

  • dude what happened to ur wrists lol did u sprain em and if u did u rfucking amazing

  • Fantastic perfomance. Brilliantly played.

  • 10/10 good job bro!

  • I like this song especially performed by Deen Castronovo!!!!!

  • You read my mind, he does an excellent job. I love watching him perform it live.

  • yup deen's version is the best! my favorite.

  • this song is pretty good but could u post the whole song?

  • omg!! awesome!! love this love

  • Excellent performance!

  • That's awesome! I followed your video with my electric guitar including the first Guitar Solo. I just wished that the whole song fit though so I can fallow the whole thing through. Awesome piano playing!

  • Thanks, I never thought about someone playing along, that's sweet! You should post a video if possible of the guitar part, love to see it.

  • omg!! awesome!! love this love

  • wow that is so awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, it's a lot of fun to play.

  • dude thts sweet

  • where did you find the sheet music for this song? i cant find it anywhere

  • I may used some sheet music from one of the Journey colletions but it's been some time now and half of it is from listening to the song.

  • ah ok, i was wondering cause I find myself drawn to this video everytime i get on the computer and keep telling myself i have to play it, I just have to keep watching you and listening and eventually work it out. Thanks though your a great player

  • So you can just listen to something being played and then play it yourself????

  • Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the difficulty of the song but as always I like to use both the sheet music and actual song to do the best job I can.

  • "dong the best job that you can" makes my day; I watch and listen to one of your songs to start my day and again to end each day. You are very talented, indeed!

  • Great job!!!

  • Nicely done

  • great job , if you're taking requests,,,,,,,,,, Bruce Hornsby's "country doctor"

    thanks!

  • good job!

  • 5 stars!! beautiful

  • Incredible skills! You did the song great justice.

  • Thanks so much! It's a fun song to play, especially going at those bottom notes :)

  • Johnathon Cain is a great keyboard player and seems to be classically trained. I love this song and you just don't here it on the radio at all....what a shame.

  • Totally agree. Mother, Father is just a unique piece of work.

  • OMG! That was FUCKIN INCREDIBLE!! This is the song i am trying to learn and you have just helped me. Thank you!

  • Yeah I love playing this one, especially banging out the "Hey Mother" part on the bass octaves. Glad I could help, maybe you'll post your own version someday, love to see it!

  • Yeah I prolly will. Did you learn by ear or did you read sheet music?

  • A little bit of both. I usually start out with the sheet music and then I listen to the song and try to match what I'm hearing. The sheet music never seems to match how it's played exactly.

  • right i actually cant read any sheet music. everything i play is by ear. I know "Dont Stop Believin', Open Arms, Who's Cryin' Now, When You Love A Woman and Winds of March on piano which i should have posted soon. I hear it, i see it, i play it. Although i would like to have an understanding of the theoretical part of piano playing

  • Excellent Job for an Excellent Song!

  • Excellent ! You're as good as Rolie and Cain. I'd like to hear your improvisation on their song, "Patiently."

  • holy..nice

  • GREAT job! I love this song....I love Journey, and Steve Perry too! Wonderful job!
