Drum and bass is diversifying at such a massive pace now, I have to accept I'm not going to like a lot of where it's going. This comes under that category, Chase and Status used to rep it proper...
I'm not asking this to offend anyone but can someone tell me what emotion this type of music is supposed to make you feel? It's just that music is supposed to make you feel something and with every song I have ever heard (whether I have liked that song or not) I've been able to identify which emotion(s) somebody might feel when hearing it. That is, every song outside of this genre. Please help, I just don't hear it.
i agree with most here, their early stuff was ok production wise. This stuff just isnt up my alley, i guess its cool to have some variety in the dnb world, lord knows its needed. But something else haha!
@bottle2lip Agree 100% my friend, the fact the Drum and bass "legends" dabble in dubstep and UK grime really grinds my gears. Why do they feel the need to collaborate with mainstream artists?!
fucking lol at this, compared to what chase and status actually made when they first came out this is a fucking joke. wastest sellouts in any genre to have ever lived ever, yes more than fucking pendulum.
@MrWigglezDubstep the only reason you'd prefer if he didn't is cause you sit on your computer watching gigs and don't actually go to them as you are a faggot.
@bigbobabc123 clearly your just one of them aggresive people whole like to argue so they seem like they know it all, its about personal preference, you are a sad person for arguing with somebody you do not no, and to even comment in the first place, you are the sad one my friend
5 or 6 years ago i hitch hiked and ended up, stuck out, in the middle of this place, climbed out onto the freeway, when this old man comes up to me and my friends and we had about 10 bucks between us, and he goes,
Talking of young producers plead have a quick look at stuff I made on my channel. Some is house, sone is dnb and I've got a part dnb part dubstep track going on soon. Please give it a chance and help me improve with comments. I'm very new so be nice please :-) would appreciate comments and views Thankyou very much. I'll keep uploading if you like it. And also long live chase and status :-D
I said what i did because the drum kit looks like a regular kit, not one using electronic triggers, i.e. it's mic'd up like a live kit. if it is triggers, fine. my point is it's not the same as someone like the jungle drummer or macc drumming because their sound comes from the actual drum kit. i'd appreciate not being called an idiot for a legitimate comment but then i guess some people see youtube as an opportunity to be rude to people they don't even know. : /
I don't think the drummer used triggers, I think he's there just to double the drum tracks from the drum machine... The Prodigy do it the same, so I think this is how C&S do it too. You can hear the drummer's additional breaks, which aren't part of the song and sound different then the original beat. Probably you can hear them both live, I'm not sure they were mixed right in this video.
i always find it weird hearing a studio dnb tune performed "live", don't get me wrong, i love the tune, but the snare has a certain sound because of compression, eq, layering and various other studio techniques, so the drummer is obviously miming, i guess it gives it wider appeal to appear live rather than just a DJ.
your an idiot. the drummer isnt miming. you can use compression and eq and all of that live plus he is probably using triggers which they would have going in to a sample of the snare sound used in the normal track.
next time you accuse someone of faking you should probably no what your talking about first ;)
Iv got mixed feelings about dnb goin mainstream as iv grwon up listenin to this music and now this shits in my blood. It's like this, if u love dnb as much as me then ul know wot i say when i say i wish everyone in the world is as passionate about it as i am, but that ain't gonna happen unless it goes in the charts cos that the only way its gonna reach a wider audience. BUT im well scared of it being turned into some fucked up pop tart brittany spears bollox!!
Now Andy C & Shimon broke the top 40 back in 2001 with Bodyrock on vinyl sales alone, without any major label backing or tv advertisement, this was Ram records first taste of chart success and was purely a result of cause n effect not selling out. I.e the tune was just so original everyone wanted it and as a result it charted. At the end of the day good music is good music regardless of its genre and if u was making it, would'nt u want as many people to hear it as possible? Im sure u would...
@DjStix007 not that.. more the fact of D&B fans (such as myself) don't like mainstream music and this goin into mainstream music where it has a few weeks glorly then is forgotten.. pisses me off really
@DjStix007 there will always be a couple of big names that go commercial as like David Guetta, but then there will always be the guys who stay true to the filth :D
@DjStix007 i understand where your coming from mate, but if u look at DNB as a whole, including the culture. I personally think where it sits at the moment is where it’s best and where it should stay. You have the odd dnb song, proper dnb song, being in the top 40 but not too many to hurt the scene but enough just to get more listeners and to get it that just a bit more recognised. Young producers will keep this genre where it is.
@hambotify that isn't fact m8, thats just a rumour at present, iv done alot of research into this and can't find any evidence to back it up at all, however they have produced for rhianna on her rated r album, but i wrote all this following the success of more than alot, and thats not what i ment anyway, im speaking strictly about taking dnb and dubstep and diluting the sound just to make it mainstream, that sux!
@TJDav14 ugh i think i heard that the other day, gotta admit im not feelin' half of the new LP from these guys n all...Doh well, back to the underground we go ;)
@Chrismurf0121 du know wot i mean m8, its like this track right here is living proof that undiluted dnb rocks and gets people dancing, so theres absolutly no need to go n water it down just to make it more accessable to the public. Keep it raw n keep it real
@OneTeaExtraOoo, No they go off them because mainstream fans are the type of people who you don't want to associate with. It also becomes just purely about money in the mainstream market.
@OneTeaExtraOoo its not that people go off bands JUST because they go mainstream, its that people fall in love with these artists for their style on the underground, but when they change their style just to go mainstream its hard to keep that affection as it becomes such an obvious shift from 1 style to another just to appeal to the pop culture. Im sorry dude, but that sucks big time.
@DjStix007 fair point, but what about bands that dont change their style and still go mainstream. People still go off them. Case in point Enter Shikari- their second album was heavier and altogether less accessible than their earlier stuff and so many people turned their back on them when they got big.
@drdethdefy those sort of people are what i call tourists m8 , fashion victims, people who think they're trend setter's, its all an image thing with people like that. I can bet u right now that all those people were only into Enter Shakari, because they were the "next big thing" but sadly when it comes to shallow hipsters like that, they lose interest once the band actually "makes it" ironic? But thats a different thing altogether and i dont want this discussion to digress too much ;)
you are a retard mate... artists like chase & status cant spend there whole careers rolling round playing dubs, , , if they wanna make p's then they have to do what the management think is best... artists being well known and well recieved is not mainstream... just means they are good!
