@captmick79 Ya, but the general public wont be buying any of these. Boeing was only there to showcase to potential buyers. We (the general public) have to wait until these are in production.
@raptors222222 such an ignorant comment. Ever walk into a room of Boeing engineers? It's full of people born in China and India. The 787 and other Boeing aircraft parts are built in other parts of the world and assembled in the US. American universities are turning out ~80% fewer engineers than 10 years ago. Our country is in deep decline. American kids watch too much filthy TV shows that glorify popularity and leisure (party, drinking, weed smoking) and bash "geeks".
Well, the flyby proved that no matter what the noise rating on the engines, all it takes is one bad flap setting to ruin the peace. As for the landing, once the reversers closed, the lack of volume was beautiful!

I agree I was at both public days and these gems were not displayed. All we got was the same old tosh you would expect from a provincial air show. Not a vintage year as far as the public days were concerned. No 787, no A400M, and no F22. All of which displayed on the trade days only . I felt cheated.
This thing can really land on a dime, Wow! This means it can easily access any destinations in the world quite efficiently and with style. Can't wait to fly on one.
Anyone who's afraid to get on a "composite" plane, keep in mind - unlike Steel & Titanium, Aluminum does NOT have an endurance limit - it will eventually fracture under cyclic loading. I'm not sure what ceramic fiber - polymer composite they're using (probably proprietary), but I hope they have (or are) figuring out the required maintenance schedules.
@GrahamCorlet English is my native tongue, I have a British Passport and my mum comes from England (Dad is a Brit whose family emigrated to Caribbean) Complex, but there is no real answer, so I say British.

Lots of misinformation going on in the comments here. Um, carry on...?
@deedx It's the first landing outside of the US at all. It has flown in Canadian airspace several times during flight testing since Seattle/Puget Sound straddle the border but it has never landed outside of the US before.
@m1r3o me too, it'll be 100% better than the huge big bulky Airbus A380 which granted is a nice aircraft but the 787 dreamliner is the airplane with the wow factor for me, completely brand new materials like composite's , summat airbus havent used in the a380, oh dear Airbus still using the older technology, thats why the A380 failed it eco friendly test. ha ha well done Boeing!
Airbus has used large parts made out of composites since their very first plane, the A300. All what Boeing did in these days was shouting that they will never "build a plane out of plastics". And no, there were NOT "a hell of accidents". Look how many 737 have crashed.
@blablubb12345 "composites" do not have to be made from polymers (aka plastics) to be considered composites. Metals, Ceramics, Polymers...a composite is simply a combination of at least two. Composites have been used in aviation for a very, very long time.
@blablubb12345 either Boeing is now eating their words or marketing geniuses, as Airbus is following with their own A350/330 "composite" variant. Either way, hopefully they continue to push each other with innovation.
@blablubb12345 come on, fly by wire NASA INVENTED & PIONEERED AND AIRBUS INTEGRATED IT IN AIRLINER FIRST IF WAS A EMERGENCY IT WOULDN'T LT HIM TAKE OVER & GET CONTROL WERE A 787 OR 777 WOULD LET THE PILOT TAKE CONTROL IF HE HAS TOO. BOEING AND AIRBUS'S ARE BOTH GOOD PLANES BUT BOEING WINS ME OVER ON MOST ASPECTS! AND PEOPLE SHOULDN'T CALL BOEING SUICIDE AS THE 747 IS THE SAFEST AIRCRAFT IN THE SKIES AND HAS BIN 47 YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE IN THE 747-8I.
@Laterboy13 been looking at the redesigned a350, and I've got to say I'm impressed, but I still think the 787 has the huge wow factor in me! but I congratulate Airbus on their redesign of the a350 and one thing i notice is that the a350 wing looks the same as a 787's! I was laughing when i found out that the original a350 was not liked so much they had to redesign, i was LMFAO!
@Corkscrew777doughnut.. that's courtesy of the thrust reversers.. as it's landing you can briefly see a gap about 2/3 back on the nacelles (the rear third of the engine ferring slides back) as the reversers are engaged.
@teta809 Airbus are hopeless, they use old technology, what Boeing have been using for over 50 years! Boeing use the new technology first, for example Airbus haven't yet produced a plane made from 100% composite material, fact Boeing has with the dreamliner.
@teta809 oh right that why Boeing have been going a hell of alot longer than Airbus and is that why out of all the millions of 747's built only 45 of them ever crashed! is that why virgin Atlantic use Boeing's, is that why all long haul pilots say they prefer Boeing's by far. ur just mad on Airbus, start living in modern aviation. no Airbus can come to a full stop in 20 seconds like a Boeing 787 can, the a380 has 2 thrust reverser's as opposed to 4 on a 747-8, if it's Airbus scream for ur life!
@teta809 45 is gd when u think how many million them have been made, 747 is the safest jetliner flying and thats fact! virgin atlantic use both 747-400's & a340's actually, i shud know cos i flew orlando with virgin atlantic on 747-400 and it was lovely smooth and turbulence didn't really notice apart from when got bad coming into orlando flying thru a bruin storm that broke out about five minutes after we'd landed. Come on the 787 looks amazing don't it tho, be honest even tho ur airbus guy?
@guitarplayerforu 747 is a great plane but be honest the a380 looks better even if it's not giving airbus a profit. 787 is an amaizing plane juz like the a350, but the a350 looks a bit better. The a380 looks like a cute big fat elephant;)-and the new 747 that's coming out it's basicly designed around the a380's interior design. I love planes in general I'm exited for the 787 and A350 juz like I was for the A380. I love the fact that planes only get safer and more advanced
@sthill1993 NASA pioneered fly-by-wire. Airbus was the first to put digital fly-by-wire in an Airliner. Unlike Airbus, Boeing allows the Pilot to override in case of emergency.
@TxGearhead that's my main point to sthill1993 and all the others who say airbus are move innovative the boeing, A: boeing has been going for longer = more experience, B: boeing use a lot newer technology and there more reliable in my opinion!
@sthill1993 NASA invented fly by wire actually and Airbus was the first to use it in a airliner and hell were there lots of accidents! boeing always been better than airbus and Boeing been going longer therfore boeing more reliable & innovative, more 787 have sold than the huge A380 wat pointless, 747 big & reliable enough for airlines, & wiv new 747-8I variation being released 2012 it'll be interesting 2 see how many cancel A380
747-8i is 11% more fuel efficient than huge A380 & that's a fact.
@guitarplayerforu Well Why didn't Boeing think of putting in FBW? Come to think of it what have they innovated in the last 25 years? Airbus have pioneered something Boeing doesn't have, cockpit commonality. Maybe 747-8 is more efficient, but the only passenger orders (25) come from airlines who have ordered A380s. No one else will cancel their order, Emirates have just increased its order to 90. If its so bad why are the world's leading quality airlines ordering it? SIA and MAS and Qatar have.
@sthill1993 it's not a bad airplane, its far from bad but what i'm trying to say is in my opinion boeing use technology a bit better than airbus, but to be hones i think the get ideas from each other! Boeing and Airbus are both extremely very good. virgin Atlantic have ordered 6 a380's and 15 Boeing 787 DREAMLINERS.
@guitarplayerforu I personally think Airbus have always had the edge in tech, look at what the A300 pioneered, a new wing, 2 man crew, wide bodied but twin engined, and this is a winning formula! Where are you from anyway?

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Wy do we want to imagine that ocean animals can fly in the sky, especially children?
(3) Why do we like to imagine and to image aeroplanes as ocean animals? (eg. 747= whale & 787 = dolphin)
(4) Why do we want to build an aeroplane looking like a penguin in the ocean?
(5) Why do we enjoy to image sea animals are flying at sea?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
