  • this is one of my favorite new order songs

  • 8 people had not enough vanity to keep them from insanity

  • keep the tunes coming boys hope the last album was just a hiccup, cos they,re the most consistent, underrated band of the last 30 years

  • holy shit. found this BY ACCIDENT!

  • Amazing band, cheers from Mexico!!!

  • i remeber this from XFM scotland. they were good days before i started to listen to rap and poppy shit

  • wot a quiff

  • time is tight....????? or am i just stating the obvious....brilliant song though

  • some sexy mod birds in there ;)

    love that organ sound

  • magnifique, quand viennent t ils en France ?

  • They just get better with time,Oasis,Roses, inspirals etc where are they.Burgess and co still going strong .

  • Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn are you Dancing

  • This sounds a lot like The Bluetones 'Never Going Nowhere'

  • Which came first - New Order Sirens call or this? both are good songs though.

  • to me this songs very Bunnymen...not New Order at all...

    anyway it' s stunning!

    Up the Charlatans!

  • They're just....UK. ENDOF.

  • quality for best part of 20 years

  • tis sweet but its waitin 4 the sirens call

  • that's fookin awesome!

  • SILENT FACE ALL DAY LONG

  • This is more a tribute to Booker T & the MG's Time is Tight especially the intro, but they are both tunes!

  • hahahah aquality filth ahahahah

  • How is this a tribute to New Order? it's clearly a tribute to Northern Soul

  • new order - your silent face !!

  • This does sound like a tribute to NO, not a ripoff. Just look up New Order - Your Silent Face

Even though NO have long become a tribute band to themselves

  • burgess looks like a feminine goth

  • fucking amazing live everytime!

  • musical f'kin genuises!!!!

  • Fkinhell....they spend all their life being accused of being Roses soundalikes (a touch but no more true), and Oasis (see history books)...then fk me they come out with fairly different uptemp rocked out stuff and it's all fkin New Order which is even wider off the mark...the charlies are, were, and always will be....the charlies!!

  • nicely FUCKING put!!!

screw the haters in the eye!

  • Pikeman07 Nice post man i salute you wish i could rank you up more than once..

  • spot on mate...i had the pleasure of listening to the whole album before it was released and it was mindblowing....top top album...

  • @pikeman07 some people just aint got a clue mate, if they want to look at the charlatans early influences look no further than a mod band from the 80's called 'the prisoners' tim burgess was mad on them and a regular at their gigs and martin blunt was in a mod band called 'makin time' well before the roses came around and especially oasis, the charlatans have their own sound and always have done, great band and still got it big time

  • @pikeman07

Good response and correct, they never ever sounded like any of those bands. In life, you hear people spout pish. Fuck it. The Charlatans were/are a fantastic band. Love them.

  • it sounds like new order

  • tim burgess's vocal in particular and the keys. KRAFTY is the track that comes to mind

  • tell me if I'm wrong but do I detect a slight Horrors influence here? well really in the keyboard

  • Any song with a bit of Booker T does it for me!! Brilliant track....of all the baggy retro stones-influenced bands to emerge in the 90s this lot were and still are the best :)

  • Check out THIRD CONNECTION.Let us know wat u think of our song simple things.Cheerz!

  • just the way music should sound! f*cking amazing! enough said!

  • Sounds a lot like New Order - Waiting For The Sirens' Call.

Still a cracking tune anyway and I like the video too.

Seen the Charlatans in Glasgow Garage (then the Mayfair) in 1990. The next night, we seen The Roses at Glasgow Green.

    Now that was a weekend!

  • Fabulous song and fabulous video. Great vocals by Tim Burgess and just a beautiful feel to the whole number. The band and the dancers are great. Mellow, gentle feel to the whole production:)

  • savage tune

  • Really is the best song/video the band have done...love the fact that Tim and Michelle got all their friends in as extras

Issie, Rosie, Harriet, Finn, Dan Devine, Peaches, Dan Wilson,Tommi, Coffin Joe, Joshua Third.

soooooooo good mybe the lyric should have been when Peaches gave her hand to me instead of when Paris gave her hand to me ...just a thought ;-)))))

  • you missed Tommi x

  • peaches is the tops what is wrong with you all...

  • song is great, but ugly geldof ruins the video.

  • i cant find peaches on the video! lol in which part is she featured? x

  • Right good tune, Charlatans rule.

  • It does sound like it could be a New Order tune. I'm sure the tune is nicked. It sounds like a tune they used to play at the end of the night at The Ritz night club in Manchester. Also Curzon Ashton FC come out to this tune.

  • great song props to the charlatans.......very new order but tim is also a fan

  • The whole record is heavily influenced by New Order, still the tunes are great. And that can never be bad.

  • I love how Tim just got a bunch of his friends to be in the video. So far I've identified... peaches, harry, issie, vanessa, rosie, tommi, harriet (maybe?), and if I'm not mistaken joe dancing on the stage near the end. Music and friendship, great combination. xx

  • who??

  • G.I.M.P.

  • Gustavo - Espero que os guste este ... creo que es su mejor canción.

  • you´re OK, Kim. For a moment I thought he could be the successor to Mc. Sorry if I am wrong. Greetings!!

  • LOL! Él parece estar tratando de emular a Ian McCulloch! Nadie puede ser como Ian porque es una de las especies ... como eres, Gustavo!

  • Yeah! .... por eso dijé: "For a moment I thought".

    Buen comentario, iwantian! one hug!

  • tommi is so cute in this vid. also harry and issie.

  • I love this track, and i also love Vanity by Mystique GP and Willi Williams, the reggae song is hot in my home town too.

  • I love the song, don't get me wrong, but it's like Waiting for the Siren's Call Part 2. I wish it had more than just a few organ chords to make it sound like the Charlatans rather than New Order.

  • what a tune fuckin amazing live aswell.

    charlatans u.k come on

  • ん? New Order?

  • saw them on sat....fuckin awesome!!!!

  • Why do i think about I am the resurrection by stone roses while listening to this? could it be the drum line? :D and no I AM NOT SAYING THIS SONG IS A RIPP OFF coz it's not. this is a great song an so is IATR. i just found it funny that there is same drum line and i dunno if someone else has noticed it

  • its a northern soul drum riff wich i think is quite cool to use. i think trying to compare the charlatans to an old baggy group that only had 2 studio albums is gettin a bit tired now

  • charlatans were part of the whole baggy scene really and they just carried on and the old baggy chug a chug drum rythems were very popular with these groups.

  • yeah were part of the baggy scene but that died on its arse. each and every one of there albums are different cant say that any other band does that.cuk forever

  • what is this supposed to mean?? if you say baggy is dead you are wrong my friend.

  • charlatans were dragged into that baggy scene, a scene that didnt last. show me some baggy thats not dead

  • Nice tune!

But why oh why did they feel the need to rake in Geldof's sprog?

  • i think it's the best ever charlatans song.

i found it a tribute to new order, but more to tony wilson...

douglas hart does very good videos.

i can't stand peaches geldof. and her dad is even worst. fucking suine!

  • you bunch of plebs

  • just enjoy the fckn music, really their is no one left that is original and it is not a bad thing, get a hot girl and dance to this for fck sake I hate when people get bent over music that is not totally original everybody is influenced by someone else

  • Aw this is kinda sweet and nostalgic. I don't care if it is derivative, it is the Charlatans after all...

  • everybody steals you say this is why glasvegas and first album arctic monkeys stand out as true artists in a depressing sea of mediocrity we should all raise the bar of acceptance and ignore the cack

  • I agree, no harm in making covers but blatant rip offs passed off as originals just shows the lack of integrity and sours the whole music industry. Write something original and at least you will HAVE the integrity behind you even if you do sing like a nervous karaoke performer.

Just my opinion doubt it'll count much around here, thought I would try them out as they got good rep but not for me.

  • needs more than one listen all the best music does. and it influences not a rip off

  • Everybody steals...just check out Oasis. lol

Well...I see them in a few hours and will dance to this...:)

  • the most aptley named band on the planet if this band ever had an original idea they wouldnt know what to dowith it this song not only steals from new order but also time is tight by booker t check it out if you think i jest

  • Y digo yo.. qué tienen que ver aquí Los Planetas?

  • Interesting. Sounds very Interpol when it starts.

    I love The Charlatans <3

  • well said chippy.

this is a tune and a half.

    top live aswell

  • search on youtube los planetas- cumpleaños total

  • Their new album is very new order, which is a great thing. they aren't ripping anything off and it works fantastically :D x

  • just read the posts, and i like justhammers but StyleSessions... well, lives a bit up to her name (what is a 'bellend'?).

i couldn't comment on this being a rip-off as i don't remember Krafty anymore, though liked it at the time it came out.

The Charlatans can rip-off whoever and whatever for all i care, they usually sound ace and that's what counts.

  • this tune is awesome, i love this band, gonna see them at T in the park for the 3rd time!! "mis-takes" is the best song on the new album!

  • this is a good tune and if all u twats have fuck to do but compare songs from the past then fuck off, if only bands like the kooks or enemy come up up wit tunes like this then fuck up, charlatans will still b around in 10 years when all these new bands r gone and i bet bet new order are proud to be compared to there fellow mancunians, go on utd

  • Who Gives a F%^^ who rips off who having seen all thse bands you talk about & both of them both kick ass bands..i dont care if the charlatans rip of any riffs of any band..the point is this is a F^^& kick ass song..its not like Oasis never did it?...why dont people just enjoy the song for what it is..a nice little funky indie pop song thats make me wanna go get drunk and jump about lol..bands rip of other ands all the time thats life deal with it..

  • get that tit Geldof out of it!!

  • new order is over!!! the charlatans are the future!!!!!!

  • New Order Rip Off!!!! LOL What are you talking about....since when do New Order use a hammond organ? New Order aren't in the same league as the Charlatans anyway....Mind you thats not to say I don't like them both....

  • you can play the same notes with different instruments you twat.

Listen to Waiting for the Sirens Call you bellend, listen CAREFULLY and then tell me it aint a rip off.

    Then fuck off.

  • There is a big difference between ripping another band off and having an influence. The Charlatans have been around for 20 years and to suggest they rip off other bands is naive. No need to be abusive because it shows that you have a limited vocabulary. Now get back to your class.

  • Well New Order have been around for 30 years you idiot.

Plus so what if the Charlatans have been around that long?? To say they would not rip off other bands because of that reason is the naive statement.

As for the song rip off, its the opinion of many. The opinion is not naive, it is fact, you absolute halfwit.

I like the Charlatans old stuff, but recently they are really living up to their name.

  • What a total prick you really are.....People are entitled to have an opinion and yes I do think there are similarities between this song and New Orders.... but you are adamant that they ripped it off and thats simply not 100% true....now piss off and go and annoy someone else twat....Even my vocabulary becomes limited when dealing with idiots like you.

  • ok you admit the similarities, which basically means you just took the time to actually listen to the New Order track, instead of making bullshit statements with no foundation.

Look at yer fuckin profile, you like the Charlatans and Inspirals, thats it. Now I hate to generalise but that automatically makes you a complete bellend.

Thanks for admitting I was right, now be a good little boy and when you hear this on the radio be sure to tell people what a rip off it is.

    ....... = bad diction.

  • Life is about opinions not just yours so get over it or go and live in Zimbabwe or Cuba where only one opinion counts. As for my music taste...I happen to like The Cult, The Who, Kings of Leon, Paul Weller and many more....I just don't spend my time updating youtube because I have a life unlike you. You'll be telling everyone "the only one I know" is copy of Chesney Hawkes "I am the one and only" next......what a prick you are.....

  • style sessions your a cunt and i hope you perish, long live the charlatans

  • I couldn't agree more....Stylesessions is a complete twat. The Charlatans are a top band and have written many outstanding original songs and for him to say they have ripped off a another band is laughable.

  • aye i second that!!!!!!!!!

  • I like both New Order and the Charlatans, and i have to say that this does sound a lot like Krafty off Waiting for the Sirens Call

  • I like this song quite a bit and although it DOES sound a lot like "Waiting for the Siren's Call", I wouldn't call it a ripoff. Tim Burgess have said many times that New Order is his favourite band so it's normal to be influenced by those you look up to.

New Order aren't in the same league as the Charlatans?!? Yes that's right, New Order is way above The Charlatans.

  • I totally respect Tim Burgess for coming and saying the new album was indeed heavily influenced by New Order.

I like it because The Charlies have put enough of their own stamp on it to make it their own.

  • fuckin new order RIP OFF

  • it's like a drug, it's like a drug! :))) happy you made it... top 2008

  • Cracking New Order tune.

It's who? Only kidding, still nice lads.

  • Charlatans still ROCK.

  • Waiting for the Sirens Call part 2...Its a sign of getting old when you remember the original (though it was only a couple of years ago, those bloody Cheeky Charlatans)...still it beats Reggae Timothy!!)

  • good song but whats that talentless parasite peaches geldoff doing in the video!

  • Plain and simple irony - it probably went over her head too when she was asked to appear in the video!

  • What does this ship bring to me....

  • Charlatans kicking it old school.

Oh Vanity & misbegotten- best tunes since Tellin' stories.

  • Yes, this album is saturated in New Orderness... especially the track Mis-Takes... but it is still The Charlatans...and they sure sound like they are having fun with it. They were never one to be afraid to wear their influences on their sleeve so brightly. They have been around long enough and worked hard enough to be worthy of doing so too.

  • yes, is new order's waiting for the sirens call!!!! But not so good!!!

  • listen to new order - waiting for the sirens call

complete rip off this song right here

    its good though lol

  • fuck new order the most underrated band in the world ever!!!!!!!!

  • burgess is the new god of rock and cock.

  • great to have ya back lads! its always a event when a new charlies single, album comes out. looking forward to 10th may in leicester.LIVE IT LIKE YA LOVE IT PLL.

  • Freaking Great stuff, Charlatans rock, listening to them since the early days and still loving it, the only thing that would top listening to the Charlatans is watching them live, jejeje..

  • Love that they've never sold out their sound...long live the Charlatans!

  • Very cool song! I've loved the lads since their first songs back in the late 1980s.

  • where is peaches on the video?

  • These guys are SOOOOOO consistent with quality. Love it. A real band still exists. We should all feel lucky to have tuned in to them in their earlier days, cause now people are listening to NICKELBACK - haha!!!!

  • Aww, but I like Nickelback! Can't I like both?

    *stampsfeetandsticksoutbottomlip*

  • I disagree to an extent. Their last album was below average at best.

I thought Alan Mcgee was on smack when he said "You Cross My Path the best thing they've done since Tellin' Stories" (or words to that effect).

Now I've heard the album, I see where he's coming from. It is an absolute barnstormer of a record. For free as well. Stunning stuff.

  • a think people forget how underrated wonderland is.

  • It's a good record (gotta dig that Northwich flasetto :-) ).

You Cross my Path however is invariably superior in my humble opinion. Dare I say it, I think it may actually be the best thing they've ever done.

  • lol like the Northwich falsetto bit. the new album is a grower in typical charlie fashion, but its still got afew laps togo before it catches up with charlatans-between10th&11th-wonderland but we'll see. enjoy:>

  • great song, great video!

  • New Album is brilliant-free from X-Fm website!! xxx

  • The new album is really Fan-tas-tic!! Enjoy them!!

  • Cant wait to see them live again on you cross my path tour.

  • top quality as usual from the lads

  • The Charlatans, one of my most listened to bands =}

  • after hearing the new album, the whole bloody album sounds like new order, which isnt a bad thing really, you can download the whole album from thier site,it is quite good.

  • absolute quality

  • I've just read in the paper that he wrote this after meeting paris hilton, if that,s the case why isn't it titled "squint eyed talentless fuckin hoor".

  • hmmm, tim, you dance like a pro..

a bit of new order tunes, but i love this new single..

    cheers,,

  • new order came into my mind first time i heard it,also a bit of sproston green, and an old nothern soul stomp.

  • new order came into my mind first time i heard it,also a bit of sproston green, and an old nothern soul stomp.

  • its actualy new order waiting for sirens call, the song on their latest album,

  • Still wearing the best fringe in rock...Mr Burgess we salute you! Tunes like this and "Cross My Path" say to me that this band are enjoying themselves and are writing tunes to be played out live rather than experimenting and there ain't nothing wrong with that. Alan McGee should be applauded for how he is reshaping this band out there in the marketplace. He's finally got the band he always wanted. Let's hope he doesn't stuff it up like he did with that great lost band Adorable.

  • This tune is fucking awsome. Why has it took them this long to get back to what they do best, loads of top kick arse HAMMOND.

  • ace song but why have that doughnut Peaches Geldof in the video?

  • an awesome song from a great band:)

  • what the fuck are you talkin about these guys were amazing but what the fuck is this average throwaway piece of shit!!!!

just like oasis, time to throw it away boys!

don't turn into the rolling stones!

sorry but someone has to say it!!!!!

  • brilliant song and groovy video ... bring on the free download album ... love the songs heard so far especially BAD DAYS and THIS IS THE END

  • The best band in the world from Charlatanswolves. FACT!

Well done lads, this new music is addictive.

  • what an amazing song!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait to hear it full blast!!

  • best band in the world - FACT!!

  • sounds like a cover of New Order's "your silent face".

  • This sounds much more like New Order's "Waiting For The Sirens' Call".

  • then again New Order have been recycling their old songs on their last few albums.

looks like the Charlatans have joined in.

FWIW Oh Vanity uses the same chords and melody as "Your silent face".

  • correct very similar

  • god knows how many years on and Charlatans are still top class, Oasis take note!

  • great song

  • Absolute class. can't wait for the free download.

  • woohoo i'm the first to view. Quality :)
