@Msjanedoe124 Bad enough to be raped but the humiliation of having to prove it occurred before strangers in a court and the media is daunting. Each individual must decide what is in her own best interests. To come forward or to remain silent. I respect either choice with all my being and with sadness. And I admire both, those that face public scrutiny and those that must heal their wounds alone. A painful decision either way. But I uphold that those who lie must face punishment.

I don't know to be honest but I like to think that women of today, who are in fact raped or sexually assaulted, have enough confidence to come forward, not out of revenge but that the perpetrator be duly punished and to "save" some other poor unfortunate suffering the same ordeal

When it was clear that the P was lying about rape, Judge Pirro should have dismissed the case. I have seen a couple of cases on peoples court and on jj where the man was put in jail for over 6 years each and then they admitted that they lied when suing the guys again after they had been in jail!

When women claim rape and it is proved unfounded there should be a mandatory prison sentence of 1year. And I say that as a woman because she puts decent women to shame. Accusations like that cause untold misery, at times wasting police and court time, and make it an uphill struggle for genuine rape victims to be believed. Shame on her indeed.

@soxbox1 At least in this case, her lie was exposed immediately. For those men who are not immediately cleared (as this one was), the long-term impact could be terrible. The man is this case is something of a jerk, IMO, but he doesn't deserve to be accused of something he definitely did not do.

@absue There was a case in England of a young woman accusing a boy of raping her to "get back" at her boyfriend, with whom she had argued that same night. She stuck to her story for months. I'll never forget it because the young man she accused committed suicide due to the strain of public condemnation heaped upon not only himself but his immediate family. Such a terrible thing and all for nothing! Had she done that to one of my sons I would have wanted to rip her apart with my bare hands

@soxbox1 One of our local teachers was accused of sexual touching by three teenage girls. They recanted after he'd spent two years in jail. They had been angry because this teacher had given them low marks on a test, and he had refused to raise the marks on their request; they retaliated by accusing him of sexual touching. His career as a teacher is over. He's been working as a gas station attendant.

@absue If he'd lived in a decent country, like America, he wouldn't need to be working at a gas station. If he spent two years in jail for something he didn't do, he should be compensated. In Australia, one year's false imprisonment equals $500,000 (which isn't nearly enough, but is better than nothing). So, if America weren't an amoral piece of shit of a country, that teacher would have a million dollars, and he could've sued for more from the retarded judge who sentenced him and the accusers.

@nicoleb The judge was faced with four credible witnesses whose stories were impossible to shake or break, and one young male teacher who admitted he'd been in the classroom alone with each student at the time of the alleged sexual touching. The police investigation confirmed that he'd been alone with each accuser at the time of the alleged incidents. If you'd been the judge, what would you have done?

@nicoleb Sexual touching does not involve intercourse. There would be no DNA, just the word of four convincing girls and a teacher who admits being alone with the girls at the time of the alleged incidents.

@absue In that case, judges should be very careful about whom they believe. And that aside, why wasn't the man compensated for false imprisonment? Is America too fucked up to give people money when their freedom is taken away? That man shouldn't be working at a gas-station; he should be in a mansion. And the girls who lied should be in jail.

@nicoleb The man did receive compensation, but at his request there was very little publicity about it. The girls, being minor children at the time of the incident, cannot be identified for the public, nor can any judgements concerning them be publicized. I disagree with this, but that's the law here.
As for him working, he is young and healthy and wants to work. While he'd rather be teaching in a school, he'd rather work in a gas station than sit around doing nothing.

Added to which the whole "family" suffers along with the accused. It's outrageous to fabricate such a heinous crime and those that do should be severely punished with jail time

@soxbox1 no i disagree, many a times women have been legit raped and have taken it to the highest courts etc, however for whatever reasons they still lose. Not every legit rape claim is successful in court. They're have been cases where women have been accused of putting out etc, I have seen women being completly anilated in the courtroom even though they are not the person in the wrong all because the man has money and can afford a top notch lawyers...

@rxqueen923 What's stupid about it? Women can accuse men of rape and send them to jail. The accusation is enough to attain a conviction and sentencing for life. It does not matter if the male is innocent, or in the hospital, or in jail, or getting samples on the moon for NASA. A woman's accusation is all the evidence a court and the courts of public needs to convict the male.
