Do I Need a Root Canal? : Crown Replacement After Root Canal

I have a bubble when i lift up my lip that is red and its from trauma to my front tooth, but i knocked that tooth out 2 and a half years ago and buble didnt show up and wasnt noticed for 6 visits. Now they say i need a root canal or ill lose the tooth. What should i do? Does the procedure for RC hurt?

I just had a root canal done today...the dentist advised getting a Crown put on the tooth. I had a root canal done 25 years ago on an upper molar and I never had a crown put on that tooth... and it is still fine today.

So I am really at a loss as to why they automatically think you must have a crown put on after a root canal. Teeth are very strong even after a root canal. I'm no dentist or doctor or whatever...just my thoughts

Does it hurt when the chemical is shot? To me, it tastes like ammonia.

a dentist once gave me a filling but drilled too far hitting the nerve.. let me suffer in pain for 3 months and never gave me a new appointment to correct his mess... i got a new dentist who felt sorry for me and gave me a free root canal, man it was the best day of my life! lol 3 years later my tooth is good as new though i never did get a crown on it... should i get one or no? the tooth is a pretty big molar on the bottom right side, 3rd from back. i still have my wisdom teeth.

@natesmom2244 i just got a root canal today. It is obviously costing me alot. But i am also getting a crown. My dentist said the crown is very important becz that makes sure ur tooth won't break in the future. The tooth is very weaker due to the cavity so he recommended it. And my tooth is also on the bottom right side

Looking back, I never needed a root canal. Jerry Cellura did one, left packing gauze in it for 15 years, it rotted my gums & almost killed me.

Please Dr. Chen; look at the necrotized tissue in the #30 socket & tell me if I'm a goner? They have not given me the right antibiotic to fight it.. Thanks..
