These are fresh and compelling poems in a contemporary poetry scene that is saturated with the likes of Billy Collins, Robert Pinsky et al. Many excellent poets lack access to the marketing machine that merchandises poetry en masse. Just because a poet makes it onto the shelves of mayor bookstore chains does not mean that their poetry is good. I have discovered better poetry by browsing small local bookshops and the Internet. I will do a web search to find more of Ana Elsner's poetry online.
