i was thinking about getting a mac becuase my hp laptop has kind of fallen apart due to it being made out of plastic. so i was wondering for those of you who have a mac, is it worth the extra money? what kind of problems or faults do macs have? or should i stick to a cheaper laptop but just try to take better care of it.
iWork is a brillant application if you are looking for something like Office. In my opinion, it has better layout features, and allows you to create much better looking layouts than office does. In my opinion...
For functionality go for Office.
For layout and design go for iWork
Seing as they are both cheap, and both compatible on mac. Get both! Then, becuase iWork can import Office files and vice versa, you can't lose! Just my opinion XD
red: similar to the Mighty Mouse there are pressure sensors on either side of the trackpad so if you do want right click its there. (Settings in System Preferences)
yes I doesn't come configured but I put 2 fingers on the trackpad and thats my right click. but you said to put your finger 2cm into the trackpad and click (I have a white mb)
yeah well I wish I could remember the start of this conversation but I forget (don't remind me) but yeah the MacBook's are great machines!!!! I love mine i'm typing on it right now!!!!!!! I really want to save up for the new one!!! but thats going to take a long time!!!! any way cya!!!
ithink it would be better to buy a refurbished LED cinema display and a new macbook. not sure if they sell refurbed displays but the aluminum one looks prettty sexy
Each haves their positives and negatives. For consumer/casual use, I find myself preferring my Macbook, but I do like that for less money you can get more features on PC's, and for work I prefer PC's a bit more.
i see what your saying, then why did you go for another macbook? im just wondering because i've saved up a bit and might buy a laptop. I just want someoneelses opinion
@shizbang782 it all depends on your personal preference and which os you find "better" than the other. Both apple os comps and microsoft os comps are good.
My battery cover is not loose. The only issue I've really experienced with all the problems I've been hearing about is the trackpad becoming unresponsive for a few seconds here and there. An annoyance, but nothing major, and I've read that it's more of a software issue than a hardware issue, so I'm waiting to see if they release an update.
soo i guess its normal if it gest a lil warm in teh back right?....jus wanted to know for a peace of mind...since i do have the option to exchange it, one more thing its kinda odd but the ones at teh store when you check the system profiler on the ram it says 2gigs 1066mhz DDR3, same on teh box, but mine says 1067mhz ddr3 on the system profiler but not on teh box..is that normal?...or do i have a different branded ram...jus curious....what does urz say?
ey..does ur new macbook get pritty warm wen using it for awhile?...cuz mine does...it has no air vents :/....im a new mac user btw...jus bught teh new aluminum macbook 3 days ago
So far it hasn't heated up hardly at all. Once or twice it heated up a little bit, but it doesn't get nearly as warm as the m1330. It does have air vents, though...look behind the screen hinge, you can see them in the back. How're you liking it so far?
its actually great..umm im a new mac user soo jus curious...sorta peranoid about certain things since i didnt purchace apple care but then again i do have a year of waranty, i hope this machine doesnt fail on me..i had the dell m1530 xps which was very powerful, use to get very warm but i got rid of it, i wanted to switch over to a mac, the new macbook is nice, i like using lepard though i need to get use to it since its soo different then vista, buh yeeh overall its a great system! =D urz?
Fair enough. I figured it was only put in once per box, and didn't know there were dedicated spots for it to be listed. I don't remember where it was on my ipods, not that it would be the same anyway.
Cool, I wasn't sure. I know on the MacBook Air the speaker is under the keyboard (the k,l keys I believe), but figured it was due to the size and packaging constraints. Regardless, the speakers are plenty loud, which is great.

"How do you right click"
You apply pressure to the area located approximately 2cm to the right of the left click button. This initiates a right click!
DickAddis 2 years ago
No it doesn't I don't know if this is a reply from somebody else's comment but I just tried it and it doesn't work
10011010111001 2 years ago
are you refering to the trackpad on the macbook or the mighty mouse? Because you can right click on both.
By the way, I dont think the track pad comes with right click configured. You can easily configure it in the trackpad settings.
You can conigure it to right click when you click the right, or left side the trackpad.
The new trackpads are awesome!
DickAddis 2 years ago

I didn't literally mean it like that.
The aluminum macbook allows right click, not sure about the white one though. They are both great machines, no doubt.

I want the following...
Aluminium Macbook 2.0ghz c2d 1066mhz fsb 2gb ddr3 sdram 1066mhz 160gb sata 5400rpm hdd nvidia geforce 9400m
24" led cinema display. 1920x1200 resolution looks great next to aluminum macbook!
only downside is, the monitor costs almost as much as a low spec macbook. :( gonna pick up a refurbished macbook.
Are they of good quality?
Dick.

ithink it would be better to buy a refurbished LED cinema display and a new macbook. not sure if they sell refurbed displays but the aluminum one looks prettty sexy
Paris2012olympics 2 years ago
Here in NZ it costs $1699.99 for a LED cinema display.
A refurbished macbook is about $1999.99. $300 difference isnt much at these prices.
DickAddis 2 years ago
A 24" woudnt sit on my desk anyway. Might wait until the 20" comes out. Seing as apple discontinued the old 20", it might not be too far away.
DickAddis 2 years ago
I might get the 20" iMac.
It only costs about $100 More than the Macbook. Has 2x storage, larger monitor, and much faster CPU. Also, ram is expandible to 8gb.
Only problem is portablity!
DickAddis 2 years ago
the new box is better than the old one
