As a Kentuckian with family roots that go through Rosine, Ohio County, all I can say upon viewing this clip is that I got goose bumps! Well done!! Y'all are definitely honorary Kentuckians!!! All the best!
British Bluegrass? I am from the great state of Georgia with very deep roots in Bluegrass and I must say, a job well done. If you boys ever find yourself in Georgia around July, i would love to have ya'll over for the local bluegrass festival we have down here.
I love this song and these guys does a really great job! My favourite is still "The new lost city ramblers" with a young Mike Seeger playing the "autoharp".
The mic setup is not normally that complicated, it was just for recording really.
Normally we use 1 Audio Technica 4033a large diaphragm mic for instruments and vocals and a bit routed through the desk to monitor maybe. We run a Shure SM57 at instrument level and this is routed through the monitor and front of house so some goes to top mic but most solos will go via the SM57. We chose this mic because we had one but I'm sure there are better ones out there. Choeography is the key also!
i would love an explanation of your live mic setup! it looks elaborate. i do sound for a few local bluegrass bands as well as my own, i would love to do it better and you guys sound awesome. you have the bass plugged in, and thats it right? all other instruments are off the condenser mics? i count 4 condensers, and no dynamics. where the hell do you put monitors? if any i guess?
@mbahnen ...Hey How are you? It's been a long time since Holland. It was a great experience and really good to meet you and your family. Hopefully see you sometime maybe next year over your way.
@gibson27deluxe Howdee mate ;-) Just doing fine!!! We keep good memories of your outdoor performance! Hope to meet again someday! In the meantime our daughter is really taking off with her fiddle! I am so damn produ of her! Cheers. Marcel
Did i say this was great? I think i did but what the hell here i go again: great playing lads!!! Must be from all the veggies and stuff you tend to cook... heheheheh! ;-)
Guys, this is just plain great! I'm pleased beyond all measure to see such great music spreading across the globe! Good work all the way around (loved the Dobro!). And Richmond, good bluegrass isn't about the accent or the age, it is ALL about the heart. These guys have got it!
Although I do like the movie version, this one was good too, the instrumentation was especially nice, Mandolin/Ukulele is especially an interesting addition.
@NickThunderbridge I hate bluegrass sir, and I would gladly take you up on that invitation XD well done! I would LOVE to see you gentlemen in concert. I do wonder if you fellas have written any originals?
