There are three things in clicker training, if I've understood correctly:

1. The Clicker: a click is more accurate than just saying 'good boy'. The click marks the instant the reward is deserved. Another accurate and non-common sound can be introduced too.

2. Positive reinforcement: the dog is trained by rewarding. You do not just give the reward to the animal, it must be deserved.

3. Shaping: The animal must discover itself how to get rewarded. What we expect it to learn at the moment is called criteria and we start with very small criteria and raise it when learned. It is like looking for a rough shape of something and then focusing on it.

Typical for clicker training is also splitting tricks into smaller parts, teaching them one by one and then merging them.

Clicker training can't be explained in a couple of sentences though its idea is quite simple.

...in kätzchen's fall ist es positiv aufgebaut, aber umso härter durchgesetzt. normalerweise wird das von anfang an mit starkzwang erlernt, aber kätzchen ist dafür viel zu sensibel und nachtragend (zumindest vor dem hintergrund dass es nicht jagdlich geführt wird, ich ihr im gegenzug also nicht die ultimative belohnung bieten kann). aber ich finde es ist mir ganz gut gelungen, man würd ihr nicht anmerken dass sie das NICHT freiwillig macht, oder?

Super! Ich werde meiner Ma mal Deine Videos zeigen, sie ist nämlich der Meinung, das ein Hund nur mit Druck zuverlässig arbeitet.

schöngruß an deine ma! und ich muss ihr leider recht geben, zumindest was vorstehhunde angeht. das hier ist spielerei, keine arbeit - großer unterschied! draussen würd kätzchen mir was husten! gegen den endorphinrausch allein beim geruch von wild ist jedes lecker der welt machtlos (biochemische tatsache!). wär unverantwortlich derart triebstarke hunde je von der leine zu lassen, könnt ich sie nicht auch noch aus einer hetze stoppen (mit "lieg")...
