@missrosie3990 Certain boxes will work without the remote you will just have to play with it and see. Depends on the make and model. Some have buttons on the front of it that you can change channels ect... Initial setup may be impossible though without a remote. I would just try it and see. If you can't get it to work you may have to buy a remote online or a universal one may work. It all depends again like I said about the make and model.
@uhavemooface If you are using rabbit ears with your tv, and you are getting channels then I assume your tv is a new tv with a digital tuner. The Converter box would bring in the same amount of channels that your tv is bringing in. The box is just a digital tuner for tvs that dosn't have a tuner. It won't bring in any more channels other than what is available in your area. It isn't any more powerful than your tv's tuner.
I don't have a converter box just the bunny ears and we have three or four channels or more with that. I am thinking I could get a lot more with the converter box.
@zOvarGaming There are a couple of reasons why you can't see anything... first of all check the power on your converter box itself.. some have a power switch to the side of them or on the back of them that you have to switch on and then you can also power them on and off by their remote. If you have power to the box make sure your rca connections between the box and the tv are connected properly and also make sure you are on the right input. Some tv's have more than one rca input. Hopethishelps
@asianpy168 are you using the dvd player in the same line with the converter box? Every dvd player is different, but certain ones will let you have an rca input. So in theory you could use the converter box through your dvd player but you would have to make sure your dvd player is on the right input just like your tv for you to be able to see it. But if you can only hear and don't have video you should make sure all your rca inputs are hooked up properly Let me know if this helps...
@t0xictreasure Are you seeing the menu from your digital converter box? If you aren't at least seeing that then you need to make sure you have your tv on either channel 3 or 4 or on the rca input channel depending on the way you hooked your box up. Let me know how you have it hooked up and I'll try and help some more
stupid question, please help i have a TV with VCR/DVD option.. my coaxial able on the back is broken. i wanted to know if i can use this box so i can use the component connection. i have yellow, red, white inputs... also i dont have ANTENNA, i have basic cable from comcast that just uses a coaxial able to get basic channels..
@redneckboy6983 I assume you are able to run the comcast to your vcr/dvd with the coaxial connection just fine. What your problem is that the coaxial cable from the vcr/dvd to your tv is broken. Then yes you can hook the vcr/dvd up using component out to your tv as long as your tv has component inputs. Just hook the cable to your vcr/dvd player and then hook the vcr/dvd player up to your tv using component cables and then turn your tv to the component input and you should be fine!
sorry i must have not been clear. its an all-in-one TV/VCR/DVD combo.. has coxial on the back thats broken... and on the front of the TV, composite inputs. yellow, red and white..i wanted to use the converted box, on the back of box where it says antenna, plug in my cable line, which are basic cables, the plug the composite cables to the front of the tv and see my basic Tv.
@redneckboy6983 No that won't work the Digital Converter Box only allows for digital antenna signals to pass through, not cable signals. There are some models of the DTV box that allows analog antenna channels to pass through but I have never tried to pass analog cable channels through one. Your best bet would be to ask for a cable box from your cable company. Or if you didn't want to pay for that. Then find an old analog vcr and use it as I explained before.
If you don't have an antenna then you probably aren't going to be able to receive any signal unless you are really close to your broadcast stations. In my TV area we are about 45 miles away from our fox and cbs stations and alot of people have had to buy new bigger Rabbit Ears or put up an outside antenna to keep receiving CBS and Fox. It all just depends on how close you live to your broadcast stations. Digital TV has a shorter signal wave and thus doesn't travel as far as analog.
To keep your DVD player hooked up you may want to get a basic RF switch and put it in line before going to your TV. It would mean having to push a switch before you could watch your dvd player or your TV but if your watching a DVD you have to get up to put the disc in anyways.... That seems like the logical choice if you want to keep both hooked up and not having to keep unhooking one or the other to watch a DVD or TV.
The plug that plug into the back of the tv (black one) is too short that I had to go find a longer cord for it to go around the big tv.
Is there anyway to use the volume on the remote because I can't find the remote button on it and is there anyway to setup the converter box so it will turn the tv have as well?
My sister has a different brand and it allows you to control the volume (not from the tv but from the convertor box) and turn the tv off at the same time.
On the particular model shown in my video you cannot control the volume or turn the tv off with the DTV remote. Some models do allow for that. I don't know what kind of model of box that you have so I couldn't tell you if it can control your TV's sound and power. You would just have to check your owners manual to see if it allows those functions and if it allows them how to program your remote to run such functions.
It won't give you any more channels, your only going to be able to receive what your are getting with your antenna right now. Sounds like you have it hooked up like you want it with the sound going to your stereo.... if you had the yellow running to your tv you might get a slightly clearer picture than using coaxial but probably not a big enough difference to mess with it. I think your are good to go for DTV! :)
i use the red and white from the back of the dtv converter box to my stereo and it brings volume out sort of like a surround sound affect, if i purchase a red, white and yellow and plug it in the way you showed will it give me more channels/clearer picture, i already have an antenna?...
Red and White carries your two audio channels so if you are using the coaxial for video then its okay.... but if your just using the red and white you may not be able to get video or a picture on your TV
It brings Standard Definition and High Definition Digital Channels to a standard definition television. What the box actually does is down convert a digital signal back to a normal analog signal. So you won't be getting an actually true high definition picture on a standard def tv, but a much better clear picture... I hope that clears things up and not just more confusion...

I have another question.
Why does it should a lock icon on the tv screen when the Parental control isn't on?
Even if the parental control is off, it still display that icon and I still can the shows.
XohshitztonysbackX 2 years ago
I really don't know why it would show a lock on the screen. I haven't had that problem.

MESSAGE 1 OF 2
Just hooked up converter box & digital stations are working fine. But there is another problem:
Last year, I had to purchase an RF modulator so that my analog TV would work with my DVD player.
bw7x7 2 years ago
what if you have no antena?
PlyKraze 2 years ago
What you probably need to do is just rescan for channels, that way it will re program everything you are getting and save it for you.
jrgbubba 2 years ago
how do u rescan for channels???
pls help me
cookieliker 2 years ago
Each box has a different set up menu, so you will need to look in your owners manual to tell you how to rescan
jrgbubba 2 years ago
I almost had it hooked up but made a mistake in programming. How do you get the converter box to start over from scratch, deprogram it?
