Loosing John Henry was like loosing a family member. I never met him, but I loved the cantankerous old rascal. Horse of the year 3 times. RIP, all you great horses.

IM REALLY SORRY. =) We have lots have gaited horses. Rocky Mt, and sport horse. ..which dont make sence to also have quater horse, paints, piontos, ponys, and even minis. =D Im fimialr with alot of different breeds.

I waatched the '06 Derby and Barbaro stole my heart when i came home and my mom told me he died i cryed=( and I was watching the tv when George Washington broke down and was put down on track i nthe classic I was also watching with Eight Belles I was rooting for her to win=(

All their deaths were sad, but I think Barbaro's hit me(should say a lot of people) the hardest cause he fought so long, never gave up. He gave a sense of renewed hope.

@horsefan2007 Hello, I owned the great Baron de Vaux that outran Unbridled in the 1990 Belmont, He dided this July 2010 You did such a good job on this tribute, If you ever do another one I would love to have Baron de Vaux included as he earne $884,375.00 and was 100% class his whole life. He was 23 when he died this July. Thanks Terry

actually, all race horses become a year older as of January 1st, so if Barbaro hadn't broken down in the 2006 Preakness Stakes, he would've been 7. the foaling date of a race horse isn't their actual birthday.

No! Trust me, I ride standardbreds but I still know a ton on thoroughbreds. Thoroughbreds are all considered to be born on January 1st, actually. That may be his real birthday, but in the racing world, he was 4.

All race horses turn older on like January 1 of each year no matter when they were actually born. u could have a thoroughbred foal on the 31 of december and it would officially be 1 the next day

No, Mineshaft is a leading sire. He/she meant the mare died giving birth to a foal sired by Mineshaft.

They didn't put Street Sense to sleep. The tributes are to his racing career. He is now out to stud and was retired. Thank God. I hate to hear when horses are put to sleep.
