I've never been to South Texas but think the deal is that it's overrun with trophy buck "ranches" and that every buck out there has a price, especially tens like that one. It's bullshit either way though, totally ruins the experience of deer hunting. Nice ass buck though, shouldve been taken with an arrow.

He was supposted to shoot a cull buck. The deer he shot was a management buck they used to breed. Cull bucks are bucks that the management dosen't want to breed and make more i guess, inferior bucks.
