  • good video

  • Thank you. I wanted to see how involved the install was.

  • this remove stand is 4 iMac 21,5 too? thankz

  • yo, can you put back the mounting arm

  • Do you have problems holding up a 24" Apple Cinema Display on the Ergotron LX? The LX specs say it can only hold up to 20lbs, but the 24" Cinema Display is about 21lbs.

  • @stanford202 Because the display is so heavy it has doesn't move as freely as it would with a lighter display, but it will hold it because the stand weight was built into the weight of the display.

  • @LastStopReviews Great thanks! I didn't think about subtracting out the weight of the stand.

  • I'd like to use a Mac Cinema Display as my plasma TV, do you think it is worth? Does it work as any other plasma TV or do I need to find another device that lets me use it as TV? Like EyeCat maybe...?

  • @ManuelRochaCR It's really not worth it. Put the $1,000 you'll spend on the Cinema Display and get a 1080p 46" Panasonic or Sony.

  • Great video, thank you. Do you have any idea if there is a VESA mount for the 21.5 (new) iMac? I have been trying to find one but every place says it works with the display, the 24' and the 27'. Thanks again!

  • I have a question, is this earthquake safe? I mean the rattling ones you feel but won't bring down the house?

  • where did you get your desk and how much did you pay for it?

  • Is it possible to put the stand back on after? Mine seems to be locked and won't return back inside.

  • Is it safe to assume the process shown on this VERY helpful video would be the same for a new 27" iMac? Also, I've read a few reviews where the part with the holes snaps back into the iMac, itself and is nearly impossible to retrieve. Is it because that piece was not "clicked" open?

  • Is it safe to assume the process shown on this VERY helpful video would be the same for a new 27" iMac?

  • It wud be funny when he was like " and as u can see guys it moves really freely",

He starts turning it and it falls of and breaks,......................... he starts crying! XD!

  • hey again. ummm...... do you know if the new apple tv works on the LED cinema display?

  • @alexxjones1 No it doesn't. The apple tv had an hdmi out and this only accepts mini displayport. You maybe be able to find an adapter

  • hey dude will any wall bracket fit it or do you need a certen 1?

need 2 now cause i'm getting a LED screen sometime when apple send it 2 me

  • @alexxjones1 You will need the apple specified VESA mount, but then any wall mount with the 100mm x 100mm pattern will work.

  • excellent info ;) I plan to get this display for my studio

  • LSR, just a question, can you rotate the 24 ACD to portrait mode? I'm about to hit the buy button but I can't seem to find info about it anywhere. TIA

  • @adryanv sorry for the delayed response, but yes, with a mount you can use the display vertically.

  • @LastStopReviews . Thats great to know! Thank you!

  • brilliant.

  • Thanks for the video - it helped me know what to expect before buying my VESA mount.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. Very helpful! I plan to do something like this sometime in the future!

  • that was great, thanks!

  • I have a white 17" Intel iMac and I was wondering if this will work on it.

  • @seinfeldfan7898 sorry for the late reply, but this won't work for the 17" prev gen iMacs. This is a good video for that tutorial though: Apple 23" Cinema Display + VESA Mount Adaptor + Ergotron Arm Hope this helps man.

  • Dude...this video was incredibly helpful. Thanks for doing it. I just could not find anywhere on Apple's website that laid out how to do this and the little trick with the credit card at the beginning was exactly what I needed. Thanks again.

  • it's so cool 

  • @zantoshi  :)

  • Thank you for posting this easy to follow video! I just had one question, can let me know which VESA mount adapter you used? I bought one, but it seems to be the wrong kind and doesn't include the flange that you used right before putting on the adapter. Thanks!

  • _the tool provided has worn when removing the screws. Anyone know the size of TORX screwdriver required or do you require a special apple/VESA tool?

  • @sunil355 I believe it is a T10

  • an i actually mount it to a wall like a tv?

  • @TheLegomaniac25 yes, you'll just want to buy a wall mount instead than a desk mount.

  • hello um does that Ergotron hold the cinema display properly because i looked it up and it says the maximum load is 9.1 kg and the cinema display is 9.5 kg

  • @iMaxGTV1 yes and no. You do have to tighten the ergoton to the fullest, but yes it will hold it. It really pushed it to it's limit though.

  • @iMaxGTV1

The display is a tiny bit lighter without the stand.

  • thx for the video!

and I know you answered this partly already, but does the display and arm perform perfectly or is the weight limit kinda limiting the arms use as it is so close?

  • I have a question: The little piece, where the screws are placed in didn't stay up when I tried to do this. Do you have any solutions or ideas to get this piece up again?

  • Thank you for a very helpful video - nicely done! bkelly

  • y does mac led cinema cost so much when u could just by the whole imac and crap for like 300 more

  • hey nice video. i just got a VESA adapter for my cinema display but i did not get the piece in between the display and the VESA mount. The part that screws in with the 8 screws and has the hole at the top. How did you get yours?

  • @DieHohenBerge call who ever you bought it from, that square piece has to be there for the VESA mount to work.

  • Can I mount the new iMac 27 Using Vesa Mount on the wall instead of mounting it on a desk?

  • Is it hard to put it back on the standard foot again?

  • No it's actually easier putting the stand back off because the screws are already exposed.

  • Did you mean back on?

  • apple cinnamon display

  • imagine if he forgot the main screw

    bam.......... $999 gone

  • $999?

  • Does this only work with the Cinematic Display? Or can I use it with my 2008 iMac?

  • thx for the video man

i want to see the ergotron mx !!!

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE IT. THX i'M GETTING AN iMAC CORE I5 FOR CHRISTMAS THIS, AFTER SPYING AROUND ON MY DAD :) OH! MEANT SANTA... SO ANY WAY, WAS THINKING AND RESEARCHING AROUND TO POSSIBLY MOUNT THIS iMAC ON MY BR.

LOOKS SIMPLE AND I GUESS IT SHOULD BE THE SAME THING FOR THE iMAC JUST LIKE WITH THE CINEMA DISPLAY.

  • Thanks for the video :) Very informative!

  • Nick.. I just found this video watching Tom's review of the 5G he won...I am going to be buying the new 27 " imac and an additional 24" cinema display soon.. this is exactly what I think I need to help them math up.. Great job man.. Keep it up!!

  • Hey man, i was look ing to the same kind of arm that you got for your LED Cinema Display, and I was wondering if you could send me a link of where to buy it and which one to get. I appreciate your help in this manner!

  • What is the height of the display once the stand has been removed? I'm looking to squeeze one of these into a tight spot, using a VESA wall or desk mount. It'll be too tall with the included stand. Thanks!

  • the stand is adjustable, i believe up to approx 18". I don't have it set up at the moment so I don't have a 100% positive answer. I put the product site link into the comment box though where you can find all the info you want and more.

  • Thanks. I actually just got my answer elsewhere (via someone's physical measurement). The height of the display itself is 15.125". The stand adds another (roughly) 3.5". Apple's specs only list the specs of the entire unit (top of display to bottom of attached stand).

This video was excellent in preparation for using the VESA mount - thank you very much for posting it.

  • does the cinema mount works with a basic wall mount or does it only work with arms?

  • It will work with any type of mount, as long as it follows the VESA standard, which 99% of mounts on the market do.

  • speechless

  • Wow expensive desk mount. I got a new double display desk mount on ebay for around $60, can't remember the brand. Mine doesn't swivel freely through.

  • hey u think 13 inch macbook with 24 inch will work fine for me cause i want to make songs on logic studio and make youtube videos like ijustine and everyone , what u think? oo and some sims 3 games

  • don't even see why the display would factor into making videos and especially songs, if you have to ask if your computer will work for logic studio you are clearly not ready for that caliber of application. start small use garageband

  • That's what I'm doing!

  • you got money sick setup

  • you have so much of apple gadgets....can i have one?... please...

  • MG-so can pretty much look from anywhere in the room. Thats cool.

  • MG- ur the man

  • okey thanks!

  • Does it work with iMac 24"

  • Yes and no, it will technically work, but the weight can become an issue. The ergotron LX is only rated for 20 lbs. and the iMAc is 26lbs. The ACD is actually 21lb, so you can use it for an iMac, but i personally wouldn't suggest it.

There are heavy duty mounting arms though that'll hold up to 30.

  • Great walkthrough!

Do you know if there is a fan in there as it sounds like there is with mine. Some kind of whirring.

  • but won't the vesa mount block the air vent? or is it just a speaker vent.

  • speaker vent is at the bottom, as for the air vent, i dont know, presumably at the bottom too.

  • ya, this is the 1st i've ever seen a 24" iMac and cinema display next to each other. gong out to buy 1 tomorrow

  • Thanks for the video.
