I use sonar 8 and have a HP Pavillion with a dual core 2.4G processor and 2MB ram. Everything works fine until you have over 20 tracks with plug-ins. What really saps my computer is when I use the V-vocal editing program. It will shut down sonar in a heartbeat. I'm going to upgrade to 4MB ram and see if it helps, if not, I may be upgrading computers.
However, I have a problem: I have a Mac with BootCamp and I've heard that Sonar 8.5 doesn't work too well with it. Am wrong or should I invest in something reliable?
you never used fl studio, right? There are even one click options for odd timing included and many manual ways, too. (just try upper left of the piano roll for example <.<)
I tried Sonar and FL-studio. Sonar is realy good, but I like the layout of fruity much more.
I think for those two programs the only real diffrence is the layout^^. If you like the sonar layout more, use it and the other way around :)
i have and use fl studio......you can play 12/8 15/16 7/8 3/4 etc? if so tell me how please....i like experimenting with progressive rock/metal and various other styles...please tell me how
Piano roll, zoom as much as possible and then combine snap to grid things. For example 1/6step + 1/6 beat or sth :) On the other hand there are many pluginbs like EZdrummer which can do that, too :) And I think there was an normal one click option somewhere, too.
But as I normaly use the quantize option to make the notes more humanlike I don't need it. On top of that I record most of my things so I don't even need the piano roll ;)
It's not the tools, it's the carpenter.

Neil Borthwick is their chief "techical" officer. Too bad they don't have a chief spelling officer.
