I am from St.Bernard Parish. My family and I stayed for Katrina. When we were rescued from the roof we were forced to leave our animals in the attic of a stranger with there wolf hybrid. And we were never brought back to get them. We were shipped away... And never to see them again 5 years later still no sign. Of course, no one is suggesting that whoever was in that white truck didn't also shoot dogs. A trial would have answered your questions--but clearly a lot of high powered people did NOT want this to go to trial and hear Minton's attorney again say that he was ordered to shoot the dogs...
This video did not drop from the heavens. David Leeson and his co-worker Tom Fox witnessed Minton shooting these animals, for gods sake they followed them down the road! What they were able to caputre on video is considered circumstantial evidence.
Minus the video, the fact that Leeson and Fox witnessed this act of extreme animal cruely, This alone should have been enough for this case to go to trial.

I was not personally there but you can hear the photographer talking about what is happening, you can hear the gunshots, you can see the dogs lying there bleeding in the less edited version. Go watch it again. Furthermore, eyewitesses have come forward to corroborate this.
Why do you think it is not about what the dogs are doing? For everyone I have talked to or emailed with it is about whether or not shooting dogs in the stomach or other parts then running over them is justified. And the conclusion is that it is not justified.

There were many animal rescuers showing up to take animals out of the New Orleans area. There were many thousands of requests for rescues of pets left behind. People were sorry they left them and wanted them. People snuck in to rescue pets. There were many other options besides shooting them.
you know i never really saw anyone actually shoot anything in this video to be honest with you. i did see some dogs acting very aggressive towards the cameraman however. if there were many dogs acting like that around my family i wouldn't want them around either. and i am quite sure that not ALL of those people were forced to leave their dogs behind.
Yes, many people were forced to leave their pets behind. Some people had guns pulled on them and they were ordered to leave their pets. A woman with a teacup poodle was forced into a boat and her dog was left behind. A dog that would have fit into her handbag. Service dogs were left behind and disabled people bodily picked up and put into boats. What about people who were out of town and left their pets at kennels? Did they ask for their pets to die?

He was about to feed him. Have you seen the unedited version of this video? If not, take a look, listed to what Leeson is saying. Take a look at the second dog they shot on the sidewalk.

Actually, the raw footage was too graphic to put on even cable news. Please be sure to view it when the matter comes to trial--you will see the dog being petted and a lot more that will haunt you for a long time. Of course, no one is suggesting that whoever was in that white truck didn't also shoot dogs. There were many animal rescuers showing up to take animals out of the New Orleans area. There were many thousands of requests for rescues of pets left behind. People were sorry they left them and wanted them. People snuck in to rescue pets. There were many other options besides shooting them.

A woman with a teacup poodle was forced into a boat and her dog was left behind. A dog that would have fit into her handbag. The two men who shot dogs in the street are suspected of shootings of pets that had to be left in evacuation centers, too. Puppies and poodles were shot in an inhumane way - through the stomach - so that it took a long time to die. Deputies were overheard saying as the people were evacuated, "When these people leave we will have target practice". The two men in this video, Mike Minton and Chip Englande, go on trial early next year for the street shootings.

I didn't see that part. (photographer trying to pet the one Minton shot) Did each dog killed during the storm deserve to be killed by someone who thought it necessary, who's to say? However, I'm quite sure two photographers down trying to make stories are in no place to use the limited footage to claim that SGT Minton and the others are no good cops. From this video there should be no charges filed, no indictment, nor a conviction. But then again, isn't this Charlie Foti pursuing this?

Actually, the raw footage was too graphic to put on even cable news. Please be sure to view it when the matter comes to trial--you will see the dog being petted and a lot more that will haunt you for a long time. And no one has ever said all the sheriff deputies were bad... But the men in that truck were not acting as deputies--they were acting as the sadistic cowards they all are. Makes you wonder if they had a hand in all the school shootings and the other street shootings, doesn't it?

If you weren't here during the storm, you wouldn't understand. There were dogs running up to you afraid, hungry and aggressive. I love animals, but if you weren't there or were there with a camera and not there to protect the people etc, shut the fuck up.

I WAS there and these idiots need to rot in the deepest, depths of hell for what they did to those poor, helpless animals. People left their animals at designated places TRUSTING the authorities to care for the animals - NOT SLAUGHTER them. They were told their pets would be fine.......
People in St Bernard Parish lost EVERYTHING. The last thing the needed to hear upon returning home was that their BELOVED pets were cruely killed by some Jackass with a badge and a gun.

anderson cooper FROM CNN IS A SELLOUT!! Did you see his latest report about New Orleans? He didn't talk about the slow recovery & real issues. He talked about broken fema trailors being sold on auction websites,he didn't mention the school system or the slow recovery.
These kids in New Orleans are getting messed over by our government officials and fake ass anderson cooper doesn't really care. He said he was "keeping them honest" but he's all talk.

to say a dog cannot survive without its owner is very ignorant. if you look at info about the recent tsunamis and other natural disasters, the animals survive unbelievable better than the people. also a dog can survive weaks on relatively no food if it can find water. but i agree with shooting violent dogs, but only in self defence in the situation.

The cop in the video is Michael Minton. He and another deputy, Chip Englande, have been arrested, charged and will be on trial in November for needlessly shooting any animals they saw in Saint Bernard Parish.
Some law enforcement went into a school that served as an evacuation center, a place where people were told to leave their pets, and they turned the animals loose and chased them down and shot them.
